![]() Left 4 Dead Published by: Electronic Arts / Valve Developed by: Valve Genre: First-Person Shooter Story Line: Your one of 4 survivors who are immune to this infection that hit. This Dawn of the Dead meets I Am Legend. Overview: Left 4 dead is a Zombie survival game. The game in general is set up like a movie that you the player have control over. It is split up into 4 different campaign; No Mercy: In No Mercy your goal it to get to Mercy Hospital where a Helicopter extraction team will pick you up Death Toll: Your trying to make it to a boat house to take a ship out. Dead Air: In this one your trying to make it to the airport for a flight out. Blood Harvest: Your goal in Blood harvest is to make it to a farm house where a military convoy will pick you up. Each of these campaigns is split up into 5 chapters each one ending in either a safe house or the pick up location. Once at the extraction point you must survive until help arrives. Game Modes: You can play this game in three different modes; Campaign: Just choose a custom match or a quick mach and join players on Xbox live Versus: Choose to be either a Survivor or on of the Spacial Infected and go head to head and try to survive or kill the survivors. If you choose to play as the infected you will be randomly placed as any of the following: Boomer, Hunter, Smoker, or Tank. Single Player: Play solo with the computer or with a split- screen partner. Survivors: You can play as an 1 of the 4 Survivors. The only real difference between them is their personality. ![]() Francis is the over confidant, cocky type. ![]() Louis is a Junior Analyst who is just trying to survive. ![]() Bill is a war vet who lives for war. ![]() And Zoey is the collage student who would rather watch movies about zombies than do her school work. Types of Infected: There are 6 types of infected 4 of which are playable. All of which have their own sound they make. ![]() The Horde is just like how its sounds tons of zombies. Hordes are alerted by loud sound like alarms and pipe bombs. They are also attracted to Boomer Bile. There are however some hordes that are unavoidable that are just apart of the story line. ![]() The Boomer is a fat zombie. They vomit bile on the survivors that blind them temporally and attract hordes. Boomers are slow and easy to kill. When you kill them they explode showing anything or one near by with bile. When a Boomer is near you it will make a kinda vomiting sound. ![]() The Hunter is fast and will pounce on you. You can tell a Hunter is nearby if you hear either a growling or a screeching roar (kinda like a cat). If a Hunter pounce on you another survivor must either shove it off or kill it you can not get away by yourself. ![]() The Smoker is tall and has a very long tongue in which it will constrict you with. You can tell a Smoker is nearby by a wheezing cough. Once a Smoker gets a hold of you, you have just a few moments to shot and kill it before is constricts you, once that happens you must have a team mate help you. Once a Smoker is killed it releases a green smoke. ![]() The Tank is one of the harder ones to kill. It uses brute force to pummel you. The tell tale sign a Tank is coming is that the ground will shake. The easiest way to kill the Tank is to set it on fire, its also the most dangerous. ![]() The last is The Witch. You can tell a Witch is near by when you hear her crying. If you hear her crying shut off you light and sneak past her. If you startle her it almost always spells death or she knocks your health in the red. With you light off you can see the Witch casted in the red glow from her eyes. Inventory: Your inventory consists of one on each item; A flashlight, a first aid kit, an explosive (either a pipe bomb or a molotov), pain killers, up to 2 pistols with unlimited ammo, and a secondary gun. First aid kits heal 80% of you total damage and you get one at each safe house. Pain Pills gives you a temporary 50% health boost it also takes away any limp you have. Pipe bombs create a large concussion blast, and they come with blinking lights and beeping that lure hordes to them. Molotovs create a patch of flames that will linger for a while. Weapons: Each Survivor can carry up to 3 guns, 2 of which are dual welding pistols and a secondary weapon. Pistol: Low power with 15 rounds per gun. This also comes with unlimited ammo. Submachine gun: The submachine gun isn't much more powerful per shot compared to the pistol, but it shoots a lot faster. 50 rounds per clip and you have 480 rounds. Pump Shotgun: While the pump shotgun works best up close against groups of infected, its effectiveness is limited by the longer amount of time needed to fully reload it. 8 round capacity with 128 rounds. Assault Rifle: The bigger and meaner version of the submachine gun. The assault rifle fires shots that have significant penetration power, letting the survivors mow down almost all infected with ease. 50 rounds per clip with 360 round total. Auto Shotgun: The auto shotgun can fire far more rapidly. Unfortunately, it still must be reloaded one shell at a time. 10 round capacity with 128 rounds reserved. Hunting Rifle: A rugged rifle with a scope. The hunting rifle can quickly fire very powerful shots with very high penetration power, and it is the only weapon that offers a zoom view. Its great damage potential and accuracy make it a deadly weapon against boss infected from a distance. 15 rounds per clip with 180 total. Survivor Support Items: These are placed at random points in the game and can change. Ammo Pile: Replace all your ammo Explosive Tank or Fuel Canister: can be picked up and used to either set large fires or blow up and near by zombies. Minigun Emplacement: you can find these at horde spots and at the pick up location. It has unlimited ammo but will over heat and has limited turning arc. Health: You health bar is located at the bottom of the screen. Depending on the color depends on how much health you have. Green: 51%-100% Yellow: 16%-50% you move a little bit slower Red: 0%-15% Pronounced limp and you move very slow If you health drops to zero you become incapacitated it will trigger a bleed out health bar if a team member doesn’t revive you, you will die and must wait until they get to a respawn closet and let you out. Your team members can only revive you twice in a row if you haven’t used a health kit. If you die at the pick up area that it for you and you must wait until all non computer players are dead or they are picked up. A tip if your hurt and don’t have a heath kit computer players will usually heal you before they will heal themselves and you can heal other members of you team. Overall: This game is fun to play by yourself or with others but it is a co op game you need everyone’s help to survive. If you play online help your team members done just get on in the rescue vehicle and leave them laying on the ground 1 foot behind it. it upset them.*steps off soap box* But if you get a good group of people it loads of fun. Just don’t be on the very top of the hospital when a Tank comes, it could through you off.I give the game 9/10. |

Despite a couple of typos, a generally good review. I played the demo and wasn't as impressed as I thought I should've been. I thought it got a little repetitive, a little predictable, and somewhat boring if people aren't using their mics or your computer team mates are idiots. (All the time) Anyways, good job mate. What do you have it for? PC or 360? (Yes, I'm fully aware of the box art for 360 up there, but still.) |

I have it for the 360 our computer can hardly run the internet and photoshop at the same time. for the more part me and my sister play split-screen and we do really good. My main issue with on line play is that some of the people don't have mics and those that do choose not to help everyone but expect help in return. I can count the times one or more person I've played with just left me behind while i heal. And in the final stand the all separate and we all die and have to restart. |

This looks like an awesome game, but my 360 doesn't have Live, so I'd be missing out on most of the fun.
