    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_%28board_game%29

Go is an ancient Asian board game that is steadily gaining popularity in the western world. It has been played since before the birth of christ and boasts simple, easy to understand rules, complex tactics and strategic depth that surpasses even chess.

It's a very fun and engrossing game and whilst it takes about 2 seconds to learn and understand, it will take years of practice to master. Seriously, I once challenged an Asian nerd on the internet to a game and he raped me at it.

I'm just posting this here to see if there's anyone else on this forum that plays or is interested in Go. I am in the high double digit Kyu in my rank (I'm not sure exactly) meaning I'm a grubby novice, really.

Anyway, if anyone cares, maybe we could play some games online, or if enough people are interested, we could possibly have a forum tournament! Games can be easily played on http://www.gokgs.com

Go was on Yahoo! games for a long time...
Power and wisdom seem to be WAY better than courage. It seems like Nintendo was running out of ideas even back then.

Naw. :P But I did read a manga called, "Hikaru No Go" And it's one of the most interesting mangas I've read. I'll stick with Chess though.

Is anyone actually going to give a useful reply or show any interest at all in the game? All I've seen so far is "oh yeah i've heard of it" and "yeah it seems interesting".

OK hm... I've played Go a few times on Yahoo! Games... I don't like the game very much, even though I know it takes a ton of skill. Just tryig to surround pieces doesn't interest me. But if I was actually good, or was forced to practice, I would love it.

Trying to surround pieces is a novice tactic. If you are good enough, you shouldn't have to. Remember, the objective of go is to capture more territory than your opponent, not capture all their pieces.

Sorry about before, I was just in a sour mood because a shithead on gokgs wouldn't accept I had beaten him. The game had come to an end and we were removing dead stones. I had total central influence and he had outside influence. His territory was slightly larger than mine, so I managed to cut the south west corner and gain a chunk that made the difference. He had the unit surrounding it completely covered, but the inside was all mine, bar a few stones he put there.

Here's the deal, as we both pass, he begins and marks that unit - the winning unit - as dead. I mark it as undead and mark the stones inside as dead as it should be, putting me in front by a respectable margin, he marks them alive again and marks my territory-holding unit as dead again, seeing him win by a minimal margin.

He kept insisting and pushing and it really ticked me off. I sent him a profrane statement and left.
