The picture showed what was either a French or English soldier apparently around the times of the American Revolution.(F and I war?)

    French!? :o FRENCH!?

It's a British soldier, and they still wear those uniforms during ceremonies. It's not an awfully old photograph- look at the assault rifles.

I know that most of the time that French are depicted wearing blue, but I was never sure that for some reason they might. Or I can blame myself as being color blind. Of course it's not back then it's a picture. And I didn't look at the weapons, just saw the colors and uniform and made an opinion then. Hmm, you guys still wear the red uniforms in ceremonies?

As far as I'm aware, it varies on a regimental level.

    Wikipedia sayeth:
    Quote:

In the modern British army scarlet is still worn by the Foot Guards regiments for ceremonial, by the Life Guards and by some regimental bands or drummers. Officers and NCOs of those regiments which previously wore red retain scarlet as the colour of their "mess" or formal evening jackets.
Scarlet is also retained for some full dress, military band or mess uniforms in the modern armies of a number of the countries that made up the former British Empire. These include the Australian, Jamaican, New Zealand, Fijian, Canadian, Kenyan, Ghanaian, Indian, Singaporean and Pakistani armies.
