Duke's Dungeon Guide Salutations! k, this is supposed to be a kind of guide to follow if you ever have trouble in a Dungeon in any zelda game (except AoL, i don't do that :P) First, I'll go through 2-d games, then the 3-ds. 2-D Dungeons ok. The Dungeon map is your friend. Don't be afraid to use it. If you find yourself going around in circles and ending up going trough the same dang rooms, try to get a feel for where you are on your map, and try to keep in the back of your mind where you've been, where you haven't been, and where you need to go. Take things nice and slow. Look through every room thoroughly, then double check it to make sure that you didn't miss anything. Make sure to DEFEAT EVERY ENEMY in the room, if all else fails. That's kind of a golden rule. Make sure you have plenty of bombs handy, ESPECIALLY in the NES zelda, and bomb ANYWHERE that might possibly be a door. Each dungeon usually holds some kind of weapon that you need to complete it. Have you tried it out yet? Experiment with new weapons. If you're faced with a seemingly unbeatable boss or mini-boss, try to be creative. Try out a bunch of different weapons and strategies. Maybe the boss moves quickly; try projectile weapons. Maybe it moves slowly, but has good defense; try bombs. Always remember: anything is possible. Just because something sounds like 'it would never happen', that doesn't mean that it won't work. 3-D Dungeons Just like in the 2-D versions, the Dungeon map is your ally here. If you find yourself completely lost without a clue what to do, look around. You're in a 3-D environment: things aren't just straight ahead of you or behind you, but below you and above you, as well. When you come to a place that seems like a dead-end, but you're just sure that you've been EVERYWHERE else and this is the only way, then... be creative. Have you tried out your new weapons? Go to your item screen and look at each weapon and think about how it might help you move on. If you have a special ability, think about how that might help. (The first time i played MM, i got stuck on the Snowhead temple, and i just got frustrated and started punching everything as a Goron, and presto! I hit this thing that i was supposed to hit, and i was like, DUH!) Also, if you feel overwhelmed by all the things you have to do, stay calm. Take things slowly, one room at a time. 'Argh! I can't find this last key!' You say. I know how this can be... (OoT water temple) The best thing to do is to retrace your steps, covering all of one floor or area completely, then moving on to the next one, and so on. 'Well, I've been there, already!' Think again, bud. You may think you've gotten everything there is to get in a room when you haven't. Also, if you have your compass, that really helps. Fighting a really tough enemy/boss? Make sure to stock up on faries and life medicine if you find yourself running out of hearts too quickly, or stock up on green potion if you can't seem to ever have enough Magic power. Also, when fighting your enemies, know that its not always about locking on with 'L' and hacking away with your sword. Use your other weapons and tools to gain the upper hand. Be creative. Do whatever it takes to win. Sometimes after fighting a boss and failing, it becomes easier to fight it the second time, because you know what to expect. The main thing is to STAY CALM. Hang in there. You'll beat it, eventually, don't worry. ... Well, that's about all i can think of. I hope this will help if you're stuck in a dungeon! And if it doesn't, I'm always glad to answer your questions, whatever they may be. Zelda Overworld Guide coming soon! |
