it was a buckyball.

unless you are a chemical engineer or such, the buckyball itself may not be all that interesting. but i've always thought the story of how they were named and related information was quite interesting.

yeah i've had it with Google. not only did they F up their image search, but now they have made it impossible to turn off the stupid drop down suggestions when you type. screw that, i've removed them from my bookmarks and will use the little window on my Firefox toolbar instead. dumbasses.

I still see an option in preferences to turn off the "query predictions" when I go to Google.

Upper right corner is "Search settings".

Last option is

*Use Google Instant — predictions and results appear while typing
*Do not use Google Instant

I've not seen a way to block the image search (other than using an older browser).

I don't sign in to get these options.

This doesn't stop the drop down results box, but it does prevent the word appearing in the box as you type it.

And yeah I agree that it makes google more annoying to use.

meh there used to be a way to shut off the generic drop down suggestions, so that the autocomplete would then just display stuff i myself had typed before. that was much less annoying than what it does now. ugh. :gina:

well i solved the problem for now by switching the interface language while leaving the results language alone. that seems to disable the stupid query suggestions. ugh.

The older version of browsers (I have an older browser) still has the old version where you can cut out the drop down menu.

Mind you my newer browser gets the drop-down even on the google toolbar on the browser.
