Teehee, I see irony above. If you see it too, I commend thee :)

I also dislike the rift created by elitist behavior like the comments exhibited above.

Brawl is good.

Melee is good.

Both are good for different reasons.

Ugh I wanna smash with you guys, but I'm busy as balls. I'm talking to the guy that's going to let us have the big tourney in November about possibly starting a weekly at his shop. I'm busy with theater and marching band, but I'll try to be there as much as I can.

31st is halloween, a time best spent hanging with your friends that spend the night in a slutty costume.

But I would most likely attend an event on the 24th :D

Nappy, I don't care if you're offended by what I said. A lot of brawl players are annoying scrubs, you said so yourself. Do you need to go back to smashboards to see evidence to back up my (and your) claims? And I only starting dissing brawl players in the first place because I was tired and pissed, it probably won't happen again, so calm down.

And on a better topic, When is a good date to have the next monthly? I was thinking around October 24th/31st. Most likely the 24th. What do you guys think?

i wont come to any tournament on halloween. because its halloween.

i dont really think the brawl players in mn are annoying scrubs, how are they being so?

That's pretty much what I meant : /

I don't mean to have an "elitist attitude" it's just been my experience with the brawl community. If you don't like it, then that's just too bad.
However, I will say that alot of the regular brawl players I meet here at MNsmash are a million times better then the obnoxious children that you find on smashboards.

OCT. 24th sounds good to me.

Now, what format should we have this in?

VOTE:

1. Brawl or Melee first?

2. Teams or no teams?

3. Teams or singles first?

4. Both events together, or separate them? (together as in, brawl teams and melee teams, then brawl singles and melee singles. or brawl singles and melee singles, and then brawl doubles and melee doubles).

5. $5 or $10 for singles?

6. $5, $10, or $20 per team?

7. Pools, brackets, or round robin?

So many choices :). I want to see everyone's opinions on this.

melee first.

teams please.

teams first.

seperate.

10 singles

5 teams

RR if less than 10 entrants per event.

pools if more than that and enough setups provided.

or brackets if fewer setups and time restraints.

1. Melee first, no brawl

2. Teams

3. Teams first

4. N/A

5. don't care, i guess 10 (unless it's brawl, then 5)

6. same as last question.

7. bracket unless there is more than 16

when round robin IS done, it should be split up into reasonable sized pools rather than everyone playing everyone. with 9 people, a full round robin took (8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1) = 36 sets to complete. With 3 setups and assuming about 15 minutes per set, that's about 3 hours if all goes smoothly and people are ONLY playing tournament sets. Realistically, singles took like 4 and a half hours if i remember times correctly. If we did two pools (5 and 4), there would have been ((5+4+3+2+1)=15 + (4+3+2+1)=10) = 25 sets, the time is down to just over 1.5 hours (probably about 2 hours 15 minutes realisticly). The extra time could then be used to do a top 4 bracket (about 6 sets on 2 setups ~1 hour since the last two sets can't be simultaneous). That still is less time than the full round robin and is a bit better imo. It's still better than bracket for those who may not make it out of pools (they get 3 sets minimum as opposed to the 2 minimum they'd get in a bracket), and it's better for those who are making it out of the pools (more repetitions of sets against other high level players decreases the impact of chance on tournament results).

I'd like to point out that adding a 4th setup to my first scenario (full round robin) would reduce the time to 2 hours and a quarter. A fifth setup would reduce that to under 2 hours.

why does he keep scheduling his things on the same days as out of state tourneys lol

smashboards scrubs shouldn't count towards the mn community, none of our brawl players are anything lik eyou said.

Near and his friends left early not to ditch out on the venue fee, but because their ride came early. I hope you know that. They weren't trying to ditch to avoid a ONE DOLLAR venue fee. God.

and since brawl got first at his last one, make melee first next time . You should just alternate to please both players. And have brawl doubles in there somehow, and I'd prefer if it was 10$ per team and 10$ singles entry

As far as which one would go first, I really have no preference (I probably wont even be there) and I think a lot less people would care too if everything just started on time. I would even be cool starting an hour or so earlier if it meant everything would be said and done at 9 or 10.

Also, I am not clowning you Don. I am thankful that you do host these tourneys, but your tournies would run alot smoother if you made a concious effort to run things on time and a bit quicker.

I second sparrow's vote. If someone can pick me up (I'm ~ 3/4 a mile away from Sparrow), I can bring an extra setup and probably stay for the whole thing.

Non-regular brawlers need to shower/use deoderant. All brawlers need to get outside and play Ultimate Frisbee.

how is the brawl community of smashboards relevant to ours in matters of personal conduct? honestly, don't make unwarranted ad hominems against our brawl community. If you don't like the game say that, don't say that you don't want brawl because our players are "scrubs."

Brawl first imo

teams

teams

brawl and then melee, don't mix teams and singles, the transition sucks

10

5 per teammate

SEEDED brackets>pools>>>RR

seeds based on last tournaments standings, new people to the tournament can appeal for seed if they dont think they are at the bottom (which is where they would be placed), that way aaron isn't below moe in melee and like if sparrow misses one or two he should still be near the top cuz he's better than most/all of those that would be higher seeds
