Hmm, odd you mention Pink Floyd. While listening to Kitaro there were times when I almost thought I was listening to Pink Floyd. But yet the music is so different at the same time. It's hard to explain. |

I've heard Kitaro some time ago and didn't really think of Pink Floyd either. Listened to Meddle yesterday. |

Okay, I will attempt to explain. For example, taking one of Kitaro's songs (which are mostly instrumental) ,Cosmic Love, if you listen to one of the versions (in this case) on his 'Best of Ten Years' cd, about 2 1/2 minutes into the song the guitar playing is very reminiscent of Pink Floyd. However, if you listen to the same song in another version, it has absolutely no similarity. Far from it. He does many versions of his music. Theme From Silk Road can be different every time you hear it from a different cd, dvd, whatever. |

i picked up the soundtrack for Series 1&2 of Doctor Who. it's a great collection of music. Murrray Gold has done a really good job scoring the series and "Doomsday" has become one of my favorite pieces of music. |

I have those two; good stuff. Of course I have several Doctor Who CDs including various music and incidental sounds from the 60s and 70s. My favorite is actually Who is Doctor Who, a collection of various novelty songs from the 60s and 70s put out a few years back and organized by former Who composer Mark Ayers. Fraiser Hines, Roberta Tovey and Jon Pertwee all sing! (Course I had Jon Pertwee's "I am the Doctor" on 45 anyhow, but not "Pure Mystery", the original B-Side as I had a re-release). And Hines' demo song "Time Traveler" is actually better, IMO, than the two songs that he did release in the 60s.I was always dissapointed that the disc didn't do well enough to get a follow-up, to be honest (I believe Ayers said they had enough songs although at the moment I can only think of "Doctorin' the Tardis" by The Time Lords (aka the KLF aka The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu) and "Doctor in Distress" by a veritable who's who... )

sounds like an interesting collection. if it measures up to the music for the new series it would mean the show has spawned several decades of good quality songs and scores, which is quite an accomplishment. most of the tracks on the CD i have are instrumental tho a couple have lyrics and a few others have vocals without words such as Melanie Pappenheim's haunting vocals in "Doomsday". it's a rare treat when a really good show is complimented by really good music. |

The series has had some really really high points for incidental music (which doesn't relate to the collection I mentioned which was music inspired by the show or from its stars). Its also had its low points (one episode being charitably described as having "farting music" in the discontinuity guide). |

Just got Mumford and Sons album Sign No More and enjoying it. Folksy without being twee, rocky without being overpowering, and full of soul and passion.

A cd I have no idea who it is. Our friend from Australia sent it to us. No label on it. Just said it is a soundtrack that he got a hold of from some game he's played. I think he wants us to discover it for ourselves but I highly doubt I'll ever play that many games to ever find out. It is this really pretty celtic music. |

I mostly listen to all of my stuff on random, but here are some bands I've semi-recently discovered that I heartily recommend to everyone. Locksley. Favourite song of theirs is Don't Make me Wait. Rival Sons. I can't really pick a favourite at present. |
