Don't skip it all, the movie ends before the book does

Began "Under the Bleachers" by Seymore Butts. So far it rather stinks.

I finally broke down and got Arkham House editions of all of H.P. Lovecrafts works, and started re-reading them.

Started with "Pickman's Model" and "Cool Air" since I'd seen the Night Gallery adaptions fairly recently.

Goog God, no. Think more like Poe, but odder.

I would highly recommend his work, he did short stories and novellas so they are easy to dip in and out of. They also inspired dozens of movies and later writers.

Try something like The Dunwich Horror, one of his longer stories to start with - there's also a rather good old 70s movie based on it. My avatar alone is Lovecraft inspired, being as it is a Cthulhu version of Hello Kitty.
