i never played the first Shining Force. in fact, i've never seen it. but the 2nd one is one of my all-time favorite games.

I like the second one best too. But the first one is fun (i'm going to tackle the second one once I beat the first, which is proving a bit problematic as its been so long since I played I keep making some bad choices).

I'm currently messing around with Dungeons and Dragons Online. It has some frustrating elements (the control style is mostly terrible but that's OK because I am a barbarian) but it is free so eh.

I do have a Genesis and my original SF1 & 2 cartridges (and a Sega CD with SFCD)...

...BUT I'm actually playing it on my X-Box from a SEGA collection disc. I'm spoiled now that I can save the game at anytime (wish I had that back in 93...)

you can save almost anytime in the original game, in any town (well any one with a church) and also during a battle.
