If you've watched those Dope vs. Tink battles in the 1v1 video section, you'll see that both of them use either Back throw or Forward throw whenever they land a grab. I thought it was interesting, and have my own thoughts as to why they do it. Anyone else notice this or have any input on why (mostly) back throw would be chosen over every other throw (mainly up throw)?

I would think they switch off between Forward and Back throw so that they can mess with their DI, and punish them. For example, falco 1 throws falco 2 forwards a few times, so falco 2 begins to DI away from falco 1. Then falco 1 lands another grab and throws backwards, falco 2 DIs in the same direction as he did before, so he's much closer to falco 1. This makes it possible for falco 1 to turn around and Fsmash/dair him/what have you.

Maybe this is over thinking it. Perhaps they just do it to keep them in the fray because it's a short throw, and he can have a free hit on his shield in order to maybe shine him.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing its a mindgame that is DI dependent.

Yeah I noticed that. Seems like if they expect them to DI forward, they'll throw back and try to land an fsmash. I don't know though, usually uthrow works best for me, idk why they do fthrow and bthrow.
