Crew members of Glory are enroute to Bellerphon. Target, a large warehouse and factory out in the desert. It has a low profile. Instead of refining local minerals it is actually the source of new satallites for a new version of CORTEX. The Alliance plan to shut down the old and make a new more 'manageable' CORTEX 2.0 is ready for implementation. Glory's mission: Land. {clearances have been forged} Enter. getting in the front door is easy enough, but after that. Mayhem and destruction. {Fight through the factory and warehouse, leave explosives, get out.} BOOM |

Glory Sylandra landed the Glory at the fueling station and set up the locks, ensuring that the bridge controls could only be engaged by either her or Ian. She scheduled fueling by the station personnel, and toggled off the comm. Gathering her bag, jacket and trusty weapon, she left the bridge, secured the hatch, and stopped off at her berth to gather the rest of her gear. Then she headed to the Blaze, where the rest of the away team was gathering. Blaze Coming into atmosphere of Bellerphon, Blaze sliced through the dark cloud cover, arced over into a shallow dive, and nosed toward the desert location. They had clearances, and Sylandra brought up the landing grid on the forward screen, lining up the Blaze for a moderate landing glide. The time clicked by; minimal buffeting by the hard wind outside, but she kept the nose aligned with the grid leading down onto the flat land ahead of them. Ground which rose slowly but steadily up to greet them. A toggle brought on the grinding squeal of landing pads coming out of their housings and locking into position. A pull back on the yoke brought the thundering increase as the thrusters reversed and the shuttle thumped gently on the landing strip and vibrated to a stillness of successful landing. With gentle balancing of thrusters and brakes, along with a firm hand on the yoke, Syl steered the craft into a parking slot just a short distance from the warehouse building. The dying gasps of the engines cutting out, and she sat back, looking over at Ian in the co-pilot's seat. "Here we are, boss."

If there was one thing Beth was sure of was that Blaze was not the right place for her to be. Not because of concerns for her own safety or survival, it was pain she had problems with, not dying. Not because she didn't think that she would be able to deal with the injuries that the others might receive; sure there was the likelihood of putting her potential phobia to the test but she had the knowledge and the skills. It was the fear that she would get in the way, get herself captured and held hostage forcing the crew to focus on her rather than the mission, slow them down or worse yet, alert the opposition to their presence and put them in real danger. All she could do was hope that she had packed everything she might reasonably need in her medical bag, hope that no one would be silly enough to give her a gun and cling desperately to the hope that they would want her to stay on Blaze and be ready to treat any injuries that might occur. She wasn't optimistic on any of those counts and she had no hope at all that Sylandra would be staying on the shuttle and that they would thus have the chance to continue their interrupted talk. Beth couldn't even gather together enough courage to ask what was expected of her, instead sitting quietly with her trademark frown deeply etched on her forehead and regularly checking that her seatbelt was properly fastened and tight enough.

With Glory locked up safe and sound, Abe followed the others to Blaze, al the while taking a good look at the people on the crew. Damn her suspicious nature! She didn't like being that way, but she couldn't shake the feeling that someone just might be coming at Ian because of his position in the resistance. Folks like that didn't usually come at you from the front where you could see them, they came at you from your blind spots. Though she found herself smiling a little when they got to Blaze. Her and Ian had spent fond times together here. Passionate times. Unforgettable times. But now was not really the time to be reminiscing. They left quickly and soon enough it was going to be time to land. Abe had a million things running through her head and she chose to stay standing to the left beside Ian while he was at the co-pilot's seat. She didn't even realize that her right hand had been playing with the strands of his hair at the back of his neck. It was a gentle caress, so he must not have been bothered by it since he didn't say anything. When she did notice, her hand faltered a little, but she couldn't find a reason why she should feel the need to stop. So she resumed while a devious smile crossed her lips. Sylandra landed Blaze with skill, Abe barely having to adjust her stance to keep balanced. Luckily with the clearances that had constructed, she was able to land pretty close to the warehouse. Syl steered the craft into a parking slot just a short distance from the warehouse building. This could be good for a quick getaway. "Here we are, boss." Yes... Here they were indeed. Abe was glad that she was armed to the teeth. She was not going to let this gig go sideways. More than that, she wasn't going to let anything get at them from an unforeseen way either. Or at least that was the plan. |

at the landing pad a sharp dressed member of the Alliance Civilian Services approached with a state of the art PDA 'clipboard'. He waited outside, looking alert, ready to check orders, IDs and data checks. He was expecting several technical experts to run some routine checks and balances. There was no sign of any military, though if one looked, many of the civilian had bulges for hidden weapons, or cases or crates or some place nearby. Getting out once the action started inside would be difficult. BlaZe would have to hold her own. The Sharp Dressed Bureaucrat waited. |

Ian had dressed special for this mission. He wore his dress Uniform, complete with his gold buttons to signify his rank as Lt.Commander. He did wear his Black duster and only one pistol. The rest of his clothing and weapons were in a satchel he wore. The "papers" may have been forged, but he wasn't. His orders let him go anywhere he felt he needed in order to stop the infernal smuggler trade Even here. Even now. At least that is how he was going to present himself. He looked at his crew and stretched at his collar. It was too binding. He hated it. Then he pressed the hatch control and the door opened. He walked down the ramp and and gave the well dressed man his IDent card. He was who he said he was. Let's see them make something of that. |

The Sharped Dressed Bureaucrat seemed unimpressed with the uniform, but after running his IDent Card he could not suppress his surprise, nor a bit of nervousness. "Weclome sir, I was not expecting you." clearly. "So if this is an inspection or ... investigation, we are quite prepared. What can I show you first?" His papers and datapad seemed unimportant now. ..... Just inside the door was a Spartan entry way, a floorplan of the factory, filling in a few blank spots from Glory's available intell. The target was in the center of the large one floor building. The newly assembled CORTEX 2.0 satallites, right next to the computer to control them. |

Sylandra moved to the map and studied it, memorizing the location of the target, paths leading to and from, in case of needing a get away, potential choke points and defensive walls and doorways. We'll most likely need to escape out the back, as response teams come in the front. A trap here, and here, to block their avenue in... a block of C4 to blow this wall gives us a way out...

With nothing else to occupy her, Beth moved up beside Sylandra and studied the map too, not aware of the direction of Sylandra's thoughts or the nature of her purpose in understanding it. Her own was to try to be able to get back to the ship if she was separated from whoever she was with and to gain an understanding of the layout so that if she was needed somewhere to attend to an injury there was some hope of finding it. Not that she knew whether she would be going with them or would, again, find herself waiting alone for events to happen around her. Of course her real reason was a little more personal. Despite the interruption to their private discussion before it had had a chance to get properly started and the fact that they had not had a chance to resume it or even spend any quality time alone together, Beth's feelings had not abated. She was standing closer to Sylandra than propriety would suggest was appropriate, her shoulder brushing gently against Sylandra's arm. "Not an insubstantial place, " Beth commented, mostly because she wanted to ensure that Sylandra was aware of her presence.

Mike was mainly trying not to fidget. In the aim of keeping up appearances, Becker had strayed from his usual attire and chosen something that fitted with whatever Ian was donning and whatever people accompanying him should look like. He didn't know much about the uniforms or the ranks, but simple clothing with dark colours didn't draw as much attention as his hat and coat would. But he did miss his hat and coat. Still he felt a little special ops when ever he caught himself in the mirror, and often felt the urge to stand to attention just for effect. Most importantly, a pair of guns were holstered beneath beneath his coat. He wanted every bullet he could get away with. Mike held behind Dugan and followed lead. He glanced at possible resistance and tried to recall paths for later. Fir the most part though, he actual found interest in looking around the structure. |

To the man who had met them Ian spoke My team will disburse and begin their inspection. Show me the Control Center. It was not a request. If all went well the explosions would happen when they were all back together and and moving toward the exits and freedom. Otherwise, Death would precede them out of the building. No one who knew them would be allowed to live. They were the enemy. |

Abe stepped off the ship a couple of steps behind Ian, looking the part of his official envoy. Dressed all in black clothes that could be viewed as an unmarked uniform she took stock of the area around her. She looked high and she looked low while keeping an eye on Ian and Mike as well. Ian spoke to the man who met them. My team will disburse and begin their inspection. Show me the Control Center. The authority in Ian's voice? He was a natural. And it was kinda hot. Abe hoped everything went to plan. It would be a nice feather in their cap to put a stop to this whole Cortex II thing, plus the fact that a win for their side from the beginning would be most favorable as well. So she said a silent prayer and set out to follow Ian wherever he would go. |

Sylandra smiled at Beth's comment, paying attention to Ian dealing with the welcoming committee. She stepped in line as they proceeded. She let her free hand brush against Beths as they walked.

"Of course sir." he handed out badges to The Glory Gang that would allow them passage to all parts of the building. Then turning back to Ian, "This way sir." It was all going smooth as grease through a goose. |

The brush of Sylandra's hand was unexpected but Beth reacted quickly, perhaps because she was desperate for some renewed sign of Sylandra's interest. Beth interpreted it as an invitation and curled her fingers gently around Sylandra's hand, enough to let know Sylandra that she was open to holding hands but loosely enough so that Sylandra could free herself quickly and without effort if she needed the freedom to operate or felt that such public displays were inappropriate. Beth was expecting the latter, being reasonably sure that it wouldn't help Ian for others to see two of his team holding hands. For a beat Beth retained the contact but then common sense and cowardice got the better of her and she opened her fingers but left it for Sylandra to move her hand away from Beth's. She used her other hand to take the badge that the official handed her.

Ian knew that this would the best time and way to plant explosives and get the actual lay of the land. The badges gave them access, his uniform gave them the excuse. It was now or never He had two explosives to plant and data to extract so if the Alliance and Blue Sun came up with another ploy, he and his would have the key to keep it all free That was the plan, anyway. He looked for Murphy but only saw Death as she followed. |

Sylandra let Beth's hand slip away as they both accepted the badges from Ian. She followed Ian towards their goal, and touched his shoulder briefly, nodding to the shoulder bag on her left. Through the barely open flap, he could see her assortment of timers, det-cord, and C4 packs. "Just let me know where you want these," she whispered.

"Wait 'til we get back to the ship," Beth thought, not sure if she was telling herself to behave or whether she was plotting to do something a little more overt to let Sylandra know how she felt. She liked to think the latter but she knew herself and knew that there was every chance she would talk herself out of it. She sighed very softly, still wondering what her role was supposed to be, particularly as she had had to be selective in what she could bring with her, her normal medical bag being too big and unsubtle. The only thing she could think of, in the way of being of assistance was keeping watch while Sylandra planted her explosives and even then she would only be able to let Sylandra know; she didn't carry a weapon or know how to use one and the small bag she was carrying with her medical supplies could hardly be considered an offensive weapon. "That might be a good excuse to spend more time with her," she thought, "asking her to teach me how to use a pistol; assuming I can get over the whole flinching at loud noises thing."

On his way to Central Control Ian stopped at the map and began pointing out places that he wanted Syl to inspect. These, of course were the spots he wanted the explosives set. "Once you complete this portion of the inspection, fall back to the shuttle. We should be ready to depart in three quarters of an hour." The translation was ... Bomb these areas and set the times for forty-five minutes He left the map and followed the sharp dressed lacky to the Control center. |

Beth watched as Ian pointed out the places on the map, taking careful note so that there would be two of them to remember where Ian wanted the surprises positioned. She stood very close to Sylandra, her shoulder just brushing Sylandra's arm and her fingers coming into gentle contact with Sylandra's hand though she made no attempt to hold it. It was taking more of an effort of will to focus on the map that she expected and she found herself wishing the operation was over so that she could spend some undistracted time with Sylandra. "She really has gotten under your skin, Bethany," she thought and though the memory was painful, she couldn't help but compare it with her feelings for Alice. Some elements were the same but there was definitely a greater strength to the feeling in Sylandra's case. "Are you prepared to admit it yet?' she asked herself but despite the intensity of her feelings she couldn't quite yet take that step. Again she forced her attention back to the map and tried to work out reference points that would help her identify the locations; finding her way around using a map wasn't high on her list of skills and she knew she would need to remember something distinctive about each location to make sure that she could recognise they were in the right spot even if she couldn't navigate her way there.
