Developer: Rare
Publisher: Nintendo
Release: June, 1998
Genre: Platformer
Rating: E
Platform: Nintendo 64

Intro
After spending countless hours playing Banjo-Kazooie's sequal, Banjo-Tooie, I decided to go back and play Banjo-Kazooie again.I forgot how wonderful it was, and still is.Banjo-Kazooie is the game I fell inlove with when I was six, the game I couldn't stop playing from the moment I picked up the controller.I'd sneek into my sister's room (who owned the N64 at that time) just to get that jiggy I had my eye on.Now, even after all these years, I still love the game every bit as much as I did back then. And if that's not what makes a game great, I don't know what does.

Story
9.5/10
The story starts out with Gruntilda the witch in her lair talking to her couldren. (yes, everything talks in this game) She asks him who is the most beautiful one of all, and her couldren says that there is someone else who is more beautiful then her.(Which isn't very sursprising.)He says that Tooty is the most beautiful.Angry and disgusted, Grunty hops on her broomstick and flies out of her lair and finds Tooty, who is talking to Bottles the mole.Grunty swoops down, grabs Tooty and returns to her lair.
Kazooie the bird, and Banjo's friend, wakes Banjo up so they can go see what all the commotion is about. They find out from Bottles that Banjo's sister has been kidnapped from Grunty. With Bottles as their guide, Banjo and Kazooie set off to save Tooty before Grunty takes away her beauty.

Graphics
9/10
Walls lined with murals of animals, enemies and vines, water that drops from the ceiling and creates ripples in the puddles on the ground, and rivers that flow so smoothly and realistically.Yes, you are playing Banjo-Kazooie.When the game was released, these were the best graphics on the N64.And it's not surprising considering how much detail was put into the game. But it's also cartoony and colorful and only slightly blocky. The worlds look amazing, colorful and fully detailed. The characters are very well done too, with facial expressions to add to it.You'll be surprised at how wonderful the game looks, just as I did.

Music/Sound
10/10
Some of the best music I've ever heard in a video game. You can tell when it gets happy and cheerful, or mysterious, scary, or suspenseful.Everything fits perfectly and sounds absolutely wonderful. And one of the coolest things about the music is that you have a main theme that changes instruments and tempo depending if you're in a cavern, or under water.
You can tell that a lot of thought and detail was put into the game because you can hear effects like water splashing or you can sometimes here Grunty cackling in the distance.
When the characters in the game talk, they make interesting and sometimes funny noises. For instance, for each word Grunty speaks, you hear a grunting noise. This can get slightly irritating, but it's also cool and funny most of the time.

Gameplay
10/10
The game is set in Spiral Mountain, home to Banjo and his friends. It's a beautiful, lush, carefree place with fields of flowers, rivers and beautiful waterfalls. And right in the middle of it all, is a huge spiral mountain. At the top of the mountain is a bridge that leads to Grunty's huge lair, where she brought Tooty. Her lair is huge and full of many different worlds you have to travel through in order to save Tooty.
In each world lies 10 jigsaw pieces, for short, jiggies. To enter each world, you have to collect enough jiggies to finish a picture frame on a wall. You can then enter the world, and get more jiggies to progress.
But jiggies aren't the only thing to collect, in each world lies 100 notes, which you collect to open doors. And a family of Jinjos to save.
The puzzles are very fun, sometimes hard, sometimes easy. They can be very clever at times, and often take a while to figure out, or to complete.
Besides your regular jump, punch, roll attack, etc., there are many other moves for you to learn that are all taught by Bottles the mole. You will learn to fly, jump abnormally high, ride on Kazooie's back to get up steep slopes, shoot eggs, and many more awesome moves.
Sometimes you'll have to change into different animals and such to solve puzzles and earn access to certain areas.Mumbo Jumbo, the shaman you meet in the first level of the game, will use his magic to help you do that. But of course, you have to give him a certain ammount of Mumbo Tokens before he'll help you.(You find along the way)

9/10
This game is very fun, and often times very challenging, so I garauntee that you won't be giving up anytime soon. And even after you complete the game, there's still many secrets to be found, cheat codes to use(which the game actually gives you) and much more to be discovered.Plus it's fun just to start a new file and play the game again.

Overall
10/10
Banjo-Kazooie, in my opinion, is the best platformer for the Nintendo 64, heck, it's the best platformer on any system to date.Yes, even better than Super Mario 64; it just expands so far beyond just collecting stars and coins, and only having a few basic moves. You'll love the characters as well as the game itself. You'll be hooked for years and years on this wonderful game.Trust me--- it's worth it.

gd review man, solid, I'd just like to vent smething tho this isn;t a criticism of your reviewing skills man so dnt worri, it's just that the length seems to be worringly short for many of the recent reviews. i mean I left the forum for about 3/4 months there and b4 I left there was so many great reviews that were long and didn't just have the one heading. Reviews need some structure they shouldn't be jst a random compilation of why a game was oo such much fun for u. Please I implore future review writers to put some time and thought into their reviews, the reason why we have so many is because people are taking 17 seconds to write them these days, this review is the longest i've seen in a bit which is excellent. And the resident evil 4 by quadrixes one was excellent. I mean look at it this way, it is widely regarded that the best review on this site was the skies of arcadia review by samthewise7 , it is very long and is superbly written. I apologise to you yoshi master sorri for tkaing up your space, this is about your reviuew whcih is leaning in the direction we need to go. Thanks for your time everyone,
P.S if you dnt agree wif what i'm sayin pls say I just feel that we need to get gd reviews to improve the site, im nt trying to offend neone and im sporri if i accidentally did! ^_^
