Did you notice the faint wording on the lower sign? Falling can be deadly But... you're weird bloggy. You have a thing about flying creatures it seems. Gnats, bats and now gulls. |

ah no i can't see those letters unless i get pretty close to the monitor. didn't even notice them until you pointed them out. that's funny tho. my brother has a whole book of weird signs, it's quite amusing. and ahem. gnats are annoying. they buzz around your face, your food, etc and some of them will bite you. and they are hard to kill cuz they are fast. but i think you meant the soybean aphids, and those only bother me when they swarm in such numbers that it looks like it is snowing outside. that was damn weird last year. bats only freak me out when they get into my apartment and infect me or my cats with rabies. if they are outside where they belong they are fine. as for gulls, you try having two dozen of them hovering all around you because you made the mistake of opening a bag of chips at the beach and see how you like it. they are big, aggressive birds. being in a cloud of them is not very fun. but yes, i am weird.

You have some awesome lighthouses there in Georgia. Have you visited them? Here's a map of ours. Most of ours are rather short, probably because they are up on ledges etc and don't need to be taller. The one we visited Saturday is called Admiralty Head. The one on Destruction Island was just closed down 2 years ago. Sad. We used to sit out on the beach at night (when we went camping) and could see the light flashing from the lighthouse. Now it is all dark. |

LOL! I know, I know... gulls can be a pest at the beach. But for some reason the crows and jays are worse. You don't dare lay anything down on the picnic table that you actually plan to eat and walk away for a moment. They'll steal it! A gray jay actually landed on Ace's head ... well that was up in the mountains.... when we took our picnic lunch break. |

the crows around here hang out around fast food places waiting for something to get left on the ground or thrown at them. i've also seen them tear open garbage bags and have a party. the biggest problem bird around here these days tho is geese. all around town for the past several years, people have been building retention ponds around new commercial and residential constructions. and with the ponds come geese. vast numbers of geese. it's not unusual to see dozens or even hundreds of them sitting around these ponds all over town. and then they spill over into nearby areas, including parking lots and roads around the businesses. they stand in the road as tho they don't care if you hit them. they don't move. and geese are large ass birds. you can't hit them without risking damage to your car. they also get aggressive if you approach them on foot. and they make nests in concrete islands along roads and in parking lots. then they stand in the road with their babies and people are like 'aw, you can't mess with the baby geese, leave them alone!' ugh. 10 years ago the only geese we saw here were flying over as they went south in the winter. now the whole town is overrun with them. ugh.

I've only been on the coast once and didn't get to any of the lighthouses. I'm normally 4+ hours from any of them. |

One of the best landmarks in Plymouth is Smeaton's Tower, a defunct lighthouse that locals loved so much, we had it rebuilt on land! It was the 3rd incarnation of the Eddystone Lighthouse which was (I think) one of the earliest modern lighthouses, and one of the first in Britain

Smeaton's Tower is awesome. I wish we had some similar lighthouses here in Washington state. Also enjoyed reading the history on your lighthouses Sarah. Have you visited many? |

Several of our lighthouses are long since gone. Smeaton's tower is pretty awesome though.

Not really, I think Smeaton's is probably the only one I've ever been in. When we go on holiday and visit beaches I always photograph the lighthouse, but there's nothing like Smeaton's <3 Where it is now is slap-bang on Plymouth Hoe, which is kind of hard to describe, but is basically an open space and some grass at the top of the cliffs, it's elevated from the town centre so the views are amazing, and there's always events up there and Smeaton's Tower is right in the middle of it all. Plymouth Hoe View from Mount Batten to The Hoe: I miss Plymouth sooooooooooo much, I can't wait to move back! |

hmm apparently my mom really likes lighthouses too. she has a map of them for the US and has seen several along the Oregon coast, Gina, among other areas. |

I totally missed your post bloggy, sorry. Well, I haven't seen too many here in Washington, just pictures mostly and none ... I hate to say... seem all that impressive. Oregon probably has some cool ones though. I know their coast down there is awesome.Okay, time for more questions for you all. #25. Do you have a birthmark? #26. What is your favorite Led Zeppelin song? #27. Do you wear hats? If so what kind? #28. What creative talent do you have? |
