If we are getting into Rage songs, then the live version of "How I could Just Kill a Man" with B-real and Sen Dog is better than "Killing in the Name" live. |

I should listen to the live albums more and look for differences. I know there's huge differences in terms of the solos sometimes. And "Fack da Police" will remain a live song forever. And it should stay that way.
I'll go listen to the live/non-live version and see of any differences. I thought the album version is angry enough already. |

This is now an anything metal thread. Dudes, go listen to Shadows Fall's "The Art of Balance". A bit different from their more popular album, "War Within". But honestly, listen to songs like Idle Hands, Stepping Outside the Circle. Especially Stepping Outside the Circle. Very cool intro. Also, I pose a question to you all. Don't you hate those songs where the intro takes too long, and slightly unnecessary to get to the meat of the song? "One" by Metallica I can forgive because it really sets the mood. It's more of a storytelling song condensed to 8 minutes. But songs like "Damage Inc." has that really useless intro that took 1 minute long just to get through. Honestly. It really didn't add to the song, rather, detract from it. I'm kinda iffy on songs like "Raining Blood" by Slayer. The opening sets the mood, but, once again, it takes a bit too long. So what's your opinion NF metalheads? Yay or nay towards long intros? |

A long intro is OK if, and only if, the rest of the song is worth it. In general, I hate songs with a fantastic intro but a mediocre bridge and ending. |

I agree it makes some songs boring and in some cases the song itself might not be that great but I can get into some intros. |

Mainstream Metal is painful. I listened to SOAD for a while, but they are rather lame to be honest. When it comes to Hardcore/Death Metal, Between The Buried And Me's magnum opus Colors set the tone there. Opens up a whole new vision. |
