Biff quietly and quickly crossed the cargo bay careful to not expose himself to the fatal funnel that is the hallway. At the door he looked once more to check his numbers. This was going to be tricky. As quietly as he could he wedged his staff into the door to the hallway about ankle high. Aiming the shotgun he knew that he would be night blinded by the muzzle flash. He pulled the trigger. CLICK! In the near silence and pitch black of the ship that click sounded like a freight train whistle. He pumped the shotgun, closed his eyes, and pulled the trigger, BAMM. At the recoil he threw the gun off to his left and slide right hoping to throw his targets off. He huddled in the corner where he drew his weapon waiting for someone to break the hallway threshold. Closing his eyes hadn't stopped the night blindness but he was regaining his vision fast. |

"Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man, have a look in my eyes," Kenji didn't hesitate as he slipped around to the back of the entrance, as a head peered through looking towards the windscreen and the main consoles. Silently he crept through the shadows as his very life depended on it. The man's mind was racing, scenarios that may play out. He was low on ammo and that added to the seriousness of the situation. That's when his saving grace made itself know, in the form of a gunshot echoing through the corridor beneath him. Kenji had to move fast, before the man's eyes readjusted to the darkness. The mercenary's boot came out and up, attempting to kick the rifle from the bandit's grasp, Big Iron once again coming down to bear on him. Kenji squeezed the trigger and let loose a round into the stunned form. "Underneath my skin there is a violence, it's got a gun in it's hand" |

In quick succession chaos erupted throughout the ship. Upstairs the next man up the ladder was caught off guard as a loud gunshot and yelling from below was followed by a dull thud to the weapon in his hands, which went flying. Next minute, with a sickening blam, he met his maker. His rifle, set the full automatic and ready to be unleashed on the unsuspecting stowaway, now lay at Kenji's feet. Below a number of men were wounded, screaming in pain as they crumpled to the ground. In such confined quarters the dual shotgun blasts had made short work of the group mulling around the bottom of the ladder. Those who hadn't been wounded in the surprise attack made a dive for cover, two men ducking to the right and a third going to the left. A few stray shots pinged off the hull as they fired blindly into the bay where the mysterious shotgun shells had exploded from. Looking down from his vantage point above, the three surviving members of this crew were in clear sight of Kenji and Big Iron. |

Biff seeing the panicked shots crash into the far wall well away from where he was crept closer to the hallway door. Pieing the corner he popped off three blind rounds while moving to the other side of the bay trying to keep their heads down. With space so limited he was glad for the darkness. |

"Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man, have a look in my eyes," Kenji slowed his breath as he watched the situation beneath him devolve into a chaotic mass. Twin shadow's moved towards his left, whilst a third vanished to the right, muzzle flashes lit the narrow corridor below. He knew that Biff was no doubt giving them a run for their money. "Tch..." He sneered as he leveled Big Iron towards the huddled forms to his left. The trigger gave him little resistance as he pulled it back. A resounding Blaw Blaw Blaw filled the air as he sunk his remaining 3 rounds into the two huddled bandits. With a hollow sigh, the mercenary holstered his sidearm and slid down the ladder. A wet, sticky sounding pop emanated from a corpse underneath the man's boot. He felt his duster get hung up on the form hiding on his now left. Almost on instinct Kenji threw an elbow back towards the bandit, spinning on his heel, eventually grappling with his foe. "Biff check the ship" he heard himself call out. "Work on getting her running Kenji stood there in the throes of self preservation. His body was running on auto-pilot. Before he knew it his fist was smashing against the marauder's face. He took a step back as the form crumbled against the floor. These men had decided to attack an unarmed ranch in the mindset to take the cattle. Little did they realise that they bit off more than they could chew. Kenji bore down on his opponent, blow for blow he repeatedly drove his fist into the man's face, that is until he heard a sickening crack from his hand. A jolt of pain shot up his arm emanating from his fist. The blood spattering the corridor wall. He had torn the flesh of his knuckles to the point that you would see the tendon and sinew beneath. Yet he continued to pummel the man into unconsciousness. Kenji didn't care, for all he was concerned these men had overstepped their rights. when he rendered his entire hand useless he proceeded to use his elbow. He wanted to drill the fact home that this man had made the wrong decision this day. The gunfire echoed throughout the vessel before it fell into silence. The men who had called this place home were now dead or unconscious. And eerie, funereal blanket of cold slowly fell over the darkened vessel as Kenji set the bloodied man aside, panting heavily. From one of the engine bays* came the clattering of metal on metal as tools fell from a carefully balance toolbox, knocked down as someone moved about in the darkness. * Will annotate the deckplans asap, but the two rear rooms on the left and right of the lower deck are the engine bays |

“Scheiße!” Zeke kicked the toolbox off of his foot, and sat up, rubbing his shoulder. Weeks of slowly but surely easing and twisting the bar he had been handcuffed to away from the wall, and it suddenly springs off; launching him off the small cot and against the shelving opposite shoulder first, knocking loose a toolbox on the very top and showering him in tools. He stood up slowly, stretching out his limbs. All in all, the last three weeks hadn’t been so bad, all things considering. These…Zeke wasn’t actually sure what these guys did, but he did know that they had nabbed him as he left a bar no some backwater planet, bundling him into their ship and forcing him to pilot for them at gunpoint as they hopped from small town to small town, conducting their nefarious business. Zeke spent his time either at the wheel, flying at gunpoint which was never relaxing, or sitting on the tiny bunk in the engine room handcuffed to the small iron bar one of the crew had crudely welded to the wall. “At least I’m still flying” he had been saying to himself, in an attempt to keep himself well humoured. He had been continuing his escape attempt with the bar, when the ship was suddenly filled with the sounds of gunfire and shouting. Zeke saw this as a good reason to work even harder to get free, and in his exertion to pull free, had ripped the crude restraint from the wall, and here he was. Zeke idly pushed his foot through the pile of tools at his feet till he noticed a hefty-looking wrench. He picked it up and tested its weight, feeling better now that he had a weapon. The gunfire had stopped, and despite straining his ears, Zeke couldn't hear anything immediately outside of the room. He opened the door slowly, his eyes darting to every nook and cranny someone could be lurking in. With at least the immediate area safe, Zeke slipped out of the engine room, and began making his way along the corridor as quietly as he could, unsure as to what he will find, and cautious because of it. |

"On it." Biff called up to Kenji when the combat quieted to a stillness. He began by dislogding the the staff from the hallway door lest he or Kenji trip on it in the darkness. The few crates seem bare of anything useful that could help light his way. His sidearm at the ready he began to follow the outside wall trying to find anything that looked like it would turn the lights back on. Slowly and with much care he crept up along the wall. Stepping over the carnage that was once low life scum he grabbed the ladder. Carefully he climbed his way down feeling the air around him. Tense, when all should tranquil. Stepping foot off the ladder he almost fell having stepped on a severed appendage of a former foe. He walked towards the closest doorway to the ladder when a crash echoed from the opposite door. Biff ducked into the room he was at and peered from cover into the black. He could hear someone moving about the far room. Coming closer. That's when the door opened. "Alright now come on out whoever you are. Your pals are dead and unless you hope to fare any better you won't try anything stupid." |

Zeke froze involuntarily when he heard the voice, calm but commanding, and joined by the audible click of a readied firearm. Zeke put his hands in the air, his eyes darting around the gloomy corridor, trying to see whoever it was that had threatened him, though all he could see was a shadow slightly darker than the rest in the doorway of the other engine room. "Alright man, alright. I don't mean no harm, ok? Ve're all ku here, y'know? I don't want to g’en ho tze bi dio se. I'm gonna drop my weapon, ja?" Zeke let the wrench go, where it landed on the floor with a loud clank, breaking the tense silence. The pilot pulled the old leather flight cap off of his head, and wrung it between his hands; an old habit of his when he was nervous. "I promise you too, stranger; zose men out there are not my freunde. I haff been a captive to zese assholes for weeks." Edited by Unit894, Jun 11 2015, 12:49 AM.

"Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man, have a look in my eyes,"
Kenji let out a heavy sigh, glancing at the lifeless forms around him. The deck plating was sticky with blood. Immediately he went to work securing his prisoner with belts and bits of cloth found on the numerous corpses. He would have words with this man as soon as he came to. Finishing his task, the mercenary began rummaging through the bodies for anything valuable; Guns, ammunition, credits, or anything that might have told him what the bandits were doing attacking this ranch. Thump, thump, thump. Kenji began piling the bodies to one side of the corridor, while moving the recently procured weapons to the other end. Once he deemed the job was done, with nothing else to accomplish the man began to clamber up the steps, his hand on fire, due to the split on his knuckles. "I'mma need a weave on this when I get out of here When he reached the top of the ladder he gave his eyes the chance to adjust to the dark night sky on the other end of the windscreen. The bridge reflected in a yellowish light as Haven continued hanging in the air. The freelancer lifted the rifle off of the ground near the entrance to the bridge, before moving over to one of the consoles hoping to bring one to life. "Underneath my skin there is a violence, it's got a gun in it's hand" |

It took a short time for Kenji to get back into the right frame of mind, but soon enough even his bare knowledge of this old military vessel was enough to break down some digital walls. In a minute or two, the lights snapped back on, flooding the ship with white, blinding light. |

The lights came on and Biff saw the man clearly for the first time. He could see the indentations on one of the wrists just under the hat he held. The same mark of handcuffs that men he brought into custody had so many years ago as a lawman. All handcuffs make the same marks. He slowly lowered his firearm and stepped full out into the room. "Well then we are glad to have been of service. Why were they holding you captive.?" Biff peared quickly into the other rooms then holstered his weapon. "My names Biff by the way." |

Zeke smiled gratefully once the stranger put his gun away, and slipped his hat back onto his head. The man had been looking at the marks on his wrists, and Zeke rubbed them; the adrenaline of his escape was starting to run out, and the marks were starting to hurt. "Ja, yes I mean. Zose guys grabbed me a few weeks ago, made me pilot for them. I ain't seen ze outside of zis ship for...I don't know how long. I just want to sank you again for saving me." He stepped forwards and grabbed the stranger's hand, shaking it warmly and patting him on the shoulder. He walked past, and looked around at the carnage, whistling in surprise. "Wow! You did all this? A real cowboy ja? Haha!" Zeke felt a lot better knowing he was finally free, and his natural energy was coming back to him. He span around to look back at his savoir. "I tell you vot friend, you help me dump zese bodies, and I'll fly you wherever you want to go, and I'll do it faster than you've ever traveled! How?" |

Biff took the mans hand and shook it. The gratitude certainly seemed sincere. "Well we were brought in to help the farm your captors were raiding. Lets head upstairs so you can meet Kenji." Biff looked up the latter and yelled up. "Kenji we're coming up! We rescued a captive pilot. " Still looking his new acquaintance over. "Are you hurt bad? When why find some medical supplies here I can dress you if you need it. " |

"Come touch me like I'm an ordinary man, have a look in my eyes," Kenji's hands danced along the keypad, fumbling around with the tech in front of the man. Computer's weren't his strong suit but he continued to punch in commands hoping they would take. The console lit up along with the room startling the wayward wanderer. "Da Bien!" he interjected jumping half out of his skin at the sudden lightening of the room. "At least we have lights..." He mused quite somberly as he took a better look at the bridge. It was quite a bit more spacious than he had imagined, seeing as the only bridge he'd seen was a cruiser he'd done a job on. Everything had seemed to glow with it's own life. The lights on the controls made the stars seem dull in comparison. He began taking deep breaths, attempting to slow his heart-rate. "Alright now it's too quiet in here... I hope Biff didn't run into any trouble. "
"Gao shenme gui, I send him to get the engine ready and he brings a tag along" It seemed to Kenji like the group had just gotten a little bigger. He let out a sigh and shook away the displeasure. "No need, I'm coming down..., Can't get her started from up here. Kenji proceeded to the manhole and began to descend the ladder. Twelve steps felt like forever with his knuckles burning every time he hung from a rung.
" It's plenty fine, no need to... Kenji's foot touched metal with a clank. With a firm footing he spun on his heel almost bowling over Biff and Zeke. Before he could finish his sentence he realised that his companion was talking to another man. "Oh.. Sheepishly he looked past the two, to glance over at his captive. His verdant gaze shot back to the pilot and gave him a once over. After deciding the man wasn't a threat his demeanor softened enough to feign cheer. "Well hey I'm Kenji, Seems you've already met Biff, well with the standing here talking and all. You are....?" "Underneath my skin there is a violence, it's got a gun in it's hand" *shit Edited by Ahroro_Deltori, Jun 13 2015, 05:21 PM.

Zeke smiled again, putting his hands up. "No, no. Thank you but I am fine, just a little stiff!" He looked up and watched as the man named Kenji laboriously climbed down the ladder. Kenji gave Zeke a once over, and seemingly decided to be friendly. "Well hey I'm Kenji, Seems you've already met Biff, well with the standing here talking and all. You are....?" Zeke gripped his hand and shook it with the same enthusiasm he had when he had shook Biff's hand. "Ezekiel Brandt at your service my friend, to both of you! I prefer Zeke zo, it was vot my father always called me." Zeke took a step back and looked around the hanger again, taking in the boxes and the bodies. "So is zere anywhere I can take you guys? Considering the previous owners of zis ship aren't really in a position to argue, I'm figuring it belongs to you guys, if you don't mind having an illegal ship zat is!" Zeke suddenly began scampering around, searching through the piles of crates, before he came out with a ragged and battered duffle bag, which he shook triumphantly. "Aha! I vas worried zat they had sold my stuff! Whith zis I can get this ship back in the air, and zen, I take you boys anywhere you wanna go. Sound good?" |

Kenji took the greeting in stride, friendly but preoccupied, and waved away the newcomers questions as he busied himself searching for an easily accessible console that wasn't barred. He wandered the lower deck quiet, listening in to the conversation that followed him, until he found a small screen that hadn't, for whatever reason, been switched off in the shutdown. Moments later, after a few keys were hit, the vessel gave a healthy shudder and a mechanical groaning sound and the self imposed land lock was gone. The young gunslinger gave the thumbs up to his two friends, wiping down the front of his shirt like he'd been laboring away. "Well, she's actually in good shape and ready to fly. I thought the countermeasures would've been better, but..." A small shrug. "As far as where... well, I suppose we've got a bit of business to tie up here before we take to the skies." He gave Biff a knowing look, a reminder of just where they were and what price had been paid for the vessel now in their possession. |

With the lights on and the ship returning to life Biff was on the same page as Kenji. Sacha's family had paid a heavy price this night. "Zeke, we can worry about the where later. A high butchers bill was paid tonight by a family of ranchers. Hurt that we failed to stop." Biff gave Kenji a sad nod and walked back up to the open cargo bay and began to descend. He approached the ranch house across the field now lit up dimly from the lights of the ship once again. He held his hands up somberly greeting the huddled family. |

Zeke's smile faltered a little as he sees the sadness in Biff's eyes. He looked over at Kenji with an inquisitively raised eyebrow, but when the man turned away Zeke shrugged minutely, and busied himself with making sure all of his things were still in his bag. When he stood back up, returning his small revolver to his holster; the weight reassuring after so long, despite Zeke's inability with the weapon, he saw Biff walking down the ramp back towards wherever they were; Zeke had only seen a glimpse of a small house when he landed after once again being hustled off to his improvised cell. He followed his new friends till the end of the ramp, and closed his eyes, enjoying the feel of the wind and the fresh air for the first time in weeks. After enjoying the air for a few seconds and observing the carnage around the farmhouse, Zeke returned to the cargo bay. Zeke was extremely eager to move on as soon as possible, to get back to the life of high-paced adventure he was used to, but he respected his rescuers enough to wait until they were ready to leave. To keep himself busy, Zeke began patting down the bodies for weapons, ammunition and valuables, and then beginning to drag them out of the ship. |

Kenji watched over Zeeke for a few moments, as if ensuring he was understanding of their departure, the gave a small nod and ghosted along behind Biff, out into the cool evening air. It was hard for him to imagine what this pilot had been through - he'd been on plenty of ships, but never as a captive. Hell, the poor guy probably didn't even know what rock they were on. As the pair approached the farmhouse, Sacha and her younger brother were startled for a moment until they recognised the figures. The fighting on board the vessel had been quick, but it had been deadly and noisy. No doubt they'd been unsure of just who would be coming back from it. There was relief in the young woman's eyes. "Thank you both for what you've done tonight. You saved us both, my brother and me, and helped fight for the legacy of our family when you oughta not have cared..." her eyes carefully darted to the limp bundle of blankets where the old man had taken his dying breath. "Law man's on his way now.... finally. Wasn't our call, but a report of gunfightin' in the valleys." She looks at her feet to hide the anger, her brother silent the whole time. "I don't know how we can repay you, save for what little money we have." As if he missed his cue, Sacha prods at her brother and he runs off into the small farmhouse to collect their prize. |
