this is a bizarre and often inscrutable film that reminded me of The Matrix quite a bit throughout the movie (except it came out a year earlier, so yeah). the look is something like that of a film noir, with sci-fi elements worked in. the overall tone of the film is well, dark, with no scenes taking place in daylight (well almost none). the acting was pretty good, with the 4 main characters all getting solid performances. i like Rufus Sewell (from the sadly cancelled Eleventh Hour, sigh TV sucks these days) and usually like William Hurt also. this was the first thing i had seen Jennifer Connelly in, but i thought she did a good job. the 'aliens' were a well done blend of freaky and creepy. the plot was kinda murky (by design) and eventually boiled down to a thematic message rather than fully explaining everything. that's ok tho since the movie was more about visuals and asking questions than getting answers.

overall i enjoyed Dark City, if you like sci-fi and darkly themed films, it's worth a look.

I seen this last year. Yeah it was interesting... reminded me of something else too, just can't think what though. Not the kind of movie that stays with you ... imo. I'll probably not watch it again.

I loved the film when it came out; one of the (seeming) few who saw it in theaters when it came out.

Looking forward to watching my copy of the Director's Cut at some point.

Sarah got me this for my Birthday this year (Super-duper edition).
Always liked it and each time I see it I seem to find new levels of it's story :)
