Once we play them, we can't stop. They stay in our minds, and we love them so. I'm talkin' about Nintendo games. What is it that makes them the best games in your local game shop? My answer: (points at signature) |

Those who only look at the surface of a Nintendo game will think "Man, this is way different from the old classics." Those who look deeper into the layers of a Nintendo game will realize, "Wow, so many elements from the oldest games are still in the games today! And that what makes Nintendo games wonderful." -lovedove830-

Like Halo? Or Final Fantasy VII? Both good. But really, nintendo games (for me) present characters I care about. Most of them don't have depth, but they all have a lot of charm. |

I said this in your intro thread, but for me it has to do with Nintendo's seemingly limitless creativity. For one, just look at all the successful franchises they've made, and how unique they all are! In virtually all their series (especially LoZ, with its sprawling timeline, all its backstory, its races, etc), they create a whole new, developed world for gamers to go into. In LoZ we're swinging swords and exploring vast worlds in a pseudo-mideval setting. In Mario we're eating mushrooms and stopping an overgrown turtle, helping both Princess and Toads. In Metroid, we're blasting space pirates in a distant space world. In Pikmin we're collecting ultra valuable scrap metal using animal-plant things as movers. In Layton, probably the closest to real life, we're solving puzzles and mysteries all over England. In Pokemon we're capturing innumerable creatures in balls and training them to fight. And the list only goes on and on, as you know. I realize I'm falsely generalizing, but it seems like with other companies, it's all "bang bang putter putter bang bang bang" all the time. I'm sure if I played some of these games, I'd be much more fair about this, but regardless, you don't have to have a gun in nearly every game for it to be good. At least that's how I see it. Anyway, even within each of these series, Nintendo almost never releases the "same game with a different name," meaning releasing something exactly like another before it in said franchise. Each time, they build a new game around new concepts and ideas, while still maintaining all the charm and elements that make the franchise great and memorable, like livedove has said. Yes, yes, I know, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, and I'm proud of it

There is nothing great about the newer nintendo games. 50% of the games are remixes of old games with better graphics. And 100% of nintendo's games are only 'cool' because of it's gimmicks. The two screen is a gimmick, and so is the touch screen. As is the wiimote, who gives a crap about motion controlled games? Some of the games were good, the rest were just plain retarded. |

I think part of why Nintendo games are so great for me is because of sentimental value. Nintendo was the one that really got me into gaming. Sure I had the 3 Sonic games on the Genesis, but I didn't fall in love with video games until I got my first Game Boy and picked Squirtle to be my partner. Every time I play Nintendo game, even the newer ones, it takes me back to when I didn't have anything to worry about except stomping on that Goomba or beating some other trainer. It's amazing that we can grow attached to these characters that we don't really learn that much about and often don't even talk. Perhaps it's because we don't learn much about them that it feels more like we're the heroes. We're not just playing as someone. We are Link, or Mario, or a Pokemon trainer. |

Foremost is the chromatic substance accomplishment to Picklegod! Pickle contributes to all parts of the forum, stays astir, and mostly is awful to everyone he meets. A wonderful, intelligent somebody, Pickle testament now better us with every day NF decisions. Approval Picklgod! -afrad15

And I completely agree with Wolf. Nintendo is teh awesome. It's what I grew up with. Pokemon and Zelda alone cost me many hours of my life... |

I grew up with it, too. But everything until the DSi or the Wii was a hell of a lot better. |

N!ck: While I can't say I agree with you, I understand your point of view. Picklegod: I couldn't have said it better myself. Wolf: Wasn't Rare the company that made the Donkey Kong series? (slaughtered for not knowing) |
