As Monte and Africa took to the medbay, Biff in tow, Kenji gave one last nod of assurance to his partner in crime before taking to the back of the mule. His quarry, still unconscious (likely from a refreshing gun butt to the head) and tied up, was piled onto the back. "Let's get moving, then. I'll navigate." He said, smiling to Zeke. The pilot was clearly in his natural habitat. Together, the pair took off across downtown, Kenji giving directions as they made their way towards the office block his employers occupied. It was only a few minutes into their ride, however, that the young pilot spotted a familiar tail. Another mule, this one in perfect condition, was keeping close on their tail. They weren't sticking too close, but instead clearly on a recon mission, trying to track down just where Zeke was headed. More trouble. |

After showing Africa and Monte to the crew quarters he proceeded to the bridge. He ran checks on fuel and flight status. It was busy work he knew. Zeke was a genius behind the stick as he had seen himself when they left Deadwood. I need to keep busy. Make sure all's squared away in case worse turns to...well we all know what it can turn into. Everything had been made ready under Zeke's professional hand. The Dream was refueled and fully flight ready at the push of a button. Biff smiled at the pilot's work. Push of a button and I get more whiplash. Heh heh. The man likes his speed. Having made sure that all was ready on the bridge Biff returned to the cargo hold and began securing what little they had gotten into. He did the same for the med bay and the arsenal. Righting everything they had in their haste to get planetside so that by the time he was done the arsenal was completely secured again and the med bay didn't look like three people just dressed various wounds in it. Please just call and say the job is done Kenji. Biff sat back down in the bridge checked his reloaded weapons. "I am starting to have that old familiar bad feeling." |

AFRICA CHAMBERLAIN "I don't think so." She replied regarding any scalp injuries. THere were none, but a slight concussion did seem obvious given a slightly confused state. Her wound were entirely abrasion which required a lot of healing salve. Her alertness came back while getting care in the Med bay. She wore very little due to the wide application of the salve when they were taken to their quarters. Quick more complete introductions were made. Alone Africa held onto Monte for a few minutes. "I asked for a new life of exciting times. And I get it." |

Monte smiled in support to Africa's comment. "Looks like you're getting back to the feisty gal I love. I take it Zeke and Kenji are off running down theories. Biff is up on the bridge getting us prepped. If you're feeling up to it, we can join him and see if there are other concerns. Such as guarding the bay." He gave her a hug, wrapping her in his strong arms for security, and then letting her go. He turned suggestively toward the door, as if getting ready to leave.

On board the vessel, a crackling sound came through the speakers on the bridge just as Biff felt the relaxing cushion of the pilots seat soak in around him. The voice that crackled around the room was almost totally nullified by static, likely caused by wind on the mic, but the gunslinger recognized it quickly enough. Kenji's voice was loud and panicked. "Got more trouble --- probably should --- need you to --- another pickup loc ---" Then the static was gone, either the line disconnecting or Kenji just waiting for a response. Regardless, their troubles hadn't ended. No, they were just getting started. Among the loud confusion on the bridge, and with Monte and Africa predisposed downstairs, nobody noticed a slight figure creep on board the vessel just as the cargo bays doors began closing up. |

A Reaver's Nightmare
|
It was a perfect hand, she'd played it by the numbers and calculated each raise. In her mind there was ninety percent chance of success, there were only two hands that could beat hers and she knew that. The last card flipped and she pushed all in, being the small stack she wasn't busting anyone but a win would get her that ticket off this planet. Her stomach was in knots as each player around the table folded, getting more anxious with each muck. Then it happened, another push from the man directly across from her who shoved his chips in. they locked eyes like two duelists getting ready to draw. Shooting first Beck laid her hand down, her lips struggling between the two potential outcomes. Exuberance and lethargy. It was a moment both eternal and all too brief as she saw in his eyes the look she didn't want to see. His cards now showing she saw that she was beat and the pain of the loss echoing as she watched her chips cross the board. She had busted out and her hope of paying for passage was now gone. Slinking away from the table she hefted her bag in one hand and ran her hand up her forehead, brushing her hair from her face as she heard the laughter of the man as he stacked his chips which now looked like the sky-scrapers she left behind on Londinium. She slipped past a couple at the bar before walking into a wall of stench derived from cigarettes and booze emanating from an oriental man which made her cringe and expedite her exit from the bar. Once outside she leaned over and picked up her recent travelling companion, a metal pole she picked up while working as a runner on Boros for an emergency clinic. In her despair however it merely dragged along the ground as she wandered aimlessly contemplating how she would get out of this. She could call her aunt back home and ask for the funds but knew that would come with the addendum of returning home and facing Aunt Beru's wrath for having ditched her obligations of completing medicine school. Her brother might also give her that tongue lashing. Her sister might be the most willing to help but hadn't the means as she had scorned the family money and was struggling with a drought back on the ranch. No, she was very much alone to fix this mess. As the wayfaring practitioner trudged through the streets she found herself at the spaceport. Looking around she saw many boards advertising safe passage to the outer rigs. The kicker was always that price tag at the bottom of the advert. Then it came to her, the stupidest idea the bright girl could concoct. Stowaway. She circled the port for quite awhile trying to talk herself in and out of doing what would either get her shot or spaced if she were caught maybe even worse if she picked a ship with a crew sadistic enough. Finally coming to her senses she turned and headed away from the spaceport, figuring a couple weeks on this rock might not be too bad if she could find work. She was some miles away from the spaceport when a couple of mules blew past her with a group of unsavory types filling them, weapons in tow. Her sister always said that she should have been named Catherine after her mother as she was curious like a cat and it was sure to kill her. While it was always said tongue in cheek there was no denying it was based in truth. Dropping her staff she hightailed it behind them as they headed seemingly for the spaceport. As she drew closer the distinct sounds of a gunfight began to erupt. It started with three shots, each spaced out but loud even at this distance indicating possibly a revolver or a rifle of some sort. Then the frenzy began as the crack of gunshots and intermittent explosions erupted in the butterfly effect type ripples caused by the initial blasts. As quickly as it began it was over and she had barely made it back to the spaceport before a managing to get a glimpse of the aftermath. A woman was being carried up the ramp, two others loaded a bound man on the back of one of the mules that had incited her curiosity and blew past her. She couldn't tell if they were the same men who had arrived as there were many dead around the ship, smoke billowing from one of the mules which was now no more than a heap of burning metal. Before long she was alone in the spaceport but saw an opportunity as the ship's ramp was still down. She slipped closer as she realized what her intentions were. "I'm gonna die. I am so going to die. Beck, turn around. Turn around you fool." She didn't turn around and instead crept into the cargo bay, keeping a careful eye out for any crew who might catch her. It seemed she was alone for now and found a stack of crates to hide behind as the door began to shut behind her. "Oh I am so dead." She repeated in muttered words as she crouched down, hugging her knees and praying that wherever they were heading was a short ride. |

Biff sat upright as the silence was broken by the communication. He punched in the coordinates that accompanied the wave and hit the internal comms system. "Monte, Africa we are flying to another location. Sounds like our boys are in dire straights." Biff closed the cargo bay and took the helm. Off we go! The Dream lifted off ground and flew swift and smooth into the sky. She certainly handles like a dream. Edited by biffcalhoon, Feb 6 2016, 04:03 AM.

"Where do you think you're going?" She asked playfully, "I'm feeling a bit feint." Africa put her wrist at her forehead and pretended to be about to swoon. She move a little, a pain shot through the skin around her shoulder. "And I do think I might need some more...." By then she was back in Monte's arms kissing him. Biff, "Monte, Africa we are flying to another location. Sounds like our boys are in dire straights." "Hmm. The life of the Queen and King of the Buccaneers never ends." Africa reached for a couple garments that she thought would not soak up to muck of the salve that covered near a third of her body. Her mind cleared as they made their way to Biff on the bridge. |

Monte returned the welcome kisses, but then reacted to Biff's announcement. As they separated, and Africa redressed herself, he recovered the shotgun leaning against the doorframe, and checked the chamber. "Tell Biff I'll be in the cargo bay on standby. In case there's any more gun play where we're going, I'll be ready for it."

Zeke's hands were a blur over the mule's controls; making minute corrections that allowed the vehicle to weave insect-like through the heavy afternoon traffic. Out of the corner of his eye Zeke could see Kenji's white face as he involuntarily flinched every time the pilot came within several inches of another speeding vehicle, which was often. Images of his youth racing across the deserts of Persephone flashed through his mind, his old flight caps's loose flaps smacking him repeatedly in the face. Mule's were never built to travel at these speeds, but under Zeke's masterful control is rocketed down the streets. The pilot was far too focused on driving to see what Kenji did, and when his friend got on the radio his words were lost to the wind. Zeke didn't have time to be worried about what else was going on, his life was speed. They would arrive at the drop-off point in a few minutes, and Zeke hoped that would make the last of his troubles. |

With his limited know-how putting to fate of the little mission in his hands, Biff began to reproduce the start up procedures he'd watched Kenji master over the last weeks. Zeke and Akechi were in trouble and this whole little rock was starting to feel a whole lot like unfriendliness. It was time to wrap things up and get out of here. With the cargo bay door finally closed , the Dream began to slowly rise from its platform as Monte made his way upstairs, Africa taken care of for the time being and resting (somewhat) calmly in the medbay. He was seemingly unaware, upon arrival, that he wasn't alone in the storage area. Out on the streets the mule sped around corners and down sharp alleyways, far exceeding the expectations of the small vehicles engine. A few moments into the chase, the unfamiliar ping of bullets against the ground - exploding clouds of dust and all - sent Zeke swerving and veering this way and that. Loud in his ear, Kenji returned fire as onlookers screamed and dived out of the way. A few moments later, rounding another corner, the pilot felt a firm clasp on his shoulder. Kenji pointed ahead, wincing against the wind that battered his face. His finger lead Zeke's eyes to a large, somewhat 'Core' looking office building that seemed to be their target. There was an old fashioned vehicle rink just outside the front door, plus what looked like a ramp that went down to an underground vehicle hangar. In the sky, the Dream began to pursue, only a few moments away from where their ground-counterparts were. Only a block from the office building was another large industrial warehouse that was marked on the screen in front of Biff as private property. It's roof was open, though, and the makeshift hangar inside was clear. |

Biff eyed the warehouse carefully yet quickly. Zeke and Kenji were under heavy fire. He swung the Dream into the open hanger and touched down with barely a nudge to signal they were on the ground again. Biff reset the controls so that Zeke could get them into the black in a hurry. Satisfied with his work he headed down to the cargo bay. To meet up with Monte and Africa. Biff was ready and loaded for fun and he knew that his new friends were too. In their short time already together they oozed professional skills. It was something he could pick up from his days as a bounty hunter when he was flying solo. In the hanger bay Biff opened the ramp. He ran down the ramp as it lowered and smiled as it seemed that someone was expecting to load up a ship here soon. stacks of crates stood in improvised fighting positions at the bottom of the ramp. He looked back at the others. " Okay the others are at an office building a block away!" Pointing out the side door of the hanger in the direction of where the mule was headed. "Let's get moving to give our boys some backup." Biff began a forced run that sent pain up his leg with every step. He was used to pain. They were old friends. |

AFRICA CHAMBERLAIN. As Monte departed Africa adjust her clothing to be loose enough not to irritate her long patch of abrasions. She sat on the floor and took a lotus position. There was more to do it seemed. Her mind settled, her spirit soothed her body. 'Mind over matter my eye' the chuckled to herself. Chi coursed through her body. Thoughts left her even as the ship and the open comm in the Med bay announced the movements and plans of the rest of the crew. Half an hour and her body felt refreshed. She rose. Her wounds wet in several places against her body. After a slightly comical quick set of forms she was satisfied that she could move well enough though it was obvious she should refrain from anything strenuous until necessary. The crew gathered in the cargo bay, she headed in that direction; tossed her hair back and smiled. Another adventure, the pain partition with medication and meditation. Africa Chamberlain smiled. Love and adventure. It was more exciting than he could have possible imagined. |
