I downloaded AIM recently, it was good, I could finally talk to my clan members past the cbox, but now I heard this guy that had AIM got 3 trojans, most of his files were corrupt and it cause him to reformat his computer, but I dun want to end up like him so I need to know if its a good idea to keep it |

Cool 'debate'. I think I might just make my own along the same lines. 'What will be the broader socio-economic impact of me eating a bag of peanuts? Or not eating a bag of peanuts?' And for the record, unless you click on every link and accept every file that gets sent to you (which wouldn't surprise me, since you're about as internet savvy as Eazy-E was HIV aware), AIM poses no real security threat. |

It depends what version. If I were you, I would download an older version, like AIM 5.9 instead. IMO the new one is dull and too complicating to use. As for security purposes, listen to what Katz said. |

Not bad as far as security goes, however- it's a generally shite client full stop. I suggest you go with Pidgin instead. |

Quiet, please, it's snack time!

If you want it, go for it. I personally prefer MySpace and MSN though. |

Katz wins at this debate. AIM is a good idea if you want to IM people online. Otherwise I wouldn't recomend it. |

Aim slows down my comp. :/ So I almost never use it. I go on meebo if I go on aim. Aim also slows down Runescape when I play it. |

through my personal experience with aim, i have had it for 6 years and had no problems whatsoever. so for the guy with 3 trojans, either tough luck, or stupid mouse clicking. i say aim is fine if you know what you're doing. |

Please don't bump threads like this one. We can assume that after three months, the original poster would have made a decision about whether to get AIM or not. Thanks, friend. |
