One that basically removes level scaling? So that means when your level 60, the rats won't kill you in one shot?
Not so much that, but more-- dare I say it-- a realism mod. It just felt pretty jarring to me that as soon as you reached a certain level, every bandit and marauder you met would be decked out with the best equipment in the game... plus I preferred the aesthetic appeal of the more basic armours (Legion, steel, etc) and weapons (fine steel, silver) so I'd also put me at a disadvantage in a fight if I was using them.

In addition to that, I felt the scaling removed a lot of incentive from the game. Certainly, it made shopping and exploring pointless since you could count on the next marauder you met to have the best armour available to you at your level.

As far as creatures are concerned, I always found creature fights pretty dull, so throwing extra variety into what creatures you might encounter might spice things up a bit. Plus since the creatures you encountered were scaled to your level, it made levelling up pretty pointless...

I think the cheapest thing I bought this year was Prey for $8.
Gogamer had it in Black Friday for I think $3.

Same here...but you know, do we need video games to live?

Brawl is only the real game that I ever pre-ordered, and willingly pay full price. Now I can get it for $35-$40.
See? Even a few months can help.

Luxury is stupidity. That's why America's economy is in a bad of a shape as it is. I mean, I completely agree with s_d. That's how I buy most of my games. Unless it's something I've been waiting for since I first saw it, and I have a bit of extra cash, I'll wait until my birthday, Christmas, etc, or until next year when the price comes down. Hell, I don't know how much money I've saved by simply borrowing some good, single-player games from my friends. Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy VII, Dark Cloud... I can keep going. The point is, if it's a good game, it'll be just as good in a year when it costs half as much. And back to you, Wolf, your attitude bothers the hell out of me. When most people in the world are not very well off, and there's a very real possibitility that their main bread-winner can get laid off, luxury is not living. I've found that my life is just as good when I don't get that $2 pop from the vending machine, or that $3 slice of pizza from the cafeteria. Sure, I'd like to have them, but the food I already have is already plenty, and that couple of bucks I save a day adds up. Enough to say, buy a new game...

Apparently you missed my sarcasm. I agree with everything you said after that.

What the hell, Yacht? That contributed absolutely nothing, and actually detracted from what was supposed to be a pretty intelligent topic.

And BHM, it's one thing if you get something for free. If that's the case, then by all means, enjoy it. I'm just saying that since I pack a lunch, there's no need for me to spend any money on any food at school. And I don't see why buying a game that's a half a year old is stupid. It's the same game, if it's a PC game, then most of the bugs will be worked out, and it's cheaper. Sounds like a win/win/win situation to me.

Which one is that, Leonardo? *ahem* sorry, uhhh... yeah....

Well, I'd sure love to join in on this whole second-hand epidemic but I've always been kind of paranoid about scratches and damage to anything gaming related (or just everything ever in general). I mean, the amounts of time I've spent fucking over the local game stores with all my broken crap, I wouldn't trust myself to buy anything second hand. All they do is take a glimpse at the condition, they don't put it in a disc drive and try to play it, or vice versa for consoles.
I don't buy games too often, but when I do I like them in the fecking shrink wrap.

Oh, I agree. I'm not one for buying used games, but what I meant is that I don't need to have them right when the come out. If it's a year after a game came out, I'd be happy to buy a new copy. Like you, Shield, I'm pretty particular about the condition of pretty much everything I own, so I only buy used games if I can test them and look at them in the store. Luckily, my local GameCrazy allows me to do that, so if I see a $5 Gamecube classic, I'll take it. But, in general, I buy older games, but still a new copy.

Funny, I wonder why people buy games probably older than you from the Virtual Console, or people still buy Super Mario Bros.

I used to buy only second-hand all the time. All worked...only bad thing I can say is that my Timesplitters 2 case for Gamecube smells like someone who owned it before was smoking. And that I got a random error during a giant squid fight in Legend of Zelda:Wind Waker (just froze, then a bunch of letters popped up as if it was a developer console. Probably just a bug)

The trend for "wait one year, price drops by half or so" is obvious in PC games. Assassin's Creed for $50 last year? Now it's $15, 10 at some places. Maybe they're not just selling, I don't know.

The UK are a lot less willing to drop prices, which is annoying... they don't base it on time, they base it on popularity.

Lots of games in the US are based on popularity too. A game that I bought went from 40 to 20 in one month because it wasn't selling at all

Yes, but until Baldur's Gate gets added, my panties shall be staying bone dry.

Hey, since we're on the topic of ancient RPGs, did you know that you can freely download the very first Elder Scrolls title?
:o, you just made my day with that link

& Bauldr's Gate would be amazing. You can't find that game anywhere anymore :'(
