My Sims Is a cute version of The Sims really what we are looking for? Lets find out. Format: Wii(version tested), Nintendo DS Publisher: Electronic Arts Developer: Electronic Arts Genre: Simulation Release Dates:US: September 18, 2007 Europe: September 20, 2007 Australia: September 20, 2007 This is possibly the most unexpected transformation of any videogame series I ever seen, My Sims is really a delightful game, but don't judge the look, its not something that will only entertain seven year olds, it has a lot of features that The Sims on the PC doesn't have, its quite a fun game. Well just like the normal Sims game, you get to create your character, choose his clothes, change his facial appearence, choose his tone of voice, change his gender, etc. However you can change his look anytime you want, you can unlock some extra clothes as you progress in the game. The game is set in a small village, basically the great architect left the village and soon enough everyone started to move out, and of course it is up to you to restore the town to its former glory by building houses and doing jobs for the locals. You run into the mayor at the beginning, after you create your character of course, she then tells you what happened and what you must do. Soon enough you get your own house, now at first it may take a while for you to get good at creating buildings however the look doesn't make a difference to what the inside looks like. Now currently the town is pretty empty and there aren't many villagers around, so eventually you will have to pay a visit to the town's hotel, new villagers usually appear there every morning, each Sim has different interests, some are arses, some are nice, some are boring but you normally would get that in most Sims games. Unlike the normal Sims games, your character has no needs, he won't get hungry, he won't need to 'go' and he won't get lonely either, but you can make him eat or go to the bog if you want him to. As more people move in you will need to build them their dwellings, you can make it look like anything you want, just as long as it has an entrance, soon enough they will be wanting you to create some furniture for them which can be done at your workshop which you have to build at the start of the game, you start off with the blueprint, afterwards you must add different sorts of 'blocks' to the blueprints, you don't have to build the furniture exactly as it says in the blueprint. You can paint the blocks or add 'essences' to them (I'll talk about them later.) As you complete requests your town will start to rank up, soon enough it will increase to a 2 star town, then a 3 star and so on, as your town ranks up more people will visit the hotel, you can decide who to move in and you can kick them out later. However the amount of dwellings you can have in your town is limited, but as your town ranks up the mayor will grant you access to more areas in the town, however those areas are blocked but she will lend you a certain tool to bash through the barricade. Now as for these essences I mentioned earlier, you can get these by entertaining or annoying the villagers, shaking them from trees, digging them up from the ground, in fact there are so many ways to get them. Essences are essential if you want to advance in the game, they can be used to change the look of furniture you build for yourself and the other villagers, some villagers may request for you to add some essences to the furniture they request. There are many different kinds of essences, some of them are incredibly difficult to find, essences can be used to paint furniture but of course this is much different to the normsl paint you would use for the furniture you construct. Graphics: 6 There is quite an amount of lag throughout the game, it isn't very common but you may run into it at times, the models are decent. Sound: 8 There are some realistic sounds, the cute music is excellent but can sometimes be inappropriate for some parts of the game. Gameplay: 9 Excellent, this game has plenty of features that even the original Sims game cannot match, you will have no problems at all playing this game. Overall: 9.0 Don't let the cute looks fool you, this is a very entertaining game that will keep you occupied for hours, even if you aren't under 10. |
