Everythings gone well, new PC, Vista and more importantly internet on it with my router that I thought was well and truly broken. I'm sure I'll see alot of compatibility probs, but hey. I would recommend sticking with XP for one more year.
I'll see you on Halo soon :)

I like Xbox version of Halo: Combat Evolved. Somehow it just feels better on Xbox.

I know, inferior graphics, clunky controls and lack of official multiplayer goes a long way to improving a game.

    I'd assume that's sarcasm...

Anyway, we're all going to have to upgrade to Vista eventually. Because everything will only start to work on Vista, sort of like right now some things only work on XP.

Not necessarily. It was never really necessary as such to upgrade to XP- a lot of people just stuck with plain old Windows 2000- all the security and stability enhancements without all the added cruft.

They're effectively very similar operating systems- the only developer who produces XP-only applications is Microsoft itself- and even then, it's non-essential things like Windows Defender et al.

XP's not so different to Vista underneath. The najority of the sweeping changes they planned never happened due to appalling development management. The only thing that I can see going Vista-only in the forseeable future is high-end games- those requiring DirectX 10. Even then- if the Wine project can pull off their plans for an XP port of said API quickly enough, even that's not going to happen.

In the best-case scenario, we'll see a mass-migration of developers from DirectX to OpenGL APIs for development, meaning that there won't be any reason to upgrade from XP to Vista whatsoever, since OpenGL development on XP continues.

Past games, though, you're not going to be seeing much reason to upgrade.

Okay, I didn't choose to have Vista, it came with the pc, I'm happy with it so far. All running smoothly, just I can't connect to MSN, but I think thats my router as it says I have an invalid ip address.

Halo problem fixed, right click and run as administrator. :)

Hey, still, it's nice to have Vista when things start running on it. Becides, if I got a computer with Vista, I'd be pretty happy about it.
