The most shocking is that the Revolution uses a touch screen as its controller. there is no analog stick or shoulder buttons. The touch screen on the face of the controller is designed to be fully customizable. So, the developer can configure the buttons any way they see fit, or in other cases not use buttons at all, instead opting for virtual levers or other stylus related inputs. While an intriguing diesgn idea, its tough to imagine pressing buttons or directing your onscreen persona without the tactile feedback you get from a standard controller. This also limits a publishers ability to simply port games created for other platforms quickly and easily to the Revolution. In fact, our source states that Nintendo is actually requiring developers to take advantage of unique touch screen aspects if it wants to get approval for release. There are some exciting gameplay possibilities that this desgin can facilitate, namely control panels for flight games, or a wide assortment of customized inputs for specific genres, like the ability to target in a FPS by simply moving your finger across the face of the controller. However, leaving behind the familiar controller layout that gamers have become accustomed to could potentially alienate some of Nintendo's audience.

This could be good and bad...

It'll definitely be very "revolutionary" and hard to follow, but I think that they should make an optional controller for people who don't want this...

    I have trust in Nintendo.
    They've never failed before (well...once...)
    They wont fail now,
PLUS this is a MAJOR positive because lots of Developpers will make games for the new Nintendo Console just to experience its new style of gameplay! GameInformer was worried that Nintendo may be supporting itself again, but I'm sure that lots of Good Developpers, and New ones, will take a crack at this new Console.

Exactly! They're gonna see how the games sell with the new type of control, and if it sells well, they'll keep coming :)

    Post what you all think.

If that were true, and they offered no regular controller, I think it would be a grievous error and may well cause the downfall of nintendo's console division.

IT would be incredibly hard to have the same precision as a controller or life-span for that matter.

I think the magazine is wrong though, to change contollers for touch screens would be plain dumb.
