I miss them making quality games like they did in the N64 era, but they are not the same company they once were and Nintendo did well in the end to get a good price for them.

It is still a bit of a shame they parted ways though as we probably won't get Goldeneye on the Virtual Console now!

Yeah this has been speculated for a long time, which is too bad. I had envisioned a world where I could get on my Wii and play GoldenEye in an online 4-player death match over Nintendo Wi-Fi.....My world is not yet complete :(

I miss Jet Force Gemini too, loved that game. How I loved my N64!

Rare has been sold to Microsoft.

They will not be releasing any more games for any Nintendo consoles.

Consoles. They've already released games for the Nintendo DS (and GBA, for the matter), and from looking at the sales of those games, there is belief that they will do so again.

Rare wasn't sold; it was bought. Big difference.

I don't miss Rare, I played Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts last year, and I loved it. I also downloaded Banjo Tooie today, which was also just released, so how could I miss them if they haven't gone anywhere?

I would rather them make good games on the 360 than shitty waggle games on the Wii.

But think of the possibilities if they made AWESOME waggle games on the Wii!

I don't know why I'm in this thread, I never played a Rare game.

In September 2002, the Stamper brothers sold their 51% interest in Rare to Microsoft; following this, Nintendo sold their 49% stake in the company as well. Microsoft paid a total of $375 million for the company. Because of this, Rare is now a first-party developer for Microsoft's Xbox and its successors.
