#29. If you see a 'homeless' person standing on the street corner holding a sign how likely are you to donate money?

There is a paper (can't remember the name now) that is sold by homeless people through an organization that helps the homeless that I have bought in the past.

#30. What was your worst subject in school? You know, the one you absolutely dreaded going to.

Well I didn't like PE because I didn't like the mass showers, but Chem II was the only one I can't say I liked (but then I had senoritis when I took it, so I'm not sure what I'd think had I been more connected to schooling at that point).

#31. Normally, how long does it take you to fall asleep when you go to bed?

How tired am I? :P

Generally not that long. I have a longstanding tradition of ease of falling asleep (fell asleep standing up once).

#32. What is your favorite board game?

Now or when I was a kid?

As a kid my favorite, bar none, was the original TSR edition of Tom Wham's The Awful Green Things From Outer Space. Two players, one plays the crew of a spaceship, one aliens growing and trying to eat the crew. Loads of fun.

Right now my favorite board game is Avalon Hill's Betrayal at the House on the Hill. 3 to 6 players explore a haunted house (built room by room through tiles); when the haunt starts one of the players lead the haunts vs the remaining heroes. Never plays exactly the same and about 50 haunting scenarios.

If you want my favorite classic board game, that'd be Sorry! Nothing more fun than trying to out-insincere the other players when you bump them and have to say "Sorry!" :D

29) Very unlikely. Im much more giving if they arent begging but just going about their day.

30) Math by a long shot. Im terrible at it.

31) I fall asleep almost as soon as my head hits the pillow and I can sleep through a tornado.

32) Monopoly.

29. is she cute?

to be more serious, tho, i have had enough experience with homeless people that i am not at all amicable towards them. then there is the fact that those people holding the signs are more likely to be con artists than homeless.

30. academically, French was prolly my worst subject. but i didn't dread going because i sat right next to one of the hottest girls in school. i did dread going to Chemistry because the teacher was very boring. so boring that i got a C even tho i understood the material fine.

31. meh... usually 20-30 minutes, but it depends on how many disturbances the cats create during that time.

32. Scrabble!

#29. I'm very skeptical of those people. It's possible that there are some legit cases out there, but I've heard too many stories otherwise.

#30. Government/social studies. Hated it. Barely passed.

#31. Greatly varies. Anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour.

#32. Master Detective. I've yet to play the Harry Potter clue but hope to soon.

29: Almost zero I guess. I say 'almost' because I have given a dude money before, although he didn't have a sign so I dunno. There was a recent occasion when I briefly though about buying a guy some food (because his sign said he'd be down for food) but then I didn't. Don't remember why.

30: Chemistry is the most recent one I can think of. Don't like Chemistry. Should NOT have done it in years 11 and 12.

31. Dunno. I never really remember.

32. Probably Carcassone or something like that.

#29. Not very likely TBHY, Ryan always points out their posh shoes etc! I hate it when they use dogs to pull in the sympathy vote, too. Like Amentep, though, I do sometimes buy The Big Issue, as the sellers are "Working, not begging".

#30. P.E probably, chubby, unpopular kid + team games = hell. It was OK when it was things like tennis and me and a friend could have a match, or I'd practise hitting a ball against the wall, but playing hockey or netball was awful.

Science was up there with the most dreaded, too, mainly because I was in a class full of a$$holes in the last 2 years. Chemistry was probably worst because we had 5 different teachers during our GCSEs, and I could never get to grips with any of it. Somehow I was in the top set for all 3 sciences, but I didn't really understand Physics either, lol.

#31. Usually less than 15 mins, when I was in my teens it used to take me 1-2 hours!

#32. Trivial Pursuits, but no-one will play against me any more :(

ice hockey or field hockey?

i'd play Trivial Pursuit with you, it's fun. :) i have the same problem with Scrabble, rarely can find anyone who wants to play. :meh:

i've been trying to figure out exactly what 'A-levels' are in the UK. i read the wikipedia article, but that didn't fully explain it to me. i'm wondering if they are equivalant to a high school diploma in the US, if they are like a college entrance exam, or what. i know A-levels are officially called GCEs. i take it the GCSE you mentioned is something different. did you have to take A-levels to become a teacher? meh i don't understand the education system in the UK (or anywhere outside the US, really).

I love Trivial Pursuit. I thought about putting it down but kind of like the clue games a wee bit more. Ace will play Trivial Pursuit but our edition is so old. And we like Scrabble too, just haven't played it in awhile.

After Sarah mentioning it, I also hated hockey. Bluck! I was a right wing and didn't know what the hell I was doing. Other than that I love PE, especially when we learned square dancing. That was a hoot! It was funny because everyone groaned about it when it was first announced that we'd be doing it. But it ended up becoming the funnest class for all of us.

PE for us consisted of

Sunny, mild day - running on the track
Rainy day - basketball in the gym
cold weather - basketball in the gym
day after a rainy day - basketball in the gym
really hot day - basketball in the gym
Teacher wasn't motivated for the day - basketball in the gym

Never saw any HS do hockey (as it required too much special equipment and a place to play it for ice hockey). Only the ritzy schools did swimming.

Field Hockey, lol, not much ice here :D

GCSEs are the exams everyone takes at 16, we study for them in the last 2 years of compulsory school from 14-16, and we take an exam in every subject we're taking.

After GCSEs, if you are academically minded you can go on to A-Levels (IF you want, it isn't compulsory, you canb leave school at 16), and you usually choose 3-5 subjects to specialise in. The system has changed slightly in the 10 years since I took mine, but I chose English, Sociology and Psychology. You study for 2 years, do coursework and then take a final exam.

Again, this can be the end of your education if you want, but A-Levels alone will get you naff all these days, so you either go into
a) A crappy job
b) Vocational training/apprenticeships
c) Unemployment benefits
d) University

Uni is the route most will take if they've done A-Levels, generally speaking you need to have A-Levels to get into Uni, although for mature students, a mixture of vocational training and general life experience is acceptable.

To become a teacher I had to do GCSEs (needing good passes in Science, Maths and English), A-Levels, a University degree and then to do a 1 year Postgraduate teacher training course. I did all this, plus a Master's degree in between, and I earn £6.50 an hour

Fun! Ours was at least organised, we did blocks of different sports, and had a degree of choice in later years between what sports we wanted to do. It was a choice of football, rugby, hockey, netball, basketball, tennis and badminton and then in the summer term we had to do a variety of track and field events like triple jump, javelin, discus etc.

We got to do swimming in our first year of secondary school and in primary school, and there was an option to do a skiing course on the local dry ski slope but you had to pay for that.

We didn't have a ritzy school but we had swimming. The pool was located about a half mile away from the hs. We had to walk it which didn't leave much time for swimming if you didn't hurry. Fridays.

I guess considering your line-up of PE activities we were pretty lucky. We had lots of gymnastics ... parallel bars, balance beam, rings, trampoline etc.

Our hockey was the first of the year until it got too cold. Later part of the year when the weather warmed up again was various sporty things... softball, running, volleyball.

I never played Tennis until I was in college (really liked it though).

Our school was supposed to have a pool but that was scuttled when they stopped building the school.

We didn't have equipment for gymnastics. The only girl I knew who did gymnastics did it at a private gym (she was a cheerleader and would throw tumbling into her routines).

For the competitive sports we fielded Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Wrestling, Soccer, Baseball, Track & Field and had some equipment associated with those sport (but not completly, our track and field team, for example never got to practice high jump/pole vault due to lack of equipment (except for about 2 weeks when they accidently delivered the local stadium's equipment to our High School)). However other than Basketballs we never saw it. We had a weight room that was for use by the football team solely...
