Carol Burnett compared the pain to 'taking your lower lip... and stretching it over your head' :fear:

Yeah, I know it's going to be bad, and as painful as I imagine it to be it's going to be worse than that but...I think I can cope. We shall see :D

A friend of mine went into labor, arrived at the hospital and delivered within 15 minutes. She said it was painful, but short. In fact much shorter than most other women I've known who have kids.

Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones, Sarah. :)

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about Sarah not being around lately. Hmmm, quite suspicious I say.

So you're guessing she had the baby yesterday?

Well I take it you didn't have your baby yet Sarah. Bloggy lost.

If you have bad weather forecast in the very near future that is when you will have the baby.

Heehee, I'm torturing you, Bloggy was close but no cigar!

As you may have seen me metion, I had been having pains for a few days, and Sat night got my hopes up, but nothing progressed! Cramps all through Sunday, then 4.30am Monday I woke up with stronger pains. By 7 they were every 3 mins so I thought I better get to hospital! I drove myself as it was just about manageable, and as hubby can't drive it was easier all round. Once we got there, they put me in a room and then ignored me for an hour, then a stroppy nurse strapped me up to a monitor so at least I could hear baby's heart, but then she vanished and left me in agony, and unable to move much thanks to the monitor!

I'd been feeling sick since we had arrived, and after a bad contraction I spewed up quite magnificently which got their attention! It was 10am by then and once I had cleaned myself up I was led to another room where they finally assessed me. I still felt really bad and couldn't stop shivering, I heard someone say I was 34c, which isn't good! The MW found I was 5cm, membranes bulging but my little monkey was breech! She had been engaged since 32 weeks but it was her bum that was engaged all along. They offered a breech delivery but I was in so much pain and panicked so I went for the section. In hindsight I remember thinking as soon as they mention breech "THANK GOD! I can have a section and they'll take the pain away!" I'm feeling quite guilty about it and like a right wimp now, but I really couldn't handle the pain like I thought I could :(

Everything went a bit hazy here with loads of people in scrubs asking me things, telling me things and continually asking my name and DOB! Having the spinal in between intense 2min contractions was terrifying but my husband and a lovely MW held my hands and everything felt lovely after that! A bit too lovely as I was nearly falling asleep through surgery and hubby had to keep talking to me to keep me awake. I just wanted him to leave me alone for a snooze!

They had a lot of trouble getting her out as she was seriously impacted in my pelvis and if I had tried to deliver it wouldn't have gone well, so at least I can console myself with that. She needed oxygen when she came out, and I am so glad I didn't see her come out, or have enough awareness too have known she was out but wasn't crying. I remember hearing a little whimper eventually, and after what felt like forever they showed her to me and let me kiss her, before giving her to hubby to cuddle. I was still very hazy and it took ages for them to stitch me up, but I saw her weighed (6lb 7oz, dinky!) and when they wheeled me out of theatre they popped her down my gown for skin to skin, and helped me breastfeed.

Lyra Joan Hazel Pascall was born at 10.50am on the 13th, 3 days early.

i think Lyra is a good choice. makes it easy to name a pet when she gets one. :)

Preacher can't drive?

anyway, congrats, very happy for all 3 of you. take care, will be curious for updates as she grows. won't be 6lbs for long!

LOL, exactly the reaction my wife had to the spinal.

Just three more days and we would have shared a birthday.
