"No, stay down," Beth said firmly and placed a hand on Abe's shoulder to hold her down. "If you don't stay lying down I will have to sedate you. The alternative is that you end up with the lung not reattaching to the chest lining and then you will be down to twenty to twenty-five percent capacity on that lung for the rest of your life. Is that what you want?" Beth's voice was starting to tremble as she got toward the end of her speech; confrontation was not her thing and in the past she had fierce senior nurses to back her up. She felt very much alone and so very very small. "If the Captain overrides me then you can do what you want; until then you will do I what I think is best and right now you are stopping me from seeing to Mike." Beth added, her earlier question having been largely rhetorical. Without waiting for further response from Abe she headed toward Mike. Another woman was there already and she heard her tell Mike that she was a bit of a medic and heard her initial assessment. "Med bay is just here," she said, pointing behind her. "Help me get him on the table, please and we will have a proper look." Beth hoped that she wasn't going to have more trouble with these two as well; the sight of Mike's blood on top of having to be firm with Abe had drained the colour from her face and she was feeling a little more than a little weak at the knees. "I'm Beth. I'm a bit of a trauma surgeon," she said by way of introduction, deciding to follow the woman's lead on flippancy and hoping both that she had been understating her qualifications and that she had a sense of humour. Then, because she wasn't sure she had got it right and because she needed to know who else might need assistance she added, "I've got a patient with a stabilised tension pneumothorax in the cabin next to the med bay. Did you come across anyone else needing medical attention?" By the time she had finished she was feeling very nervous and was doing her best to lean surreptitiously against the bulkhead for support and desperately hoping that she would actually be able to get herself to the medbay let alone assist Mike.

Siobhán was rather relieved that the fight was over by the time they got to board Glory. She had had enough of fighting during the war and the little fracas at the space port and avoiding a fight was a good thing in her eyes. She would have been even happier if they had been early enough to prevent the crew of the Firefly boarding Glory at all. At least they had arrived early enough to scare off the other two scavengers. "Captain, do you need some assistance with electronic repairs?" she asked, using the comm unit at Glory's airlock to broadcast, not knowing the location of the captain and not being familiar with the ship design. She might have been on one of the same class but to her, ships had been a means of getting to where she did her real work and she had paid them little mind. But electronics were electronics and the class of ship didn't make a huge difference when faced with repairing critical systems.

Ian had brought Ryiobi through the Firefly and back aboard the Glory. In that time she did not do anything on her own. She moved only when prompted and stopped when you stopped moving her. She breathed and blinked but stared straight ahead. Ian was very worried indeed. The four fingers of her left hand were missing, but she still had her thumb. Ian once knew a man that had lost his fingers but had lived a fruitful life with what was left. The man would always ask the kids if they wanted to box as he now had a permanent boxing glove Ian shook his head and worried. He had seen Syl looked over by the doc from the Galiano. He commed for the Doc and was rewarded with her reply. Just next door to the medbay, Captain, with Abe. She possibly has a collapsed lung and I need assistance to get her into the med bay. Jasper was with me but he has gone walkabout." He moved Ryiobi across the Cargo Bay and saw Mike being attended to by both ship's Doc's. He entered the Med bay on the heels of the three. "Beth. She's unresponsive. She was being tortured. They took her fingers." He paused, emotion showing on his face, his eyes moist with unshed tears. Then he took a breath and closed them. When he next opened his eyes, his face was calm and his voice steady. He really loved his crew. They were his family and his family had been hurt. "Ryiobi, let them help. Take care of her. Mike, do what they say and dont argue. He turned and left the room, first checking on Abe. He knelt by the bed and took her hand. She looked pale. He kissed her lips, softly. "I cant stay. Too much to do right now. Too many people, but I'll come back. Do as Beth says. No arguments this time. Sorry for not letting you do your chosen job all that well. I'm sorry for a lot of things but I cant talk right now." He kissed her again, let go of her hand and left the room. He directed the salvage operation and sent someone to find Jasper. He chuckled at the mention of monkeys and looked around until he saw Gizmo by one of the doors. The old monkey ducked back inside the room that was his and Ian turned away. Once back aboard the Firefly he found and searched Rose's room. He located files on Ryiobi and took them back to the Med Bay. It had the control phrases as well as what had been done to her. He gave it to Beth Over the ship's comm he heard another voice. "Captain, do you need some assistance with electronic repairs?" He thumbed the switch. "Meet me by the Med Bay and I'll let you know what we need." Edited by ian dugan, Aug 13 2015, 11:56 PM.

Mike easily conceded to lying on the table. He endured the pain from movement, then reveled in the fact that he didn't expect to move again for a while. ~ "I'm Beth. I'm a bit of a trauma surgeon." That wasn't good for the patients ears. "A bit?" He furrowed his brow and looked to Ayden. "How much of one are you?" He was pushing for at least two thirds of a good doctor between them. ~ "Mike, do what they say and don't argue." "Who was arguing?" He questioned, he certainly wasn't that heroic now that he could feel the toll of his wounds. "I could use the time off." |

Sylandra shook herself out of her funk and slung her shoulder bag, holstered Bruce after spinning the suppressor off and dropping it into her bag. She watched with distracted eyes as people hurried back and forth toward the med bay. Seemed others were more critical than she, and she still had a job to do. She went forward into the bridge and dropped her shoulder bag onto the deck next to the pilot seat. She practically fell into the chair and ran her fingers over the console, bringing up the scanners and weapons console. With Galiano docked next to them, and the Firefly sucking against Glory's side, she felt they were still vulnerable to retribution from whoever was out there. What brought her eyebrow up in concern was the ID that Galiano was broadcasting: that of an Alliance Patrol craft. For a brief moment, she turned to glare back down the corridor to where their rescuer docked, but then she remembered the orientation she had had while briefly on board. A ghost ship of sorts. Decoys and false flags. She sighed and turned back to the screens, which currently remained empty. She toggled the comm. "Ian, Syl. I'm on bridge. All clear far I can tell. We're still on course, slow but steady."

GLORY - ABE Abe was trying to get up, but Beth placed a hand on her shoulder to hold her down and in her present state, she couldn't exactly get up. "No, stay down," "But-" "If you don't stay lying down I will have to sedate you. The alternative is that you end up with the lung not reattaching to the chest lining and then you will be down to twenty to twenty-five percent capacity on that lung for the rest of your life. Is that what you want?" Even with the slight waver in Beth's voice, Abe knew that she was right. She should stay still, at least for a little while. She'd pull herself up off the ground if needed should any other unfriendlies came aboard. "If the Captain overrides me then you can do what you want; until then you will do I what I think is best and right now you are stopping me from seeing to Mike." Mike was hurt? Was he hurt bad? Abe nodded her assent as Beth left the area. Now she was just lying there. All bored and feeling useless. Then Ian was there. What a sight for sore eyes. He knelt by her and to her surprise, he kissed her. His lips were so soft, yet firm. Ian Dugan knew how to kiss, even in a situation like this. "I cant stay. Too much to do right now. Too many people, but I'll come back. Do as Beth says. No arguments this time. Sorry for not letting you do your chosen job all that well. I'm sorry for a lot of things but I cant talk right now." With a small pout she nodded, giving up hope that she could get up and help. But it didn't hurt that he kissed her again. "Kissin' is good. Ya yell if'n you need me, m'kay?" she called out after him as he was leaving. Now if only someone could help her up, that would be shiny. The Med Bay would be better than laying on the floor in Beth's bunk. But then again, a girl could learn a lot about a person from what is in their room. So to amuse herself, she took a gander at the contents of the room. Edited by abbey, Aug 15 2015, 01:08 PM.

GALIANO - AYDEN It was amazing that Ayden hadn't flinched when she had approached her gunshot victim. After all, he did lay his hand on his gun, but she wasn't afraid. She was glad that Rex was elsewhere or the guy might not be in as good as shape as her was right at that time. "You sure?" "The last pretty woman I met tried to kill me." "You think I'm pretty?" Ayden teased. "Well I say tried. She's actually pretty on course by my guess." "Nah. It went straight through. I have a feeling you'll still be walking and talking for quite some time." As they made there way across the ship to the med bay, she noted the amount of weight that he was leaning on her. He was getting a little weak. "Okay, but just this once. Tell the captain I was really hard on you." "Absolutely," she said with a smile. "I think you were so hard on me, I almost cried." Luckily, they were near the med bay and he was able to get on the table with some assistance. Then another woman breezed into the room as Ayden started to look for supplies. "I'm Beth. I'm a bit of a trauma surgeon," A doctor and a trauma surgeon to boot. Shiny. "I am Ayden. Medic from the Galiano." "I've got a patient with a stabilised tension pneumothorax in the cabin next to the med bay. Did you come across anyone else needing medical attention?" Ayden nodded. "Met a woman as I boarded. She had a knife wound and a broken rib? She said she was doing OK and would be by in a bit," Ayden told her. "Do you want me to help you here or do you have a suction device that I could put on your pneumothorax?" Just then, the Captain of Glory breezed in with a woman who was definitely not having a good day. "Beth. She's unresponsive. She was being tortured. They took her fingers." "Pneumothorax can wait a bit," she said as she brought her face in line with the nearly catatonic woman, then down at the woman's hand. She winced at the damage. "Beth, I'll get her triaged. She's going to need some of your kind of help. Missing fingers aren't exactly my forte. I can only bandage and send them to more qualified folks like you." The look on the Captain's face was heartbreaking. He really felt for his crew. That was good. She wasn't quite sure where the Galiano's crew stood when it came to William. "Ryiobi, let them help. Take care of her. Mike, do what they say and don't argue. Some names. Great. Fingerless woman was Ryiobi and gunshot guy was Mike. "Ryiobi? Can you sit down over here for a bit?" Ayden said calmly as she pointed to the other bed in the bay. "I'd like to look you over and see what we can do for you first." She hoped that Ryiobi was in a mood to follow directions. |

Ian said: "Meet me by the Med Bay and I'll let you know what we need." "On my way, Sir," Siobhán responded. Still at the airlock it was an easy decision for Siobhán to duck back into Galliano and exchange her automatic rifle for her technical repair equipment. She was about to head out and then decided that, with two other ships hanging around and with only an unknown crew's word that the threat had been neutralised. Assumptions got people killed and Siobhán hadn't survived the war just to lose it all now, especially now there was someone in her life. The thought of Sonya was enough to distract her for a moment but not long enough for her to forget the rifle which she slung over the other shoulder. It was more weight than she liked to carry but she knew she could drop her toolkit if she needed to. Armed and kitted up for repair, Siobhán headed for Glory's Medbay and approached Ian; it was no problem to identify him; she had done her homework before Galliano had arrived to make sure she could recognise everyone on Glory's crew to avoid the unfortunate situation of shooting the wrong person. "Captain, I'm Siobhán," the tiny woman said, craning her neck up to look at Ian's face.

Mike said: ""A bit? How much of one are you?" "I'm the top two thirds of a Trauma Surgeon," Beth replied with a smile, "The bits that count; the hands, the brain. I just have to stand on a box to reach the operating table," she added. It wasn't all for Mike's benefit; it was for her own too, to keep her mind off the blood from Mike's wound. She was glad that it was through-and-through and that she wasn't going to have to fish out the slug. Ayden said: "Met a woman as I boarded. She had a knife wound and a broken rib? She said she was doing OK and would be by in a bit." Beth's heart stopped for a moment as she realised that Ayden could only mean Sylandra. Her first instinct was to run and find her, even when Ayden said she was okay but before she could move, Ian was there with more bad news and it gave her the time she needed to get herself back under control. She had to deal with what was in front of her and could only hope that Ayden was right and that Sylandra was as okay as she made out. Ayden said: "Beth, I'll get her triaged..... " "Thank you, Ayden," she responded, back in professional mode. "I'll be with you as soon as I have finished with Mike. Shouldn't be long," she added and then turned her attention back to cleaning up the bullet wound and applying dressings, her skilled hands making short work of it. She felt happier when she had cleaned up the blood and the dressings were in place and some of the colour came back into her face. "See, not so bad," she told herself and quietly didn't remind herself that it had been a relatively minor injury without an excessive amount of free-flowing blood. "Okay Mike, that should keep those clean. I'll check up on you again when I have done what I can for Bosch. No lifting or more strenuous exercise than slow walking and if the pain gets worse or it feels tender or hot let me know sooner rather than later,' she said and then after a brief pause added, "Do you want any pain relief?" Beth's cabin didn't reveal a lot though more than it would have if part of a firefight hadn't taken place in it. The underwear that had spilled out of a drawer was modest with only a little lace and the other clothing was likewise modest and practical. There was a flute case that had spilled out of one of the drawers, closed and seemingly intact though one end was concealed by a piece of unfinished cross-stitch. The only other thing of note was a picture lying next to Abe, face up with the glass smashed and a puncture through it. It showed Beth with three others, two women and a man, in a line with arms around each other's waists. Beth was in the picture and seemed to be a little closer to one of the women and the only man is on the end with another woman between him and Beth.

Rex Yangtree continued to rummage and salvage anything valuable from the Firefly. He still had his assault rifle slung over his shoulder. He took a second to look into the med bay and watch Ayden for a moment. Sonya Gulliver made her way to the bridge, watched Sylandra tending to the controls. "Need any help First Pilot, I've flown her a few laps back in the day." Truth be told she wouldn't mind sitting in that pilot's seat just for a minute. Rex joined them, looking for Ian. Looking to see if there was anything he could do. Plopped down in Beth's room next to Abe, Jasper Daltry slept the sleep of the dead tired overmedicated rode hard and put up wet. Bosch/Ryobi blinked a few times, her eyes looked around. "Gassed." she said as she followed instructions. "Pain coming." She looked at Becker. "Renwick." she smiled just a little, "Dugan and ...." she couldn't think of the name... "killed her too quick." |

The joke Mike was looking regarding Beth's top two thirds being trained would have alluded to her height and that top third being absent. His brain couldn't make the connection. At least he was being attended to. He welcomed advice to stay off his feet for a while, and felt a little more on the side of the living. Then he was offered medication. "I was just going to pass out if you don't mind." Becker head space felt like a blur, and looking up at a light didn't give him much to focus on. All he was worried about was the fact that in movies, doctors were insistent that people not pass out. As though it meant certain death. With a tilt of his head, Becker caught Bosch's condition. "Go help her," he said without hesitation or doubt. Edited by Becker, Aug 18 2015, 01:53 AM.

Ian stepped into the Med Bay a full twenty-two seconds before Siobhán He had walked over to Ayden and Ryobi and was about to give her the information he had found when he heard Ryobi speak. "Renwick ... Dugan and ....... killed her too quick." Ian saw her smile and make a face. Before he could get over to her, Siobhán met him. "Captain, I'm Siobhán," Ian turned and saw mike on the bed behind him and the top of a women's head. Ian viewed himself as short. But Siobhán was even shorter. Ian looked down into a face that seemed to always smile and, despite the situation, he smiled back. Hi, Siobhán, I'm Ian. We'll start on the Bridge in just a moment. I just want o make sure the major systems have been connected. I dont care if it's pretty, I just need it done." He paused and turned back to Ryobi. "Sorry I wasn't fast enough. Had I been You would't be in the condition you're in now." He tucked the papers under and arm and motioned Siobhán to follow him. "Right this way" I still need ta get the airlock patched. he thought as he lead the way to the bridge. |

And he would have been happy to pass out, if not for...
Becker's brow furrowed and he eyed Bosch trying to determine her meaning. "Renwick," he muttered. "Rose Renwick?" He asked louder trying to get someone to respond. Bosch's stilted speech made it hard to deceiver, but 'killed' and 'Renwick' didn't spell well for her. "What happened?" The incident had made him too alert to fade into unconsciousness now. Not willingly anyway. He got a jolt of pain as he turned his body to better face those gathered. His eyes focused on Bosch the most. She seemed to have the answers. Had she finally gotten her revenge? |

GLORY - ABE Abe was getting annoyed. She was being as good as a patient as she could, but just lying there on the floor was not only boring, but uncomfortable. Jasper had lumbered in at one point, but instead of being any kind of company, he basically fell unconscious. She didn't blame him. He had been through a lot and she couldn't even imagine the extent of it. And Beth's room didn't turn out to be very exciting. The clothing scattered about was ordinary, if not a little more than on the conservative side. Abe figured she had a little more racy things laying about in her room, but to each their own and the practicality of it all seemed to fit Beth's personality. Finding the flute was surprising though. Abe didn't know she played an instrument. She had always wanted to, but it wasn't really a priority in her life. Guns had taken more of an interest. And the unfinished cross stitch piece? Also seemed very Beth, but then again, Abe knew quite a bit along the lines of cross stitching. It was a required skill at an early age on her home planet. What was most important and interesting was the photograph. It was damaged now, but the bulk of the picture was still intact. Beth and three other folks. She seemed so happy. More carefree. Not at all like the Beth she knew. She wondered what had happened to change the petite doctor. Not her place to find out though. Abe figured that if people wanted to talk about their past, they would. No sense being all intrusive. "Is anyone out there? I really want to get up. There is this suction thing Beth talked about?" Abe called out. If she didn't get a response, then she would have to see what she could do by herself. |

GALIANO - AYDEN Ayden moved around the med bay, doing what needed to be done. She saw Siobhan come in to meet with Glory's captain. Siobhan would make a good helper. Glory was in need of patching up. She also saw Rex outside looking in on her. Maybe it was just to make sure she was OK, or perhaps it was to witness her doing her job. She never really had to perform it before. She smiled at him softly before returning to triage Ryobi. "Thank you, Ayden," "I'll be with you as soon as I have finished with Mike. Shouldn't be long," She barely heard Beth's instructions to Mike as she began to look over Ryobi. "Gassed." "Pain coming." Ayden nodded as she reached around for some pain medicine, but didn't inject it yet. She didn't want to move too fast on the traumatized woman and spook her. She did put it out where Ryobi could see it. Perhaps she would ask for it herself. "Renwick." "Dugan and ...." "killed her too quick." Renwick. Was that who attacked them? "Sorry I wasn't fast enough. Had I been You would't be in the condition you're in now." Ayden looked up for a moment and noted the anguish in Ian's voice. She also saw that he didn't stay, but then again, there was a lot to do. "Could I give you some pain medicine?" Ayden asked her gently as she looked at the mangled mess that was the woman's hand. "I am going to need to clean this wound so Beth can have a better look and it will be quite painful." Mike had perked up at the name of Renwick too. "Renwick," "Rose Renwick?" "What happened?" It sounded like Mike knew the woman, but she picked up the syringe and waited for Ryobi's consent. Right now, she could partake in some chatter around her, but the wounded woman in front of her was her priority. |

Bosch-Ryobi blinked a few times to seemingly clear her head. "Renwick on the Firefly." she answered. "Come for me I conjure. Old feud, been drawing blood on each other a long time." A deep breath and she looked at Ayden. "She said she'd taken this job to end it." Ryobi looked at her where her missing fingers should be, cauterized by a blowtorch. "Ended now." she smiled with satisfaction. Then a look back to Ayden. She nodded her agreement for the meds. |

The last Mike knew of Rose was her being in a coma. Just before that she'd bequeathed a ship to Becker and gave him a personal task, which he'd fulfilled. She was good people. And it seemed more likely that she was here. Though her fate sounded increasingly morbid. Against better judgement, Becker rolled off the surface he was laying on, back to his feet. Rather quickly though, he was kneeling beside Bosch. "She's dead?" He was trying to decipher whether she was having a 'moment' or drip feeding him truths. One thing she was in need of was medical treatment. When he realised, Becker eased off and nodded to Ayden. He wanted answers. But he didn't see himself getting up and following the captain. A little light bulb reminded him of the comm unit in his ear though. He activated it. Finding Ian's and Sylandra's ears. "Renwick was here? And she's dead?" Questioned Becker's voice. |

Mike held his head in his hand, then slumped up against a wall in the med bay. He could at least find some comfort that way with his state of health. "She was a friend Ian." Now they were killing friends, and Mike felt immediate guilt because he'd never explained the situation between Renwick and Bosch. "A friend of the ship too, it's just her and Bosch..." Did it even merit explanation anymore? "Gorram it! Did you talk to her, did you even give her a chance?" |

Mike was comfortable or at least as comfortable as he could be and the discussion of what had happened between Renwick and Bosch was making her feel nauseous so Beth switched her attention away. Ayden was still working on cleaning up Bosch's fingers so she decided to make Abe more comfortable by which time she hoped Bosch would be ready for her to examine. Picking up a portable vacuum unit, she went back into her cabin and knelt beside Abe. She could tell the young woman was getting board and was no doubt uncomfortable on the deck. Beth really wanted a stretcher and a couple of orderlies but that clearly wasn't going to happen. Second best would have been to get Abe into Beth's bunk but Jasper was already there and there wasn't room for two even if Abe and Beth had been willing. "We're going to have to move you which means getting you to your feet. I'll help you as much as I can. The main thing is not to disturb that needle while we do so," Beth said. She looked at the situation and made a decision. "We're going to roll you on to your side and then over into a crawling position and then help you stand up from there. That will minimise bending of your torso. "Are you ready?"
