    Xbox 360 or PS3?

I might be getting a new console soon, and I wanted to know if Xbox 360 or PS3 was better. I think that Xbox 360 has better games, and I better onliner service, but I have heard that there are a bunch of hidden costs. I read somewhere that you had to buy a $100 wireless thing for the wireless controllers to work, and you had to buy a rechargable battery pack for them also. If anyone could tell me if this is true, it would be appreciated.

Also, has Microsoft fixed their reliability issues yet? It seems that a lot of 360's are breaking down, and I would not want that to happen.

One last thing, is it possible to wirelessly connect to the internet from 360? Thanks.

Well the Xbox is cheaper...Unless you want online etc...

The Wi-Fi thing you need costs like £50. Then £40 for Live...There not much different except Blu-ray etc..

All in all, they cost about the same.

And you don't need a thing for the ocntrollers to work.

Definitely an Xbox 360. And yes they have fixed their issues with some Xboxes but eve if by chance it gets the red ring of death just send it in and they will fix it for free. The Xbox has been coming out with a lot of great games lately. Also, you can get a 360 for cheaper on Ebay. ;)

I'm the only one here that has both systems, and I can say that the 360 (even though it can sometimes break down) is the better system.

First of all, it has the games of this generation so far, besides Galaxy. All of the games that could be Game of the Year this year, besides Galaxy again, are on the 360 like Mass Effect, BioShock, the Orange Box, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It also has the best games of last year like Gears of War, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Second, it's online is far more superior. Even though it costs $60 a year (Canadian... Well, not anymore I think), it's just so much better than Playstation Network. It's easier to find friends, and talk to them. It's easier to find, and enter a match, and it's also got achievements, which are a big reason why the 360 is so much fun to play. Live Arcade games are far better than Playstation Store games, and the whole Live Marketplace is a lot easier to navigate.

Third, and this is my opinion, but the controllers are way better. Now this might sound kind of odd, but PS3's controllers hurt my hands after a while. The left analog stick is in an awkward position and can hurt my thumb and hand. Their controllers also don't have rumble, and the Sixaxis is a waste of space. It never works properly, and it's a pain to use.

There's also little things that make it better like the ability to download old Xbox games that you never got to play starting on December 3rd with Halo: Combat Evolved, and Psychonauts. You can also download movies, and other things like demos, which don't take as long as PS3 demos do. 360 demos takes about 15 minutes, but I have never downloaded a PS3 demo because it took about 3 hours to get half-way. You can rip songs from CD's, and store them on system, like the PS3, but you can listen to these songs whenever the hell you want.

The $100 for an adapter to connect wireless is true, which sucks ass. But really, I have no reason to care because my 360 is right beside my router, and soon I will be connecting it to my PC monitor to play in HD. These fees aren't really hidden, because if you don't need to connect it to a wireless router, then you wont have a problem.

Overall, I think the 360 is far better than the PS3. The PS3 still has some good exclusives like Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted, but still, the exclusives for the 360 are far, and I mean far more superior, and the whole machine is just a lot better.

360 def. Threeie's gonna be epic, 200 Bucks Cheeper (With $100 for internet access unless that cord can reach your router), got loads of games, and the controller is awesome.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 cost the same where I live, so that does not really factor into my decision. I've been looking at some of the PS3 games, and they seem to have some good games coming up. LittleBigPlanet, Final Fantasy, Home. They all look pretty great.

There are no 'hidden costs'. You could hook up with your ethernet cable that comes in the box or wirelessly for a $100 router.

Rechargeable battery packs are OPTIONAL. It's an accessory like any other one. If you don't like to shed batteries all the time, buy a rechargeable battery pack and a charge station. It might be expensive up front, but it's definitely a money saver.

Otherwise, what you see is what you get.

Well, Sony is actually trying these days.

They cut down the price of the PS3 to $399 Canadian if I am correct. And Uncharted looks epic.

The ridiculous $399.99 PS3 can't play PS2 and PS1 games, and that's all it's good for right now.

That's true, they have a very good 2008 coming up. You can add Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, and God of War III (if it comes out) to that too. But still, 360 still has Banjo Threeie, Too Human, Dungeon Hero, and Halo Wars.

    Ahh, the good old Halo.

And the 33.3% Failure rate has gone down on the new models I think.

Sorry if i repeat anyone, i dont feel like reading the rest of the posts.

Xbox 360 beats PS3 hands down. no contest.
Wireless controllers work fine, but i got a wireless controller so i could play with my brother, but it sucks. I'll tell you the brand later, but for some reason, when i play halo, i have to fire at the ground or else it shoots by itself, and Headphones dont work with it.

Anyway, The problem with 360 is Online. Its fun, but to connect, you need something to plug into the 360 thats 100$, plus paying for gold so you can play. But on the good side, it has good games, and its fun to try to unlock achievments.

If you can afford one, I'd recommend getting a PC. A decent one.

Of course, I'm a PC gamer, so I'm hardly impartial.

The PC, beyond the obvious fact that it can produce a far better audio and visual experience than consoles (in addition to a far superior control system) also has a number of other decisive advantages that really set it apart from consoles.

First of all, there's the fact that in general, the depth of the games offered on the PC is much greater. This is especially relevant for the strategy genre, a genre that particularly interests me. How many decent console strategy games can you think of? Not many. That's because the consoles simply can't *do* decent strategy games-- the format inherently makes games such as those in the Total War series and many others very difficult (if not impossible) to pull off well. These, in addition to god sims such as the Sims, are games that require real thought and careful contemplation-- they go far beyond the console mainstay of 'jump from platform A to platform B, attack monster by rapidly pressing a button'.

There's also the fact that many games released on the console also get PC releases: Halo, the Grand Theft Auto series and many others. It's often the case that these releases feature improved graphics and extra features. And PC releases are cheaper! Want proof? On amazon.co.uk, Oblivion is £17.98 for the PC version. How much is the Xbox 360 version? £39.99-- over double the PC version's price. If you buy a lot of games, eventually this will actually balance out the initial high price of the PC itself.

And you can do more with PC games, as well. With a console, if you encounter a bug or don't like a particular aspect of the game, you're pretty much stuck with it. There's nothing you can do. But on the PC, you're given easy access to configuration files and the developer console, as well as dedicated game editors in a large number of cases. You can change the game yourself, essentially. Or if you're too lazy to do that, just download unofficial mods and fixes that other people have done, which is yet another thing you can't do with consoles. I don't know about you, but the ability to create new things and modify the gaming experience is a feature that's pretty important to me.

Then there's the whole issue of regions with consoles. It doesn't exist with the PC. No matter where you buy a game-- the UK, the US or any number of other countries, the thing will still work with your system.

    Consoles are for mugs.

[EDIT]Plus you can, y'know, use a PC for surfing the internet and typing stuff out and stuff.
