COW!
|
![]() ![]() ![]() Price:regular ds game price players: 2 genre: puzzle/platformer This was originally called Balloon Trip at last years E3, but since then a lot has changed: the first half of a game is just about the same as before, with baby mario being dropped by the stork and falling from the sky, while you're drawing clouds for him to slide downto avoid enemies and collect coins. Now however, you can also trap enemies in bubbles and send them towards baby mario for points. If you are hit by an enemy, you lose one of your 3 balloons, and when you lose them all, game over! It's all very peaceful, with a sun set in the background, which suits the slow pace perfectly, but sometimes you feel it would be better if it was a bit faster... When you reach the ground, you fall onto yoshi's back, and that's when the fun really starts. Depending on how well you did in the first round, you will get a different coloured yoshi. The better you are, the faster the yoshi is, and the more eggs he can hold. Yoshis starts walking to the right, looking for the stork, you now have a lot more control. Yoshi will wak along any cloud paths in his way, but you can also tap him to jump, and tap elsewhere to throw eggs. You must guide Yoshi past hordes fo enemies, holes, fruit and caves to get to the stork. Collecting fruit replenishes your egg supply, which is now your primary method of attack. The graphics in this bit look like a toned-down yoshi's island, but the music makes up for that, with funked- up yoshi music. After a few minutes, you'll get to the stork, and complete a run. The whole point of the game is to get high-scores in each of the four modes. In marathon, you keep going forever until you die. In this mode, you go through lots of different areas, so i prefer it to the main score attack mode. Getting high scores in these unlocks time attack and challenge. In time attack, you must complete the game as fast as possible by collecting.... SUPER STARS! The best part of yoshi's island is improved here, even if it is just a much faster version of yoshi, it feels cool when super baby Mario sprints through a level that usually takes a gentle pace. Also in this mode, you get points for hitting enemies. This mode is very hard, and i've never yet even completed it, let alone a high-score. In challenge mode, you start off the same as time-attack, but when you reach the ground, a Kamek timer starts. Every enemy you kill gets you precious seconds before kamek attacks. You have to get as far as possible before losing. Now for the best part of the game: MULTIPLAYER! The object is to get to the end before the other person, (But i've yet to find someone good enough to last long enough for me to get to the end, so i win 90% of the time.) It's single pak, so all your freinds can play with you, even if they don't have a game. It's basically the same as the main mode, except only the Yoshi bit. You are on the bottom screen, and you see the other person on the top screen, so you can see all their clouds that are drawn. One of my freind draws a pair of boobies at the start of each match. he's very perverted BTW. Anyway, the only real way you can interact with someone is by killing more than 3 enemies with one egg. If you do, they appear on the enemies screen, meaning you sometimes have to immediately jump,or, it could accidentally cause tehm to get a combo, meaning they're back on your screen. Gameplay: 9/10 graphics: 7/10 sound: 9/10 innovation:9/10 multiplayer: 8/10 lifetime/repetitiveness:6/10 OVERALL SCORE: 82% |

To tell you the truth, i don't have that game. I heard it wasn't one of the best titles so i didn't buy it. It could be pretty good though... |

thanks for the good feedback, but if you like it, why has no-one voted for it in ROTM (i thought it was cheating at first, but then i decided it was sad that all those reviews were by me, and not a single one had a vote, so i voted) |
