Nice to see every Cedar Fair park getting something new for this coming season.

I feel Canada’s Wonderlands new flat isn’t really that needed, as they already have a flat that serves a similar purpose. But then again, that’s like saying Leviathan and Behemoth are the same ride. So it should still be interesting.

True about the flat though at least they are making an effort to add something extra. I commend CF for seeking out a classic ride package and distributing it throughout the chain.

Just read on Screamscape that Knott's Berry Farm is going to add a VR attraction for this coming summer. Though it doesn’t specify what it exactly is going to be.

Yeah, at first I thought the VR concept was awesome. But as I dig in more information and what people said about them, I now have more mixed feelings about it.

Also check out what Kings Dominion is going to do this year. http://coasteraddict.com/a-battle-is-brewing-at-kings-dominion/

I'd rather see Augmented Reality over VR. But Given most parks don't offer Wifi throughout the park I would personally hold off on something like this to avoid sucking up my data.

Well good news for Knotts Berry Farm. Montazomas revenge is getting a paint job for this year, and it is going to be yellow. Lets hope this is a sign that its staying at the park.

I like this trend. Canobie Lake Park did the same thing when They opened Untamed.

An RMC makeover of Hurler would be a good move. Easily one of the worst coasters out there.

That was interesting. It is too bad that they didn't stay on top of the dark rides. I don't count and action theater as a dark ride. I would count a mad house like Merlin or Houdini as a dark ride. I like that SFI is adding dark rides but I'm not thrilled that it's the same dark ride over and over.

Yeah, I am hoping one day Cedar Fair will add a true traditional dark ride and making it truly original and ground breaking.

If you haven’t heard the news yet, Knott's Berry Farm is going to remove their Boomerang coaster by April. This is great news, considering that its not Montezoomas Revenge getting the axe for future park expansion.

Yup, heard that news. I get the move the parks demand it to big for a low capacity ride but they did all that round work wen they added that sea side themed flat package a few year back. It will be interesting what they do with the free space. Not sure if thy have any parks that could use the coaster.

With this new trend of wood to steel conversion it's so good to see a park building a wood coaster.

Well it turns out this mystery VR attraction for Knotts Berry Farm is an interactive multiplayer game simulator thing.

Quote:

Knott's Berry Farm has confirmed the name and released the details about their new VR experience, said to be "the first permanent free-roaming virtual reality experience at a U.S. theme park". As mentioned, it is called "VR Showdown in Ghost Town" and it will be ready to open April 1st, exclusively at Knott's Berry Farm.
The experience will invite guests on an interactive time-travel adventure, not to the past, but to a futuristic version of Knott's western town of Calico where you will be met by robotic creations and embark on a daring mission with other groups of players to defend the town.
"The one-of-a-kind immersive experience perfectly combines virtual reality and a competitive gaming realm that will captivate guests. Armed with state-of-the-art wireless virtual reality headsets and futuristic blasters, multiple players will compete against one another for the highest score and bragging rights, as part of this immersive adventure, while striving toward shared team goals. At the end of the VR competition, guests will be able to view and compare scores with their fellow opponents." VR Showdown in Ghost Town will be available to guests to experience at the "introductory price" of just $6, in addition to park admission of course.
While there has been a little controversy over the addition of VR to existing thrill rides and how it slows down throughput, I am very interested in this unique experience which can build on the unique theme of Knott's Calico Ghost Town, obviously has no impact on the throughput of any existing attraction, meanwhile it can add on to the unique mythos of the park's themes. Plus the free-roaming technology really makes the possibilities sound limitless.

I have been hearing rumors that Knotts Berry Farms next new attraction for 2018 is going to be big. And I mean BIG.

So what could it be? Lets see, they removed a coaster. They already have a good inverting B&M coaster. And they already have a coaster that is over 200ft.

Does this mean what I think it is!?

I think I know where you're going but there really isn't much room for a hyper or giga out of that spot. not unless they can cross the road into what looks like a camp ground.

Since this is news coming from Screamscape, and that Screamscape doesn’t always tell the truth, I am going to just report this as a rumor.

On Knotts Berry Farms wild mouse coaster, they added shin guards. I thought the only time any park made this decision, other than Parlous Plunge(which was a troublesome ride to begin with), was Six Flags New England. When they added unnecessary adjustments to their lap bar restraints, which caused max height restriction to drop, forcing taller people to not ride again.

If this is true, than why Cedar Fair! WHY! Its not like someone fell out of a wild mouse coaster and died because he, or she was too big to ride right?

Seems like an odd move. This is a production model with dozens of installations. Why would only one news to add guards.

This looks way more fun than Invadr at Busch Gardens.

This is a much large coaster then Invadr. Comparing Mystic Timbers to Invadr is like trying to compare Boulder dash and Wooden Warier.

Yeah, but thing is Invadr is getting as much hype as Mystic Timbers.

Well heres an article explaining why the shin guards were added to Knotts Wild Mouse. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2016/03/02/family-sues-knotts-berry-farm-after-they-allege-son-was-injured-on-coast-rider/amp/

Invadr Is getting so much hype because fans have been craving a wood coaster at BGW for years.

Wow, So a kid climbed out before the ride was done and before being instructed to do so and got hurt. I can see the park having to cover medical bills but they shouldn't get anything else.

Still think shin guards are a bit much.

Check out this article I discovered while I was on Carowindsconneciton.

Basically 4 new coasters are coming to Cedar Fair next year, along with the rumor of the first ever RMC raptor.
