    Yoshi's Touch and Go
    Publisher: Nintendo
    Developer: Nintendo
    System: Nintendo DS
    ESRB: E for Everyone

Welcome to my review of Yoshi's Touch and Go for the Nintendo DS. This is my sixth review, which I hope will convince you to buy (or not to buy) this game. You're going to have to read to find out whether I recommend this game. Please read the whole thing and not scroll down, see what I gave it, and judge my review on how long it is, which is something that a lot of people do.

I have divided this review into Gameplay, Graphics, and Audio.

We should all know that Nintendo likes to explore and innovate in gameplay. Mix that with the DS and you have something interesting like Yoshi's Touch and Go. Basically, this game has no story, no plot, no character background, and no ending. So what is this game? A short explanation is one large mini-game.

This game consists of four different game modes you can play. None of them you can actually "beat," but you can get a high score. If you get a high score you can select an Icon you can put next to your score. The icons are different Mario characters and enemies. It even has icons from the original Super Mario Bros.

Here are all of the modes you can play in Touch and go, and a short explanation of what they are:

    Score Attack

Score attack is where you start off as Baby Mario falling from the sky. Using the touch screen, you need to draw clouds to direct Baby Mario away from spikes, shy guys, and other Mario baddies. If you have too many clouds and they are getting in the way, simply blow into the microphone and blow them away. Hey, better than pressing a button. If you want to move enemies, draw a circle to make a bubble and you can push enemies away.

Once you reach the ground, Yoshi takes over. Yoshi sees the stork fly by and Yoshi is determined to return Baby Mario.

Now you're on part 2. You're on the ground and you need to draw clouds do guide Yoshi over holes, enemies etc. You can tap an enemy to throw an egg, but there is a limited amount of eggs, so be careful! Tap Yoshi to make him jump. If you're lucky (or extremely talented at the game) you can jump on top of an emeie and get points.

Once you reach the end of the ground stage, you're done. You reached the stork and Baby Mario gets delivered safely (unless this is a prequel to Super Mario World 2). This may sound easy, but if Baby Mario gets hit three times in the sky, you die, and if Yoshi gets hit just once, he dies.

    Marathon

I'm willing to guess this is the main mode of the game. Basically, this is the same thing as Score Attack, except it keeps on going. You try and get as far as you can. You spend the first 1,000 yards in the sky and then Baby MArio reaches the ground. Every 1,000 yards, Baby Mario gets delivered to a different colored Yoshi. Remember you can only get hit once!

Each colored Yoshi has his own number of eggs he can carry. You can only replenish your Egg Count (I like to call it EP for Egg Points like in an RPG) by having Yoshi eat fruit found in the levels. The further you get, the more maximum "EP" Yoshi has. Remember to use your eggs wisely! Near the end of the levels, you won't find much fruit!

    Time Attack

At the beginning of Time Attack, you see Baby Luigi (or Weegee as he calls himself) being carried off by Baron Von Zeppelins from Yoshi's Island. You are in the ground for the entire mode, trying to get to Baby Luigi as fast as you can. Yoshi travels much faster on clouds than on land, so you'll need to do egg shooting and dodging to get the best time you can get. This is one of my favorite modes.

    Challenge

This is another mode where you try to get the longest distance you can get. Basically, Baby Mario goes through another Sky Stage. Once you land, a Baron Von Zeppelin kidnaps him and you must go through a land stage similar to Time Attack, except enemies. There is a timer going and you must go as far as you possibly can. Very fun, yet VERY DIFFICULT!

Those are all the four modes, all very fun to play. If you could find one thing bad about gameplay, it would be how amazingly difficult this game is. It has the kiddy image, but you won't believe how hard this is until you play it.

The Replay Value is incredible. I've been playing this all day. Just try this game and you'll understand everything!

There are a few things in this game that deserve mention before I carry on. Touch and Go has this one feature I like where it tells you if anyone is using PictoChat nearby. It also has the left-handed or right-handed option, and has a Demo Mode that teaches you how to play.

Gameplay Score: 9 out of 10
Replay Value: 8 out of 10

Some people think a game is only good for its graphics, others could care less about graphics. Well, Nintendo doesn't care too much for graphics, but that doesn't mean they'll disappoint you. I can't say Touch and Go has wonderful, revolutionary graphics, but I can't say they are bad. They are better than all of the 2D DS games out there.

You'll notice how pretty the backgrounds are in the game. Bright when they need to be, dark when they need to be. It actually makes you feel you are in the place the game is in. Some parts of the level are in daytime, others in night-time, and it goes pretty smoothly in between the two.

The motion in the game is smooth, which is always nice to have. It doesn't use all of the DS's 60 frames per second because this is a slow paced game, but it is smooth. Yoshi and the Super Mario Babies both look great in the game.

There is only so much you can say about graphics for a 2D game, so let's get right to scoring!

    Graphics: 8 out of 10
    Motion: 9 out of 10

It's always nice to hear good music in a game, and Touch and Go doesn't disappoint. The music is sort of a cross from Pikmin and Animal Crossing. You may hear a little bit of classic Mario music in a few places. The music fits in every part of the game, which means it won't break your concentration at all.

The sound effects are good in the game, basically because there aren't much. You'll hear Yoshi's usual noises, Baby Mario crying and thanking Yoshi for catching him, and Baby Luigi trying to pronounce words. Basically, the sound effects are good, but I'd like to see more of them.

For a handheld, the sound is great. I mean, you don't expect something great, but it does come with it. Let's get into scoring:

    Music: 9 out of 10
Sound Effects: 8 out of 10

Well, I'm done explaining the game so let's get the scores:

    Gameplay: 9 out of 10
Replay Value: 8 out of 10
    Graphics: 8 out of 10
    Motion: 9 out of 10
    Music:9 out of 10
Sound Effects: 8 out of 10
    Averaged: 8.5 out of 10
Not Averaged: 9 out of 10

    Final Thoughts

This game is a blast to play due to gameplay. Graphics won't bug you at all, and the music fits the game perfectly. I recommend this game to everybody!

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.
Pictures would make it better and the headings need to be more noticable! :D
