Smooth as butter the cogs in the plan turned and only an empty alley save Adrian and the car blocked a clean get away. Jonathan dumped Charles into the cars trunk. Both men fit snugly into the trunk. The signal was given to move out. Their destination would be a business in the next section of the city, the Serendipity. On the front it looked like an gentleman's club for the rich, which it did through the use of high class dancers and the finest of Opium. While Anthony Vella and the old guard abhorred the drug trade Calanthe Villa had no restriction. She believed it was the future of the Family she considered securely hers. The Serendipity was also a safe house used for soldiers going the the mattresses and a quiet place to interrogate the crews newly acquired "friends". |

Once Adrian sensed movement, his hand moved quickly to his revolver. Once Jonathan appeared in the rear-view mirror however, Adrian holstered his weapon and started the engine. He tapped the rhythm to the song on the radio onto the steering wheels as his comrades re-entered the car, staring straight forwards. Despite the fact that everything had seemingly gone to plan inside the diner, Adrian's old scars on his back were itching. This was hardly due to his shirt; the finest cotton money could buy, naturally. No, Adrian's wounds only became irritated like that when something bad was about to happen. The man was decidedly not superstitious, but he had learnt after all these years to listen to his instincts, and he tensed. Mao got back in next to him, and must have noticed Adrian's discomfort as he gave the driver a raised eyebrow of question. Adrian gave him a tight smile, and as soon as he heard the last door shut, he quickly pulled out of the alley and back into the traffic; which had mercifully lessened after their short time away from the road. The rain however, had not, and Adrian had the window wipers on full as he drove. He felt as if something needed to be said. "Step one complete eh? On to The Serendipity then; I for one could go for a nice single malt." |
