Rool isn't the culprit or that there isn't any Kremlings (you know, the basis for the Country games), I'm just not diggin this gimmicky platformer. It's truthfully like they just wanted to make any DK platformer and just threw Country on the title because that would make it sell and because just because it is a platformer. The reason why I say gimmicky is because Diddy uses his jetpack, you got that needless roll attack (DKC3 had it, too), and of course the 2 hit counter per character. You guys seem to just like it because of the background and visuals, which was the sole reason Miyamoto was hatin on the original Country. I'm actually looking at how the game is being played (I bet you didn't even notice Diddy's Jetpack) and how "true" it really is for Country to be in the title. I didn't completely right this off yet though. I'm always for more gameplay videos to shove me away from a concept.

It's an expansion of the unique partner abilities that have been in all three games, and the jet pack has practically become Diddy's signature item. Complaining about the roll because you didn't like it in DKC3 is silly, since the entire point of your argument is that the game isn't following the elements established in previous games. Your only valid complaint is the two hit system, but that's needed considering how they've expanded Diddy's role. Now that he's used in scripted parts of the level, and with the new co-op system, it was practically necessary to throw a health bar in the HUB.

You can see Co-Op implemented for that later half of the video when the DK and Diddy life blimps aren't connected. Only when they aren't connected is when Diddy is moving freely and hitting enemies by himself, thus why I say that's Co-Op and when playing single player, Diddy rides on DK the whole time. I'm just nitpicking at the fact that they're throwing "Country" in the title. If they dropped the word "Country" I would be totally fine with this game, but just because they're throwing it in (and essentially fucking up a trilogy) I'm picking out everything that is wrong. Which includes no K. Rool or Kremlings (the basis), gimmicks such as Diddy's JetPack and PopGun (and possibly Rolling DK attack if you see it that way), there needs to be animal buddies, there needs to be a world map to get around levels, there needs to be at least another Kong besides DK and Diddy that will help you on your quest (Cranky, Funky, Swanky, Wrinkly, etc.). Like I said, I just don't think it's cool/right/whatever that they're saying "the return of Donkey Kong Country" just because it's a DK Platformer and they threw in the KONG Letters (and Banana coins).

The different types of Tikis will fill the role of the antagonists this time, replacing the Kremlings, which will not appear in the game. There have been no confirmations on returning Kong family members or animal buddies yet. It might have been that I wasn't aware of a update or something (which is my fault if I didn't), but this is what it currently says on one of it's sources. (It was basically copied off of Wikipedia, so I guess take it with a grain of salt).

They really should release more vids as time progresses, but knowing Nintendo PR, we probably won't know the whole gameplay update until it's close to the release date. However, i'm glad the fucking water levels are out. That's the only thing I hated about the games.

Not specific if they are gonna be helpful to the game or if they are there just for shits and giggles. No mention of buddies or map. DKVine: Tanabe merely states "he won't let us down" with the animal buddies and doesn't mention if they will be added. It might be a whole new gimmick altogether. Kong members are mentioned briefly, but once again, doesn't state if they are part of the gameplay or not. Kombo: Didn't state anything. Also, they are saying they are trying really hard to make DKCR look and feel like "the original" with some enhanced graphics and more difficulty, but I think that in itself is bullshit.

That pretty much confirms that Animal Buddies will appear in the game, in some form. The Kombo article mentions maps vaguely, when talking about Wiimote functions. It's pretty clear from the articles that they're aware that fans want both Kongs and Animal buddies back, but are being forced to withdraw a shitload of information from the public. If they weren't trying to incorporate those elements, it would have been outright stated, like the Kremling and water level comments. Edited by BonBon, Aug 28 2010, 08:01 PM.
