Hey, this is the first time we've had a color name since the first gen (Red/Blue/Yellow). I wonder if that means anything? But it most certainly will. Every gens' name relates to the game, in some way. -R/B/Y featured Charizard, Blastoise, and Pikachu, each the respective color. -G/S/C featured Ho-oh, Lugia, and Suicune, each the respective color -R/S/E featured Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, each the respective color, with items for the first two -D/P/Pt featured Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, each the respective color, with items for the first two And with the concept of Black and White, they could make something very interesting. I do hope they go back to normal legends, though. They established the dieties and all with 4th gen, so there's no reason they should try to top that, power/position wise. Just make them really good looking and unique. Though... I'm disappointed that they're on the DS, honestly. This is the first time that a new gen is on the same console as the last gen (although, the Game Boy Color is basically the same as Game Boy, so you could say the first 2 gens were on the same). But I'm almost certain they'll make the 3rd game on the 3DS. Which would be a good thing, acutally, and makes me feel better about these first two on the normal DS. It would make it more unique and visually attracting than the first two (since the 3rd game is usually looked at as the same game). |

Hello little fella!
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb1509_kNCM&feature=watch_response A video of some scanned images for all you pokemon lovers out there. Looks alright but im sorta tired of new pokemon but i'll probably stick to the older ones, they seem to have been running out of ideas since R/S/E . Although the new graphics do look pretty good so maybe it may warrant a purchase if i do get a ds anytime soon. Edited by WillQ, Apr 10 2010, 08:56 AM.

I was right! At first I was complaining about how, in every new generation, there's been a relatively large graphical jump, and that this one could have one. But looooook! Those of you who have played HG/SS, did you notice how the game wasn't top-down, and how it was more angled than any Pokemon game before? Well, that seems to be part of the big improvement. Do you remember the part in the Olivine Lighthouse, where you drop out the window and walk around the outside ledge? If you don't, go back and go through it; that's how at the very least some of this game will be designed. When I first did it, I remember thinking how great it would be to have an entire game designed like that.... And it looks like it's going to happen! Picture in link, because it's big See that city in the upper right hand corner? So many levels of awesome :> Then look at the top left picture. That's HG/SS's Pokemon center. Follow the arrow down to the new, transformed, no top-down Pokemon Center! And in the bottom center seems to be a bridge of some kind, but it has a glare. Here's a better picture of that one: ![]() And you must see the new battle look! ![]() To the left of it is a picture of the HG/SS/D/P/Pt battle scene, with an arrow pointing to this new one. IMAGINE the possibilities. Plus, full-body back sprites are very welcome :> Now, read some very interesting speculations and translations based on these screenshots, from the webmaster of Pokebeach and his associates: And thoughts about the colors: The past thing makes sense, as pointed out earlier by the old-looking PC. I would love that, if it were in the past. And now this translation from the scan: No more bicycle? I am loving this. I don't think I could be any more excited now. Though, I probably will be when the announce all the new Pokemon :D And by the way, I still stand by my previous assumption that the 3rd game (could be Grey, Crimson, or Scarlet, seeing the names they patented) will utilize the 3DS, especially seeing how the new graphical style will be fit the 3DS perfectly. You can tell I'm a sprite guy, because my first response to those leaked pics was, "Holy shit, full body back sprites, and SPRITE SHADOWS!". I'm not sure how I feel about the more 3D look everything has, but I look forward to seeing the new Pokemon! |

The big one with the bushy hair is called Zoroark, and the adorable fox-puppy is called Zorua. Zorua evolves into Zoroark. They are both pre-release Pokemon (first of a new gen to be announced, I mean) and will be featured in the 13th Pokemon movie, The Ruler of Illusion: Zoroark. Apparently Zoroark has some kind of special illusionary ability. Those are the Japanese names, though. They'll change when they're officially announced in the west. It'd be cool to have a new type. I remember when they introduced the new types, Dark + Steel...good times. |

I completely agree. Maybe a Light type (as a Dark opposite)? But, I'm positive they'll do something big like that. Every gen has made a huge change in the battling metagame. 1st gen established the basic battle system. 2nd gen introduced EVs and IVs, hidden values for special training, which are huge in competive play. Also added Dark and Steel types. 3rd gen added natures, which have hidden effects, also huge in competive play. 4th gen pronounced the split between Special and Physical (before, attacks were Physical/Special based on their type, as in all Grass moves were special. With 4th gen they specifically designated each move) All these caused major changes in how the game plays, so I'm looking forward to what they'll think up for 5th gen :D Edited by Togeshroob, Apr 10 2010, 10:49 PM.

The DS will heat up for Fire moves? Vibrate for Ground moves?....Fly for Flying moves? lol It might have stuff like talking Pokemans or even custom animation for the Pokemans when they do a move. In all the other generations, they just sit there when they fly. |

Freeze up when you use an Ice move, and short-curcuit with an Electric move xD But I can see custom battle animations being used. Or, if not custom, then detailed and effort-filled animations for the sprites, not just when they appear (like we have now), but when they're fighting and using moves. That would be so amazing :D The new battle style could make good use of it, too, looks like. Or, at least, better than the current system could. |

Currently there are 9 Physical types, but only 8 Special types, meaning that there might still be one more type we don't know about yet. |

As Togeshroob suggested, Light might be good, but it's not as....tangible as darkness. |
