GUYS WE NEED SETUPS AND A NEW VENUE!

Deepak offered to help us by asking to rent out a big room at his apartment, but it costs $300 to do so. Do we have any other alternatives that are a bit more cost effective?

Also, who wants to run Melee? I have no idea how that stuff works out :/

Yeah, it turns out this room is fairly big and nice. It can hold quite a few people. I dont think the $300 dollars is going to be that bad really. If this is a really big tournament it shouldn't really matter, as people do venue fees all the time these days. It might cost $200 actually, I can't remember what the lady said. Something to think about.

I would host run melee for this if this turns out to be big and you do all advertising/organizing prior to the event.

if its only $200, then we could do like a $5 venue fee to cover it.

otherwise i was thinking we could maybe hold it in the U of M, Ocho said he could host tournies there sometime. So that should be a place to hold the tourney

Well i could rent a classroom with tables and chairs and stuff for most of a day i think. I dont think it would be big enough for a tournament of this size. I was imagining more our local 10-20 person tournies.

DaOneEnOnly makes me a little nervous with his stuff about illegal gambling and copyrights and whatnot but whatever.

I definetly couldnt do it the 28th though.

I dont even want to host brawl either.

Eh bite the bullet. That's what we did during the summer. Spring last year was the only time that we were 'legal'. In the summer it was determined that we didn't own or have access to 'public rights' and therefore weren't legally allowed to have money involved. I thought about telling people who attended the summer event, but then you always have to worry about sore losers going and running their mouths and ruining it for everyone.

The thing is that administration is the only one that's going to bust you. They don't work weekends, and typically leave early on Fridays. The maintenance staff are mostly students and their manager doesn't give a poop, he's not paid enough too. So as long as no one runs their mouth nothing will happen.

On the bright side you'll get quite the adrenaline rush if something out of the ordinary does happen.

Plus whose the admins going to report you to? The police? I'm not sure the police would even give a poop either. They've got better things to do, like busting up drug dealers, stopping robberies and homicides.

The only real danger is possibly getting into bad standing with the U, and that only matters if you're a student there.

As for the Centennial tourneys. Those rules only apply to whomever signs out the room. The good thing about the residential administration, is they're typically pretty chill. If you ever get caught (and seriously what are the chances), they'd likely just tell you to never do it again.

I've got stuff to do right now, but I got High Score's owner back on to this.

He said he'd be cool with a $5 venue fee.
