    AutoHotKey

    AutoHotKey is a program that allows you to right up your own script that makes a command to open or run a certain thing when pressed. For example, I have a script that I wrote in a few seconds that makes it so when I press Windows Key+Space it opens up firefox.

    The scripting is pretty easy, unless you want to get into more complicated strings. Here is the code for my Firefox Script (not really mine, I'm positive someone else has made it before):

    Code:

    #space::Run Firefox.exe

    # denotes the Windows Key
    space tells the program to activate when the combination of the Windows Key and the Space Bar are pressed
    Run tells the program that a program/file will be opened when this is activated
    Firefox.exe is there to tell which program. Be sure to put the file
    name, not the name you see underneath it on the desktop or in your programs
    Be sure to name the script you make with a .ahk ! that's the only way it will work!

    After you create the script, you need to double click on it, then it will activate. I'll add some more tutorials as I progress through the program. Be on the lookout!

    There are a lot more tutorials and things that can help you here and here.

    Here are the two scripts I have made already:

    Firefox Run
    Spoiler: click to toggle

    Spoiler: click to toggle

    Thanks s_D for telling me about this!

    Haha, you actually took up on it.
    Cool.

    Here's my quick script to turn Caps Lock into a "Boss Key". Basically, it minimizes everything into your desktop. Basically Windows Key+D, except faster and put into one button for easy hiding.

    Code:

    CapsLock::#d

    I use AutoHotkey often in games to remap keys, or give me extra buttons. For example, in Frets on Fire, I made a script that gave me 2 different sets of strum buttons (since not all keyboard combinations can work)

    Thank you again for telling us about this, s_D. It's pretty awesome. I have a question, is there a way you can make all the scripts you have active, but not with a separate icon for each in the desktop tray?

    Hey, this is pretty cool. I'm trying to learn as much programming as I can, and this looks like an easy and practical way to get into programming. I'll have to check it out soon.

    The easy way to do this is if you just combine all the scripts into one.

    There's actually a way to "toggle" the Hotkey on/off.
    Say you want to use Scroll Lock as the on/off switch.

    Just do:
    Code:

    ScrollLock::Suspend

    Handy if you like toggling.

    So I can just add them a few lines apart? or do I need to add a combine thing?

    etc. etc.

    Thanks s_D

    I like it how this is easier to script with, and you can get into more complicated stuff, instead of all easy or all hard.
