Ian stopped working on the latest re connection and pulled his PDA to watch the feed from Blaze. He zoomed in on the Firefly and whistled. "They've got a modified gun mount. probably have Grapplers too. Alright, Jasper, Mike, we need Weapons too. So, Lets get power to the launchers and get a couple of Dum Dums in them. I'll finish up power to the engines. We'll worry about Comms and Nav later ... when we can afford too." "Standing by, Glory. I'm dark and in place." "If we're lucky, and sometimes we are, they'll think that the Blaze is a supped up shuttle instead of a Modified Attack craft. Keep an eye on the shuttle but target the Firefly's gun mount. Take that out first. Move when they are at your extreme range. We dont want them getting too close." He replied to Syl then turned back to the task at hand. Time was not on their side today. He tapped the comm to Abe. "Abe, dear, would Wyatt be of any use in the confines of the cargo bay? Cause I was thinkin of which of your boys would do best under those conditions." Things were snowballing quickly, all they could do was react. Mike had his instructions. He moved to meet Jasper and caught Beth's eye first. "How is he?" After the response, Becker pushed their priorities. "Come on Jasp, we're gonna get the weapons hot. Best offence kinda deal." He led the way to the appropriate systems connection, then with this not being his fortay he let Jasper lead on instructions. "You got my hands Jasp, tell me what to do." He took to repairing as guided, and got a few mild electric shocks for his trouble. "Gorram..." Not much time to moan though. The work had to get done. As instructions dissipated, Mike began retrieving ammo for the launchers. |

Abe was about to leave with Bosch when she heard Ian over the comm. "Abe, dear, would Wyatt be of any use in the confines of the cargo bay? Cause I was thinkin of which of your boys would do best under those conditions." She smiled at the "dear" endearment and moved over to a nearby comm to answer. "All my boys would be useful in the confines of the cargo bay, Capt'n," she said as she leaned a hip against the wall. "Well, not Lester, 'cause he's a long range kind of guy. Just let me grab 'em and Bosch and me will be down there with bells on." She stepped away and motioned at Bosch. "Let's make a stop by my cabin. I need ta grab some gear, that armor and all." It didn't take long once they got there (should nothing happen in the in between). Abe geared up quickly. She donned her armor over her tank top. She holstered Dude, Sam and Tiny Tim on her body. She pulled Wyatt out of his case and checked the sighting. Lastly she loaded any spare pockets she had on her cargo pants with extra ammo and threw Wyatt by the strap over her shoulder. With a nod she was ready to go. |

Sylandra grinned at Ian's command. "Confirmed." She made sure the Blaze was on standby with full thrust available, and that the guns were hot and ready to go. She lined up her sights with the topside edge of Glory, expecting either the fighter or the firefly to appear momentarily. Once she had either in her sights, she would go live, hopefully catching them by surprise, and knocking out either the fighter or the weapons mount on the firefly.

With nothing else to do, Beth followed Jasper and Mike around and then remained with Jasper when Mike departed. Her main objective was to make sure that Jasper didn't suffer any serious side-effects from the stimulants but she lent a hand when she could, even if it was only to pass a spanner (sometimes even the right one). She appreciated the irony in playing mechanical nurse to Jaspers mechanical doctor and the grease and oil were a reasonable substitute for blood and other body fluids. She even made a comment to Jasper along the lines when she found a moment when a moment of courage coincided with a moment when he wasn't intently focused on his work. It didn't stop her thinking about what might be going on outside the ship and didn't stop her worrying about Sylandra, alone in the shuttle but it helped a little.

EXTERNAL The approaching Firefly sped up to max speed. The fighter did a spiral, showing a bit of itself, trying to find Blaze. Suddenly the fighter looped around hoping to avoid getting fired on for 'peeping'. Sylandra reacted quickly and fired off a few burst that looked to hit. The fighter took them without incident, heavy armor? It then turned, slower than one might expect, heavy at the expense of manueverability? ENGINE ROOM Jasper gave some quick instruction on how to quickly wire up the cut power lines. The shocks didn't seem to bother him. "Trick is to get a little non-conductive grease on your fingertips." Jasper also took a tiny nip from a bottle of bourbon that he seemed to produce from behind a vent. He gave things a look, "Captain, powerlines to weapons are ok here, need to go to the weapons themselves. You know how to operate the local fire controls?" "Rag." he said to Beth, wipes his forehead, blinked a few time. "Yeah," he replied to Beth. "I considered medical school." he said, clearly a dry wit. "Mr. Becker." He opened a panel. "oh jeeze, here do these just like I showed you." He then hit a switch, sparks flew from the engine. "Gorram, she got the grounds pulled. Clever girl." He turned the switch off. "weapons then." Daltry moved to another panel, handed Beth an battery operated screwdriver. "All these panels off." Then he moved to the engine and slipped under to tend to the grounding wires. ABE AND BOSCH "you and Ian huh? namin' your guns, cute couple I guess." It was hard to tell if she was being friendly or sniping. Maybe both. She watched with interest as Abe got her armor and guns though, with a sort of professional appreciation. |

Amongst the distraction, Jasper small mention of 'her' damages managed to wound him. He rushed through a sigh and pressed on, working on the panels Jasper had now set him. There was a small possibility that he was getting the hang of this. A greater possibility that he would forget it all within an hour. "I know how to use 'em," he said in reference to the manual weapon controls. "Got showed enough times." Syl drilling the point home had actually come good. He'd almost hate to have to tell her that. "Tell me when they're good to go so we can start sizing up the enemy." |

"How...." she started to ask but Jasper had already disappeared beneath the engine. "You'll just have to figure it out yourself, Bethany," she told herself. "How hard can it be?" Beth asked herself, her mental tone unconvinced as she looked dubiously at the screwdriver, not having handled one before. It didn't look that complicated a device, she had used much more sophisticated tools when performing surgery. "Clockwise in, anticlockwise out," she reminded herself as she tested the drill and worked out how to change between them. "So far so good," she thought and then approached the panel and discovered that the screwdriver bit and the screws didn't match. "Bother, now what do I do?" she said out loud and then decided that if surgical equipment had interchangeable bits then so might screwdrivers. She fiddled with the part of the driver that held the bit and worked out how to release the bit and discovered that it was both reversible and that the other end looked like it would fit the screws on the panel. "Now you're getting somewhere, Bethany," she said and applied the screwdriver to the first screw and was delighted when it started turning in the right direction and coming out. Of course after the first couple she ran into a stubborn one that caused the bit to bounce and start damaging the head of the screw. She managed to stop before the damage was terminal and considered the problem. Clearly it needed more pressure on the screwdriver to stop it bouncing, "But won't pushing it in make the screw harder to get out?" she thought. She gave it a try along with a lighter pressure on the trigger so that it turned more slowly and reluctantly the screw began to turn. It went much more easily after that. There were still the odd screws that misbehaved but she persevered and was rewarded by success. It had probably only taken three times as long as Jasper would have taken but at least he had been able to get on with his work. "Jasper," she called excitedly, feeling pleased with herself, "The panels are off."

Abe and Bosch Abe and Bosch walked towards the cargo bay where they were to set up. "you and Ian huh? namin' your guns, cute couple I guess." "Well, Ian gets the whole part of your weapons keepin' ya safe thing, so why not give 'em names? They'd earned the distinction," Abe said with a shrug. "Yeah, we hooked up a while back while he was doing some kind of special job type of thing. Turned out ta be just him 'n me in the Blaze. It was hard not ta fall for the guy." Her expression showed a touch of happy nostalgia. "Got back here with a full crew 'n set up shop right away, but somethin' happened 'n I got spooked. Left in the middle of the night as the sayin' goes. Rest of the people on board probably never even knew I was here," she smiled as she continued. "We're takin' it slow this time 'round." She couldn't help but notice that Bosch watched her quite closely. Knowing what happened to Jasper, she felt a little unnerved by the attention. But it didn't look to be in an inappropriate kind of way; it seemed more like a work interest. Aber always felt it was easier figuring out a plan if you knew what your team members were packing. As they walked down the corridor, Abe asked that sort of thing. "So what exactly are ya packin'? Always good ta know ya teammate's capabilities." |

-Engine Room- JASPER DALTRY "Rat Gose." Said Jasper as he looked at the weapons system power cords. "Reese cut out sections of the lines, I'm going to have to splice new ones in. Captain, the smaller missiles will take to long but we can fire the larger missiles, or the laser or machine gun from the upper deck. which one you want on line first." He turned to Beth, "There, that locker, bring me a handful of the blue coiled cables." Jasper started sorting the separated power lines. ======================== - just arriving at engine room- BOSCH RYOBI Bosch showed. She was packing a small auto pistol with low calibre bullets, excellent for getting of a lot of rounds very quickly, another pistol with a heavy calibre slugs - excellent for stopping just about everything and likely with a non-hull damaging cartridge. Then a couple of throwing knives and a couple of fighting combat knives. "I've also got a garrott in my pocket and some brass knuckles." |

Ian had not been idle. While Jasper had worked on the engine block IAn had been working on the internal comms. He made the last connection and slid out from under the power grid just as Jasper gave him the bad news. "Ai-Ya! That girl is one smart cookie." SHe had disables the simplest system the most, making it the hardest to repair. "Jasper, give me the Laser first, then the machine gun, Mid range missile pack and finally the Dum-Dums." He moved to the Ship's Comm unit and thumbed the All Comm, he had verified that the unit was operational and that the system was what was down prior to.
He heard his voice through the speakers. Even if the other speakers were not working, the ship was not that big that the sound of his voice over the system could not be heard from the engine room. Before he left for the bridge he asked Bosch to go help Mike load the guns and asked Abe to stay and help Beth and Jasper, once they picked a spot for the not so welcoming committee. On the Bridge he saw Syl in the Blaze fire on the shuttle and the other shuttle shrug it off. Ian powered up the weapons control for the laser and waited for the system to turn green Edited by ian dugan, Jul 13 2015, 11:46 PM.

Sylandra grimaced at the fighter's reaction to her burst, then gritted her teeth and slammed the throttle hard over. The Blaze flared and streaked straight at the Glory, and the firefly beyond it. She aimed for the top of the Glory, putting the fighter on the opposite side, using the bigger ship as a shield. As she came over the top, she put the weapons platform of the opponent in her sights, and toggled two missiles at it. She followed up with a staccato of the Blaze's heavy guns, ripping through the cloud of black and red smoke from the explosions. Tapping the yoke slightly, she brought her pip onto the glass bridge and fired a second burst. She cut throttle and let the Blaze sail past the mid-bulk ship, flipped it over on its tail and tapped just a touch of thrust to brake. Her guns tattooed a series of heavy lead into the tail section of the intruder. She rolled over and slipped under the Firefly, looking for her next target.

Beth's smile and excitement at having managed to get the panels off by herself died as Jasper seemed not to share it. "He doesn't know your general lack of competence when it comes to your use of non-surgical tools, Bethany, she told herself but it didn't really help. Jasper said: "There, that locker, bring me a handful of the blue coiled cables." Still lost in her own thoughts, Beth nearly missed both Jasper's request and his indication of which locker she should be looking in. "What?" she asked involuntarily before her brain caught up and unscrambled the message. There was still the matter of the right locker but she had caught the tail end of his action so at least it narrowed it down to three. She knew she could ask which one he had meant but that didn't come easily to Beth and she decided that the fastest thing was to open each locker in turn and hope she could quickly locate the requested items. "Nothing here," she said then, seeing something blue at the back, she added, "Never mind, I think I have found them," as she reached in an pulled out something that to her looked liked coiled blue wires. "Are these what you wanted?" she asked, the trembling of her voice giving away her trepidation. She hoped she had got it right but expected that she would have got it wrong.

"Keep up the good work Jasp," uttered Mike as he rushed to where the machine guns were housed. As instructed, he swiftly began loading up the machine guns. It wasn't too dissimilar to one of his weapons, just a lot bigger. The weight of the ammo assured him they'd make an impact. Once they were back online that was. Becker continuously checked his connection to see I Jasper had put him in the game. But no electricity came and so the gun was without firepower. He reached for comms "Just waiting on power. We got a plan here, or pretty much raising hell?" |

In the Corridor Abe looked on with interest as Bosch went through what she was armed with. An auto pistol - good for hitting as many things as possible in a short period of time - another gun with large caliber rounds - some things are just better with a large hole in them. They were good weapons. She hadn't named them though, but Abe understoodthat many did not think as she did. Then she went on to show her some pretty impressive knives too. "I've also got a garrott in my pocket and some brass knuckles." Abe nodded in approval. "Never been much for the hard core hand ta hand. I had a good many lessons from the Capt'n, but they are more strike 'n run than an offensive thing," she said with a shrug. "I'm just a bit on the petite side and I would rather shoot someone. Less risk ta my pretty face." With that, Abe gave Bosch a big smile. Then she heard the message on the internal comms. It was the Capt'n. "Mike, forget the Dum Dums. Reese mucked with them the most. Prep the Machine Guns and I'll perp the Laser from the Bridge. I'm sending Bosch your way." Abe muttered a curse under her breath. Damn treasonous mechanic messed with their defenses? This was bad. Then she wondered why she didn't get sent to the machine guns. She was good with the turrets and economical with the rounds. Then they ran into Ian in the Engineering area, where he asked her to stay and help Beth and Jasper. She couldn't believe it. He was headed to the bridge by himself when they could be boarded very, very soon. He must think her a crappy bodyguard or maybe he was sheltering her somehow or maybe he even thought he didn't need one. Any of the answers hurt though. But now was not the time to argue. She'd get to that after they got free of their current predicament. If they got free. Then she heard Becker. "Just waiting on power. We got a plan here, or pretty much raising hell?" Was there a difference between having a plan and raising Hell? Her plan was to eradicate anyone coming onto the ship who didn't ask permission first. "What can I do?" she asked Jasper and Beth. "Don't know much about mechanics, but I learn fast and take direction well." |

OUTSIDE GLORY Sylandra saw something horrific. The attacking ship flickered, then there was an explosion. But it was not that of a Firefly, it was the fighter. Their enemy had deployed some sort of holographic illusion. The fighter rolled out of control. An ejection capsule blasted away from the exploding wreckage. Closer to Glory, the fighter flickered and 'became' the Firefly. It closed on Glory, a magnetic grappling hook shot out and struck Glory with a resounding thud all through the ship. The Firefly quickly closed in and attacked to the lower deck entry. A second thud of entry explosives went off and the boarding party entered. ENGINE ROOM "That's it." said Jasper to Beth. "Now,," he quickly spliced off the protective covering from one of the cables. "Cut three more just like that." He handed her the splicing knife. Then a loud Thud. Jasper lifted his head. Then the second thud. He looked to Abe, "I think you're going to be needed on the lower deck Miss." BRIDGE Ian found nothing he could do there. From the front window he saw the deception and then the two thuds. He knew exactly where they were. UPPER DECK Becker too found he was on a fool's errand. They simply had not been fast enough to forestall the boarding. But he wasn't sure where it was coming from. |

Becker had watched events unfold from behind the guns. As the grapple was launched, he instinctively abandoned any idea of a plan, locked sights on the source and pulled the trigger. But of course, there was no power. "Jasp! Tell the minute you have us online, we need to break their tow," called Becker over the comm before an explosion conveyed the likelihood that they were compromised. He knew the top deck was clear and all he could do was work down. "Call 'em as you see him!" Mike shouted, needing to know where efforts should be converged. He drew his gun and made for the first stairway, looking for the damage that indicated entry. His mind then went to the less combat efficient crew members. Jasper and Beth didn't know this dance. Checking his corners, Mike made for the engine room. |

Beth smiled when Jasper told her that she had got him the right wires, her face transforming to reveal the beauty she possessed but almost constantly hid behind her trademark frown of anxious worry. Sharp knives, precision and high stakes was something she understood. Admittedly the stakes were generally confined to a single person at a time but she was used to making incisions with hundredths of millimetre accuracy so in that respect the task was relatively trivial for her, especially as Jasper had provided her an example to work from. In very little more time than it had taken Jasper she created the identical splices and if her cuts were a little neater it wasn't something she was going to point out. Abe said: "What can I do?" Beth was just finishing the last wire when Abe spoke and she had no idea what else needed to be done so she left it to Jasper to respond. She offered the wires back to Jasper just as the first thud sounded and she flinched noticeably, letting out a little squeak of fear and the anxious frown reappeared on her face. She flinched again with the second thud but managed to hold back the squeak. "Is there anything else I can do, Jasper?" she asked. It was not an entirely selfless request; Beth needed something to occupy her mind and even at the risk of heightened stress and increased anxiety that she would make a mistake, helping Jasper was very much better then sitting around waiting for the wounded to arrive.

Sylandra cursed under her breath as the imitation firefly was replaced by the exploding fighter. She watched the escape capsule tumble off into the darkness and shook her head at it. "Find yourself a quiet hole to hide in. If you're lucky." She pushed the throttle forward, driving the Blaze back toward the now coupled Glory and firefly. Tapping the gun's buttons, she riddled the ass end of the firefly with hot lead, tearing great holes in the aft engineering hard burn drive. Spinning past, she flipped the shuttle over on its back again, and painted the bridge with a new row of bullet holes. "Whoever you are, you ain't gettin' away in this bucket o' bolts. "

Ian had just made it to the bridge and was checking over the weapons grid. Abe is prolly mad at me for not letting her do her job. Just never had a bodyguard is all. Have a ship ... which Reese has all but destroyed. I'll make it up to Abe as soon as this is over. We'll have a proper talk...., he thought just as he saw the explosion and the shuttle morph into the firefly. He thumbed the All Ship's comm, knowing that the Blaze was too far away to prevent the Firefly from making contact.
The thuds came of the grapples attaching to the Glory. Ian was going to manually lockdown the bridge but since the ship was like it was he left it. He saw the Blaze come back and shoot up the engine room of the other ship and was going to warn Syl not to shoot the bridge as it would make the Firefly crew more desperate to take the Glory as they would not have a ship to go back too. He caught the flash of light and a shutter both as the other crew gained access to the Glory and what he suspected was the other ships bridge blew. The All Comm was still on so he spoke one final time.
He spoke in a nice and chipper voice that turned icy at the end. Ghost and Ryder were out and Death danced before him as he left the bridge on his way to the Cargo bay. |
