Nintendo hates messing with a classic.
    I lawled.
Numerous repackagings of big franchise games beg to differ.
How many times does SMB need to be ported until Nintendo realizes it isn't that great?
    Nintendo does what Nintendo wants.
    Can you blame them, though?
They milk a franchise for all it's worth.
Just wait until Legend of Zelda Kart Racing comes out.
    Or Metroid Hoops.

You just contradicted yourself. Not once did I say that Nintendo never ported games to other consoles (to say that would be blind ignorance.) I was talking about remakes of a game. Not sequels or spin-offs. While the Super Mario Brothers have been remade once (with 16-bit graphics on nes, and then ported to various consoles), the original formula hasn't been tampered with. I must be really blind if I don't see remakes of a classic game that have added anything dramatically new to it. You said you've seen numerous repackaging, but you've only stated one game. Even if there was 'numerous' games being ported; do they really change anything in those repackages? My point is that Nintendo does port the games. Link to the past is one example. They ported to the gba, but they only added a small side quest at most. The core game still remains in tact with the same music/sprites/plot.

In the case of earthbound, it would require more than just a few text changes. Sprite manipulation and music both need to happen to prevent some music company from suing Nintendo's Earthbound. In the end, Nintendo won't release it because it would damage what earthbound was.

I agree with BlueLink. Usually Nintendo has a lot of respect for its own games. Be it real love for games or a healthy and proved bussiness practice, it benefits newcomers.

...I think i'm set with the Big N till next year.

    Over this year i've gotten...

    Mario 1 and 3 (VC)
    Punch-Out!!! (Wii)
    City Folk (Wii)
    Bowser's Inside Story (Wii)
    NSMBW (Wii)
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Wii)
    Pokemon Rumble (WiiWare)

I've trumped them all 100%, except City Folk and Rumble, so i'm set for this year for sure.

Next year? Well, there's Galaxy 2, and that Other M looks good too...

Dude, I've been trying to get Jigglypuff to drop for days now. ):

    On topic:
Nothing really, I guess I'm really not looking forward to anything other than what's been announced: Other M, Galaxy 2, etc.

Are you saying a remake for Ocarina of Time is what you want?
With updated graphics and extra dungeons and more sidequsts?
I'm speaking for myself here, but the updated graphics would kill the game for me.
Master Quest did it right in that the graphics were hardly touched, just a little update of the 64 version.
But Ocaina is a game that shouldn't be touched, in my opinion.
It'd be like changing Final Fantasy VI, it's already perfect.
    why fuck with it?

Because "fucking with it" is how you improve. Sure they might mess up and the game will blow (I really don't see that happening just because it would take something catastrophic to mess up OoT), but taking chances on making a game better is how we have all the great games that we do nowadays.

My point is exactly that. Nintendo only makes minor changes when they need to. First off, I wasn't talking about Master Quest, I was talking about Super Mario Brothers. Nintendo thought it be nice to spruce up the NES version of that game. Going from eight bit to sixteen bit didn't ruin the game because the core gameplay was still apparent. Even more so, it was to artistically show what the game what it was supposed to be. Secondly, although Master Quest has changed some of the dungeon elements, it's core gameplay was left in tact. The graphics, story, and dungeon layout itself was untouched (the puzzles were switched around to make the game more enjoyable)

Now here's your dilemma, your afraid of Ocarina of Time being remade. That fear is completely rational, but if it will make you feel any better, here one of the Zelda team main producer's thoughts on a remake of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVx085_oPQ0#t=8m48s It not only applies to Zelda, but all games from Nintendo.

However, I can't say the same for Square Enix (Final Fantasy 3 for the DS)

I would like a Zelda game with more stuff outside of the main story. Sort of like Majora's Mask, but even more so, with whole dungeons and large areas that you don't need to go to to complete the main quest. And with a more open ended world without areas cut off from each other, sort of like The Elder Scrolls to name an example.

Also, make a console version of the first two Golden Sun games, combining both of them. Early in development they were going to be a single game, and for the N64.

Where to start. I havn't really bought a new game since August, so I'm really behind.

I'm currently looking up games that I might be interested in that are already out and here's what I've come up with so far.

Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
    Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
    Knights in the Nightmare
    The Dark Spire

    Silen Hill: Shattered Memories
New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Getting this one at Christmas)
    Rogue Trooper
    Little King's Story
    A Boy and His Blob

It will be a while before I have them all, but it's about time I started gaming again! :B

Also, feel free to give feedback on any of these games. From what I've read/heard, they seem to be fairly solid. I'm really looking forward to trying the Dark Spire.

I've been really craving some Soul Silver.
I know that once I get it, even if it is going to be the best Pokemon game, I'll get bored with it pretty quick.
Still, I need a new Pokemon game to help kill some time.

Personally I am always ready for the next installment of either the Super Mario Brothers games, Zelda and Metroid. A new one of those would make me happy.
