When it comes to Hardcore/Death Metal, Between The Buried And Me's magnum opus Colors set the tone there. Opens up a whole new vision. Jesus fucking Christ, when did you get back here. I fucking miss you.

I still haven't warmed to Youthanasia yet, but Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and even System has Failed are quite good. TORNADO OF SOULS=SO MUCH WIN.

Megadeth is a fundamental component of the "Big Four" of thrash metal: Slayer Anthrax Megadeth Metallica Slayer being the most extreme out of all four, Anthrax the lightest (but by all means still thrash) s_D's recommendations for the Big Four: Slayer Reign in Blood-given. Great album by Slayer, nearly every song in it is a hit. Except Raining Blood solo. Ugh. Seasons of the Abyss-A mix of slightly slower songs, and really rapid songs. It's still very thrash; awesome album. Metallica almost-any-album-that-are-noteworthy-do-I-really-need-to-go-into-it? Anthrax Among the Living-Great album, with lots of great songs. Notably "Caught in a Mosh", and "I am the Law" Spreading the Disease-About as great as Among the Living. Very good riffs. Megadeth Rust in Peace-A ton of classics here. Hangar 18? Check. Five Magics? Check. TORNADO OF SOULS? DOUBLE CHECKED. Countdown to Extinction-Another album chock-full of amazing songs.

I like a few of their songs but from what I can remember, it wasn't that great. Probably "Caught in a Mosh" and "Madhouse". But no really, I have a few favorite by them.
