REMAKE, Tales of Destiny on PS2 Perhaps the biggest new game of them all is Tales of Destiny's remake on the PS2. The graphics will be a lot similar to Tales of Destiny 2 and Tales of Rebirth. The graphics and battle will still be 2D combined with 3D backrounds. Apparently, they are using sprites from Namco x Capcom, a cross-over battle RPG game. They are also basing the new sprites off of the game. Even better, there are new skits, new scripts, edited battle system, more story content and the Chain Combo system. For more picture and details, go to the Official Site. Videos Promotion Video (Gameplay, Hi Ougis included!) Gameplay AR-LMBS - Aerial Linear Motion Battle System A battle system for the PS2 remake...not only is it the same as the previous version, but it is also very different than it's previous version. It remains 2D and left-right only, but it has improved greatly, and it's the newest and best battle system ever introduced in an RPG! Apparently, when attacking, characters aren't limited to the ground anymore, they can launch their foes into the air and continue chaining them there! So you can choose to fight face to face, to take them up into the air and air battle! Posted Image The round diagnol bar with segments is the CC gauge. The red-orange bar is the HP gauge. The Blue bar is the Blast Calibur gauge. The face on the bar represents which character the bar shows statistics for. The numbers represent how much HP the character has and corresponds with the HP bar. The mini-face will change depending on the character's condition. It will show a painful expression if hit or show an aggressive face when attacking and so on. (This also applies to certain Tales games) CC - Chain Capacity Chain Capacity is the replacement for TP in this game. In this game, the CC gauge in battle will have a default and set value. That value varies depending on the weapon equipped or the Swordian's ability and level. When the battle ends, the CC amount will reset, making the game balanced. Every attack uses up a certain amount of CC. For example, a basic attack uses up 1 CC, and Majinken (Demon Fang) uses up 2 CC. That's just the basics. In this game, as long as you have CC, you can chain as much as you want until you run out. Whether you are using a basic attack or a tokugi or an ougi, it doesn't matter anymore, like the other Tales games. You can chain anything when having the correct amount of CC. You can restore CC by staying idle or blocking enemy attacks. Swordians Only 5 characters in this game can use the legendary Swordians. In this game, Swordians can power up or level up and add to the effect of CC performance. You can select a skill for a Swordian, and then use it in battle. The more it is used, the more the ability of the skill rises. When the ability reaches it's maximum level, the skill can be utilized at it's best. Each skill will have their own effect, and this makes the Swordian very customizable. BC - Blast Calibur The Blast Calibur Gauge is a "special" gauge that allows each character to unleash a powerful attack. The gauge fills up as the character attacks an enemy or takes damage from an enemy. When it is filled up, you can unleash a Hi Ougi to dealt a lot of damage! But that's not all! There are multiple level of Blast Calibur Gauges. For example, the first level would be the Blue Gauge. When it is filled up, you can take it to the next level: Level 2, which is green. And you can also continue to Level 3, the red gauge. Swordian Masters can go to the red level, while non-swordian users and Leon can only take it to level 2, green. Emotional Card Chat Basically, the skit format of this game. The emotional card chat features voiced dialogue between characters presently in your party discussing about anything that comes to their mind such as recent battles, events, curiosities, interests and so forth. This adds more story and details to the game and elaborates more on how the character's feel and gives the player more of an idea of each character's personality. Swordians are also included in this Emotional Card Chat. Visually, a portrait of a character is displayed on a card. The card moves and the backround changes depending on the mood of the respective character. For example, it shakes when the character is in a mood where they are likely to shake, such as being angry, attacked or scared. Or if the character is happy, the backround of the card reflects on the happy emotion they show. This elaborates on what the character's feel and makes it even more interesting to listen to. Food Sack And of course, a Tales game wouldn't be a Tales game without it's very own unique and traditional trait: cooking! The Food Sack system is much more improved, just like it's other gameplay specficics. In this game, you can set a food and a condition. When that condition is met, the food will be cooked automatically! Unlike other Tales games, the Food Sack can set many recipes at once, and you do not have to fill the sack by buying food. Instead, you just go to the shop and fill the bag. So basically, it becomes a gauge instead of using up buyable items. Intermission Animation and Computer Graphics Movies If you're a Tales fanatic, you have got to remember that Tales games have anime scenes! In this remake, not only will they retain their original opening theme (with edited logo) and CG scenes, but they will also add anime scenes and more CG scenes! It is produced by the same company that made the Opening Theme, and that company is well known as I.G Productions. Also, the previous older scenes will be much improved and beautiful than ever! |
