I'm am not amazed anymore by the stupidity of people. Can they not find something of worth to do?

i have to agree with that, tho in this case i think it's being viewed as entertainment or recreation. i don't think i would call it either, but whatever.

a friend of mine has been having some problems. she's had some run-ins with the law over the years and is currently facing some jail time for drug possession and other stuff. on top of that she's in an abusive relationship with the father of her 1-year-old daughter. she's not even supposed to have contact with her boyfriend, but she keeps seeing him anyway. all of this could result in having her daughter taken away, as if jail wasn't bad enough. she's not really a bad kid, for some reason she just keeps making bad choices. i haven't been able to figure out a way to convince her to make some changes in her life. maybe there is no way. i'd hate to see her end up in jail, but maybe it would straighten her out. i dunno.

then today i stopped at Steak N Shake for lunch and one of the employees was talking to a co-worker about how most of the charges against him had been dropped. what is it, has crime become trendy or something? it seems like alot of people are doing various illegal things. what's happening to society?

yet ANOTHER bat got into my apartment tonight. had just made a late dinner and sat down to watch a video, and within 5 minutes it flies in (from the kitchen i think) and proceeds to circle above me up near the ceiling. i jumped up, shoved the cats into the bathroom and proceeded to chase it around and finally get it into a box. tomorrow it becomes the next in a growing parade of bats that i have sent in for testing. the worst part is i have no idea how it got in. i thought they had been coming under the door, but i had that blocked off with a towel and also it came from the other room as far as i could tell. cannot figure out how it could have gotten into the kitchen.

this is starting to drive me.... batty. i really feel like i am losing my sanity here.

People need to take responsibility for their own actions. Being on drugs and having babies just doesn't mix yet it seems to be very prevalent and proves their irresponsibility. I don't feel sorry for them, but it is a pity that they have little ones that have to suffer for it. I also know people like that. What gets me is that most of them whine about how tough life is and blah blah blah. Everything is just so hard for them, so unfair.
We've got this neighbor to the south of us. He's divorced, supposedly paying child support for two grade school boys. He's lucky to have a good paying job that is steady. Yet he is always broke because he spends his money on drugs. Whenever I see him I usually try to hide before he sees me because I'll be stuck listening to all his terrible life woes that he just doesn't seem to realize that he brought on himself. He blames everyone else.

We used to live in this old house that had a fireplace where bats would live. Once in awhile one would come into the house. I remember Mom and Dad opening the doors and chasing it out with brooms and flapping towels at it. Is there an old chimney anywhere in your home? Maybe one that is no longer used. The damper could be opened, or the clean out door not properly sealed shut. Bats love places like that.

Yeah, they are definately living somewhere in your building, probably in the attic. I dont think they are just randomly flying into your house.

well i agree with you Gina. it's just sad to see her in this situation, especially with a baby. i'm not trying to make excuses for her, just wish there was a way to get her to start making better choices.

i don't think there is a chimney in this building, but there is an attic space, and i have a feeling that it is jam packed with bats and... other stuff.

Hehe, time to go check it out eh? Don your war armor beforehand. And don't be scared, they're just bats. But I would find out how they're getting into your apartment from the attic and if you find it, seal it up. Open an attic window and the bats can come and go and eat the buggies that also seem to plague you.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if they were coming through one of your ventialtion systems. Either the hood above your stove or bathroom or possibly the air conditioning vents themselves. All of those systems use soft ducts that run through the attic and can be could be easily pierced, allowing the bats in.

and yet another :bat:

only good news is i'm pretty sure i found where they are getting in, hole in the wall in a gap between the cupboard and the kitchen wall, same wall where i could hear them making noise many nights before the outside crack was sealed up. i spent 2 hours sealing the whole area off with large amounts of duct tape and this expanding foam stuff. if i can just make it to autumn the bats will fly south or hibernate. either way i'm going to start looking for a new place to live i just can't take this anymore.
