Biff approached slowly and it broke his heart to see the moment of joy fade so quickly from Sachas eyes. They were heavy with sorrow. Biff looked towards the still body.
Sacha

"Thank you both for what you've done tonight. You saved us both, my brother and me, and helped fight for the legacy of our family when you oughta not have cared... Law man's on his way now.... finally. Wasn't our call, but a report of gunfightin' in the valleys. I don't know how we can repay you, save for what little money we have."
Biff nodded as her brother ran off."Excuse me for a minute."Biff gestured to Kenji and Zeke to walk with him a ways. When he was sure out of earshot he spoke quietly. "Zeke I know you don't have much of a say in this matter since you weren't hired on by Sacha, but we are crew now so you should be involved." Biff turned to Kenji. "Look I don't normally do pro bono work but we have the ship. That's more reward than we had expected in the first place. Not to mention the armory that's aboard. Just a thought but I think we shouldn't take their money." Biff hoped that Kenji would agree.

Out in the cold night air, Kenji stepped aside with Biff and their new partner. He considered the older man's words and nodded several times, finally catching Biff's eyes with a serious tone in his voice.

"Of course. I'm on board with that. If nothin' more, that ship there will let us drop off the bounty I have waiting in town - it more than pays for itself." He nods somberly to where Sacha stood, gesturing for Biff to be their voice.

Zeke nodded along with what both Biff and Kenji were saying, smiling towards Biff; who was obviously troubled deeply by something. Zeke craned his neck to see past him over towards the two people standing beside the small farmhouse. When he saw the blood-stained blankets in a crumpled pile, he realised something bad had happened, and his smile quickly faded. He turned back to Biff, his expression suddenly serious.

"Biff, and you too Kenji have both saved me from a life of captivity. You haff both gained a loyal friend in me, and can be rest assured I vill stand behind any decision either of you make. I have no knowledge of what happened here, but it is obvious zat a sing of great sadness has occurred. I am owed nothing, and expect nothing from zese people who I have never met, and only hope zat I can help the two of you to the best off my ability, to properly sank you for your kindness."

He smiled once more at Biff, a genuine look of reassurance and friendliness. Zeke liked Biff; he was a thoughtful, quiet sort of person that never did anything he hadn't properly considered first, and Zeke respected that. Kenji was still somewhat of a mystery, as Zeke had had little time to converse with the man, but Zeke was sure he was a good man also if he was around Biff.

Zeke once again pulled his cap off and scratched at the back of his head; unsure what to do in the situation. Deciding, he moved back towards the ship, intending to go back to the cockpit and run a few rudimentary system checks. Zeke had only heard distant gunfire during the battle for the ranch, and wanted to make sure the ship hadn't been damaged at any point.

Biff walked back to Sacha and held a steady hand out to her. "Sacha we're all in agreement, you keep your money. You have lost enough today. If you need help with the burial we are here. If not than we will say our farewells." He waited for her answer.

He held her hand a moment longer and then released it. Biff turned to Zeke and in a lower voice asked, "How long will it take to prep the ship? Kenji has a bounty to claim and he's been tied up alone for too long as it is."

"Speaking of which.." Kenji had turned, not toward the ship but toward the ridge line the trio had rode in over earlier that night. The sound of sirens and engines sounded from that direction, coming from town.

"I best get back to my room and check out our friend. What say you two get the ship off the ground and pick me up at the airfield? Best not have an old Alliance decom sitting on this here farm when law man arrives." He nodded to the vessel, then again more solemnly to Sacha and her brother, before making off into the dark.

Kenji was right. Whether the vessel had been rightfully owned by the crooks or not, it was now stolen property - that is, until its liberators had a chance to register it officially. Taking the vessel, which was more than ready to take flight within a few minutes, was technically a crime - that being said, the convenience was right there in front of Biff and Zeeke, and for all they'd been through, breaking one or two technicalities didn't seem so bad.

"Please... thank you. Go. He's right, you should make off before they show up. I imagine there's going to be a lot of questions and a lot of..." Sacha faltered, voice catching in her throat, and she substituted the goodbye with a sudden embrace of Biff.

"Please, go. Thank you for all you've done. You won't go unmissed here."

Zeke waved a hand dismissively at Biff's question. "Only a few moments. If she's in the same condition as ven I landed her, then we'll be out of here before you can say 'freundschaftsbezeigungen'." Zeke laughed at the other man's bafflement at the last word, and continued over to the ship.

He waved farewell to Kenji as he walked off, and bowed respectfully to the girl he had never formally met. He then hurried into the ship and scampered up the ladder to the cockpit. Zeke was hardly a grizzled criminal, but he'd been on the wrong side of the law enough to agree full heartedly with the idea of leaving. He waited a few moments to give Biff time to enter the ship, and as he heard the hydraulics for the cargo bay start up, he activated the engines and began lifting them slowly off of the ground.

The pilot couldn't help but beam wildly. After all this time, all this time of being locked away, forced to fly for only a few minutes at a time at controlled speeds, he was finally free. And that meant time to have a little fun. Zeke had never had a chance to see what the alliance ship was really capable of, and he was excited to find out. Powering the engines up to full, he let the thrusters flare dramatically before rocketing away from the farmhouse, letting out a wild whoop as he did so.

It took him a few moments to notice the loud cursing from down below, and lessened the speed sheepishly; his excitement at being able to fly again his own way had pushed Biff completely from his mind. The sudden burst of acceleration must have knocked him clean off of his feet. After a while he heard the clanging of someone climbing the ladder, and risked a glance over his shoulder to see Biff pull himself into the cockpit.

He smiled apologetically when Biff gave him the stink-eye, then turned back to focus on flying. He called back over his shoulder as he flew. "Sorry about zat Biff, got a little excited. You're going to haff to help me find zis airfield, I don't think I've ever been there."

The hulking vessel made it airborne well before the authorities arrived, the shootout only making local headlines for the next week or so before it dropped off the radar entirely.

Zeke and Biff didn't waste time finding the small township and landing for a total of 3 minutes - Kenji was already standing by, the unconscious figure of Ferris Hallagan. The man was battered and bruised, dirty and drooling, and as Kenji pulled him on board and the trio settled down in their new home, none of them suspected just how much of a difficult pay cheque the bandit was going to be to cash.
