I sat down today to learn some yoshi advanced techniques, and it worked! after about 20 minutes sraight of trying to apply what i was learning i can do it almost flawlessly (in practicing conditions). if you are saying "i wish I could do that as fast as aaron", or "i really suck at this techincal aspect, I might do better if I could land it more often" , one way you can achieve that is to practice! if you don't know what to practice, look at some character guides, maybe there are some things you didn't know you could do! |

One thing that I like to do is experiment stringing various moves together while I'm practicing. Sometimes I find a combination of moves that works well, usually something that I didn't expect to work. Like Jiggly's SHFFL'd bair -> utilt -> rest combo. I noticed that if I SHFFL bair at low percents, I remain right next to the opponent. Then I remembered that utilt leads to rest By practicing you get to learn a lot of helpful small things that only come with experience. Sometimes when I watch a combo video, I see someone use a move in an ingenious way. I always think whoa, I would've never thought of that. For example, a Link player jumping off the stage and sex kicking the opponent so they slam into the wall and get stage spiked. Sure this might be elementary to some Link players, but I would not have come up with it on my own, unless I had been playing him for months. Ganon's reverse uair spike is another example. I've been playing Ganon since day one and I never thought to use uair that way until I saw some Tipman & Eddie vids. But of course, the best practice is against other people. Make sure not to practice combos on comps too much because you might discover that your amazing combo doesn't work on humans. I believe that you benefit from practicing on people and comps. Just in different ways.

just pulled off a 61% combo against a fox in training mode, fear me! although it took about 30 tries, and i doubt i could do it in a real match... edit: it turns out most of my moves were stale, it's closer to 74% |

I remember when I first started practicing Yoshi, I could do all kinds of crazy Fumi combos on the comps in practice, only to find out that my way of comboing was completely impractical against humans But it was fun to do lol. I wish the comps would try harder to get out of combos so I could know what actually works. I've practiced so many uair combos with Mario/Doc but once again most of them are much harder/impossible to pull off on humans. |

im pretty sure this works against humans , because the combo is broken into 2 parts, and i do the 2nd part on its own all the time (DI wont really save them, except from the last hit), but for the first part I dont know how DI comes into play. It will probably involve me following them to whichever side they go to. Even if the full combo doesnt work, i can use parts and string them together for mini combos or whatnot. on a fox around 38-45%, uair -> uair -> uair -> bair -> ftilt -> nair the bair usually just hits 2 of the 4 swings. it sure is exciting to find combos |

eci4- I dont practice anymore unless im playing people wich is every Thursday and every smashfest/tourney. That was a while ago when I felt I needed to in order to control my characters better. Beware its hard if you use c stick for everything because training mode you can't use it. |

When I'm not doing HW or studying I'm playing Smash. I make significant improvement every day. Any time spent not smashing is time better spent smashing.

lol the phrase was originally "kneeing", I saw it in this one funny Captain Falcon video. But I thought it applied to smashing too. |

all my friends that I smash with are pretty pathetic, and I kill them too easily. I was wondering if anyone that's around minneapolis could help me get in some extra practice against some real competition? |
