I attempted to get it to run, but I was never able to actually start it. I know it probably sounds redundant for an engine requiring another engine to run it, but is that the case and I just missed it when scanning over the above posts? Oh, and in what coding language are you scripting it in.. or what program for compiling? |

I'm using Game Maker 8 for this. Are you using a MAC or Windows XP? Edited by A_Bored_Game_Dev, Dec 31 2009, 07:57 PM.

My apologies for the double post, but I need an enemy suggestion. Requirements are; -Must have appeared in a NES/Gameboy game. -Needs to scream (or be in between that and "just look like") 2nd weakest. -Should be simple; not Goomba simple, but nothing too big. -Shouldn't be too big in size. -Cannot be from Mario, only exception being that it's an obsecure Mario enemy. I know it's small and stupid, but i'm sort of on a stump here. There's so many to choose from... ): Edited by A_Bored_Game_Dev, Dec 31 2009, 08:34 PM.

Yes, I am running Windows XP at the moment.. just a few more months 'till brand new, shiny laptop for college. ![]() As for an enemy suggestion, I'll see if my mind can conjure anything up. I'd suggest something from the Kirby series though, they're all pretty weak and mesh up with the Mario theme fairly well. |

That might explain it; GM8's designed for Vista/7. I'll look into it... Oh, and the game's actually not meant to be Mario themed, it's more Nintendo altogether. Either way, Kirby enemies would fit. I've posted the same question at another board, and i've actually only got Kirby enemy suggestions. |

Some Ideas Metroids Waddle Doos (Kirby) Octorok (Zelda) Commyloose (Kid Icarus) Topi (Ice Climbers) Voltorb (Pokemon) <- Figured he'd be the most easy to animate... You could jump on him, and he would explode after a second, killing all near enimies |

Voltorb would be more of a field item, but it's still a damn good idea. Anywho, don't worry about suggestions anymore, i'm currently programming in hopping Waddle Dees. Anywho, i'm surprised I got this in so early in production, but i've finally got a good save engine down. I couldn't find anything from a NES game that was a visual representation of saving, so I had to resort to something from a SNES game. And which comes to mind more than the save plate from Kirby Super Star? ![]() I've got it to save almost everything you need, including the suit you're wearing and the direction you're facing, which is awesome, because i've never tried making a save engine, and this one came out pretty well. I like what i'm seeing so far. I wish I could sprite like MF. Damn. I actually like the music. The only thing is, when you jump or flap the wings that you get, there's that really annoying beeping sound. But, yeah, cool. |

What beeping sound? You mean the jump SFX? Because it's sort of supposed to do that. :| |

That's what I meant, yeah. There should be at least an option to mute it once you've made the real thing. |
