Lupin had made it to the ship, and the others had reached the spot where the conduit lead to the ship's berth met the main corridor/concourse. Rex took up position at the corner, watching further down the corridor while Siobhán took a kneeling position on the opposite wall.

Skarlet, William and Ayden slid past and rounded the corner, just as two more armored figures, followed by a well dressed officious looking gentleman appeared at the far end of the concourse. The guards raised their weapons and sent short bursts down toward the group, as the older man ducked behind one of them. He could be heard to curse and scream orders at them.

REX YANGTREE

Yangtree looked at the angles, the positions; without thinking he assessed the combat situation and called out to Brannigan. "Eleven o'clock, thirty meters, someone calling orders. I got the others."

Yangtree went to a knee, the angle for whoever was calling out orders was bad for him. Siobhan might just have a shot if this 'commander/official' dared sneak a peak.

Opening with his own careful short bursts on automatic fire the focused on the weak points in most armor. The neck, shoulders, groin. Once he finished a couple of short bursts, he went full automatic, spraying them without mercy.

Siobhán ducked back around the corner when she saw the guards, just in time to avoid the burst of fire though late enough to see the older man ducking behind one of the guards.

"Roger," Siobhán acknowledged and knelt down, making best of the cover afforded by the angle of the walls and sighted on the guard behind whom the older man had attempted to hide. His body might have been concealed but it was harder for him to conceal his legs and it was at the largest exposed part of his leg she aimed and shot at. As it happened, it was between the legs of the guard that he was sheltering behind.

Siobhán waited for him to fall into view, keeping a watch on the two guards in case they started to aim in her direction, her intent in that eventuality to take a snap shot and duck for cover. If the man fell first her intention was to shoot at the largest exposed portion of him.

She liked to keep her options open and her pretty head intact, not necessarily in that order.

Rex's rounds pounded into both guards, and the one keeled back, dropping his weapon and falling to his knees just as Siobhán's round passed under him, seeking the unprotected man behind. The other guard, spun half around by his own damage, slid half way down the way, but kept his weapons pointed in their general directions and held the trigger tight. Hot, large caliber rounds cascaded down the corridor, some ricocheting off the wall or other obstacles to rebound in different trajectories. None found their marks, but one spanged into the wall edge bare inches from Siobhán's head. Another caught Rex's shoulder pad and tore a crease in it.

The man giving orders fell behind the armored guard, his condition uncertain.

Alarms consisting of lights and klaxons continue to scream out in frustration as more gunfire continues further down the concourse.

Scarlet, Ayden and William duck through the airlock into the ship.

Siobhán saw enough to give her hope that she had been at least partially successful but she found herself having to duck behind the shelter of the intersection to avoid the hail of heavy bullets that came down the corridor. One ricocheted off the wall only inches away and she was very glad she had taken the safer course.

Now all she could do was wait until the guard ran out of ammunition and hope that no one else came up to assist. She glanced back down the corridor behind her to make sure that no one was planning to surprise them from the rear and then risked a quick glance around the corner to see if the guard was still more-or-less alone.

REX YANGTREE

Time was working against them. Only Rex and Siobhan were still outside the ship.

Bullets were fired at random. Waiting for that to change was not good in Yangtree's mind. Reinforcements would be coming, ships would be moving to block anyone from leaving. While the scattering of the autofired weapon was dangerous. Waiting would be bring more focus to those firing at them.

"Cover me." shouted Rex to Siobhan, then he raced to the airlock, stopped and turned to spray more fire at anyone shooting at him, Siobhan, their ship.

only one left.

"GO!" he shouted to the Pixie.

Ayden was drawn out into reality as she heard Rex's voice.

"Cover me."

She hadn't realized that everyone was not back on the ship. She picked herself up through the overwhelming grief and guilt that was weighting her down and stood tall, gun in hand.

Rex sprayed more bullets into the corridor.

"GO!"

She stepped halfway out of the entry to the cargo bay and raised her gun. Shooting around Rex and Pixie, she helped the shooting along. She had to get the father of her child inside to safety.

"Get in!" she yelled.

Siobhán nodded, although not really wanting to leave the combat, she followed Rex's orders and ducked back into the connecting tube leading to Galiano's airlock. Seeing Ayden giving cover fire, she ducked through and slid to a halt on the other side of the hatch. Rex barreled through the hatch moments after and Ayden hit the hatch controls, closing the hatchway.

The ship shuddered momentarily as the thrusters came to life, and Williams' voice came over the intercom. "We're out of here!"

The ship breaks contact with the station, and pull away, seeking the Black and as much distance as they can get.

REX YANGTREE

Rex gave a look around the crew gathered at the air lock. He gave a nod to Siobhan without changing expression, a simple appreciation for her skills and their teamwork. Nothing more needed between veterans in his mind.

Then he took three steps to Ayden, took her weapon and sat it aside; then wrapped his arms around her and kissed her. He held it (barring any resistance), long, slow and sloppy. After a minute he broke it, held her, took a long deep breath.

"I'm going to find out what's next." His hand gripped her bottom and pulled her close. "Don't shower, something about gun powder and sweat... " he smiled his teenager with a penis smile. Unless something took his attention, he headed to the bridge.

"That went well," Siobhán commented to no one in particular. With her ever-present smile it was impossible to tell whether she meant it or was being sarcastic but there was a sparkle in her eyes that suggested that she had been exhilarated rather than frightened by the experience.

In truth, she hadn't had so much fun since the end of the war and while it was unfortunate that an innocent bystander had been caught in the crossfire but it was not something she would lose any sleep over, particularly as she wasn't directly responsible.

She pulled the magazine and ejected the live round from the breech before looking more closely at the rifle she had confiscated from one of the guards. It seemed a reasonable weapon and while it wasn't a sniper rifle it would certainly do until she was able to pick up something more suitable.

Siobhán looked around. Rex and Ayden were somewhat distracted with each other and everyone else seemed busy so she moved closer to Skarlet, checking her over for signs of injury as she approached.

"You okay, Skarlet?" she asked, the tone in her voice suggesting that the question was based in genuine desire for Skarlet's wellbeing and not just a habitual greeting.

Ayden was still breathing hard after the hatch closed, her hand gripped tightly around the gun. The only person she saw was Rex. He was the object of her complete focus.

Her breath quickened as he strode efficiently up to her, took her weapon from her hands and kissed her quite soundly. She responded in kind, needing a connection and way to ground her from what she had seen during their mission.

She felt him draw in a deep breath after his lips left hers. This was the way she remembered him. He never did pull his punches when it came to how he felt. She felt his hands on her ass as he pulled her closer. A little gasp left her lips.

"I'm going to find out what's next."

She nodded ever so slightly. Then he gave her an order. Well not really an order, more like a heated suggestion.

"Don't shower, something about gun powder and sweat..."

His smile was also one she remembered from a less complicated time. One that didn't leave any confusion over what exactly he wanted. He seemed to want her.

"Don't keep me waiting," she said breathily and ever so softly in his ear. "I need you."

As he left for the bridge, she left for their room. She needed to talk to him about what had happened, but it would wait a little. For now, it was him that she craved.

Skarlet had slinked away, moment that it came to fleeing back to the ship she was well aware how useless she would be. The gunfire had cleared out most of the people in her way, meaning that she didn't encounter any resistance getting back to the ship. Better for Skarlet, her pistol was bolt action, and even Skarlet knew that she wasn't crazy enough to charge squads of fully armed men with a knife. She did her part, she played her role and William apparently didn't tell Skarlet the entire story. So her job was done, let them bleed for William's little lie. The tension was visibly running through her, she was definitely not happy even when the rest of the team got aboard the Galiano and the craft lifted off of the station.

"Oh what a lovely package. Oh! and the payment, Isaac would be proud, we can retire on this take." Skarlet just went to her quarters, taking off the jumpsuit as she moved. She guessed she should return it to whoever she stole it from, she was still unsure if she was going to clean the blood out of it. She rubbed the makeup on her cheek off on the sleeve, revealing her heart tattoo again. The voices continued to taunt her as she went to find William. When she found out where she was she stalked up behind him, wanting to make sure that he didn't have time to turn before she spoke.

"So, you want to explain what that was about? Because I know I seem like an upstanding citizen, but I'm a big girl. If you wanted a hit then you didn't need this cloak and dagger pick up a crate Ma fuhn,"

REX YANGTREE

Yangtree and followed William as well. He wanted to know just what had happened. All had gone to plan until there Captain had taken them all for a chaotic turn of events.

Before he could begin, Skarlet was moving up behind William. Yangtree gave no warning, though there was a thought that the woman might just gut the man.

Not that he cared too much at this point. Captain William had nearly got them killed. Still, he like to know why. Then maybe Rex might even suggest Skarlet gut him. A mutiny at this point was looking more like a survival necessity.

Williams and Sonya sat at the bridge as the Galiano pushed into deep space. Williams turned as Skarlet spoke up. "So, you want to explain what that was about? Because I know I seem like an upstanding citizen, but I'm a big girl. If you wanted a hit then you didn't need this cloak and dagger pick up a crate Ma fuhn?"

He glared back at her. "You do remember that when we rescued you, you had cost us half our bounty by your own bloody hand?"

William sat in the room with Skarlet, eyeing her suspiciously. "Just to let you know, your butchery cost us half the bounty. Count that as your share. Ty was quite disappointed in being short changed; you might keep your distance, once we decide you can have access to the rest of the ship. Obviously, your actions cast a shadow on any interaction with the rest of our group."

He continued, "That man is the one that shorted us on the rest of the bounty, and killed James in doing so. He owed us, BIG. I guess it was fortuitous that he was even on the station. Now we have nothing, but at least I have the satisfaction of his death. Thank you for your part in that. That cargo, which now needs transport to the underground, will repay what we have lost in legit cargo and bounty."

"You didn't have to act on it, Sir," Siobhán said to William, having made her way to the bridge and approached him. Her voice was quiet and its tone was calm and even, a signal to any that truly knew her that she was not pleased and when she was not pleased there was every chance that blood would flow in a very literal sense.

"Or you could have waited until the rest of us were clear. Your actions put us in danger and led to the death of an innocent bystander and now there is a little boy on that station who has lost his mother. As for Skarlet, I don't know what she might or might not have done in the past but I do know that she went to your aid when you needed it.

Her voice had quietened still more and her eyes, usually bright green and full of mischief had darkened. One hand was behind her back and contained her stiletto; the demon had awoken and would need strong persuasion to go back to sleep without blood being shed.

REX YANGTREE

Yangtree kept an eye on Captain William while the women took him to task. His explanation was one of an opportunity that he couldn't resist. It was not one he cared for since it had put them at risk, and given how everyone had come to his aid, and they way and what they spoke of; it was clear the crew of Galiano would have backed any play the Captain had proposed.

Loyalty. Yangtree liked that.
And a rough and tumble crew that wrote their own rules.
And could enforce them.
Yangtree really liked that.

But this needed to end.

"Well said I think." He looked to Skarlet and Siobhan, then back at the Captain.
"We're all with you William. We'd have been much better off it'd we'd taken him together, but I can how the fury in your heart would cause your reaction." Yangtree didn't really admire that sort of emotional response in a dangerous situation. Strategy and tactics should be tempered by the heart and intuition, yes; but not something that has to react to them.

He looked over at the pilot, who seemed to be disengaged.

======================================
SONYA GULLIVER

Sonya watched the screens as she took a couple zigs and zags, ensuring they were not being shadowed before turning them on the course the Captain had previously directed on completion of their mission.

Now she had the auto pilot on as the tempers seemed on the verge of getting out of control. "Hoo boy." she muttered quietly. Escaped a shootout only to be about to have one on the bridge.

Gulliver turned to look them in the face. The man who would be general Rex was looking at her, like she was supposed to have some input. Was he looking for backing? How should she play this?

down the middle seemed like the best option...

"Yeah, and it's like you always get to have the fun, shooting and gettin' shot at. Leaving me here all safe and sound." She smiled, she had no desire to be in harm's way, she wasn't afraid of it. Just made sense she had to be on the ship. "hmm." she laughed.
"I guess that works well for me."

"Let's eat."

Loyalty was not the word that Siobhán would have used. She had acted out of respect for the position the man held and because he had rescued Abe and herself, not because of any feeling of loyalty toward the man himself. He had had credit for both the position and the rescue but his actions had jeopardised both the mission and the lives of his crew and killed a bystander. His standing was at neutral and on a downward trajectory in her eyes and it would take something significant to reverse the trend.

Sonya said: "Let's eat,"

"I would like to hear what the Captain has to say for himself, first," Siobhán said in the same quiet, controlled tone. She moved a little toward Skarlet and and away from both Rex and the Captain so that she would have enough time to react if either of them made a move toward her. Her hand shifted its grip on the knife so that she was ready to use it if she felt it necessary.

William turned to face Siobhán directly. "I've said my peace. Not happy innocents got hurt. Not my plan at all. My fight was one on one, and it was the guards' escalation that caused bullets to fly. My action was at most, defensive. "

REX YANGTREE.

Yangtree noticed Siobhan move into a different position. Did she think things were going to go that way? Was she going to force things to go that way?

He made a slight nod before he shifted his gaze to the Captain as William spoke.

After a slight rolling of his eyes, "I hope you don't disapprove of my including that in our brief to whoever it is that we report to? But for now I agree, completing our mission without any more personal tangents would be the best course of action."

His eyes moved from Sonya, to Skarlet and finally Siobhan. Then he turned and left the bridge.

"I'll be in my bunk."

============
(OOC, barring any stopping of Rex that is.... and assuming Ayden is there willing and able)

Once he entered their quarters, Rex started undressing, hurriedly; tossing his clothing aside, setting weapons on their rack. He moved with only pants left and locked the door.

"I hope you're not too tired love." He smiled with intentions clear. "I've got a lot of post dramatic stress to release."

--------------------------------
SONYA GULLIVER

The pilot stood up warily. "So uh. Course all set in. Anyone want to give me the squiddly doo about what happened back there. Tales of daring due? Yeah? maybe while we eat.?"

He gun belt was held in her hand. Hardly easily accessible. If there was going to be trouble she wasn't sure just what she'd do, if anything.

Siobhán reviewed her memory of the situation and concluded that perhaps William hadn't had as much chance to avoid the confrontation as she had first thought. It was true that the other man had made the first attack. She slipped the knife up her sleeve so that it wouldn't cause embarrassment until she could get it back in to its sheath.

"My apologies, Captain. I spoke out of turn," she responded, her apology genuine and sounding so.

Turning her attention to Sonya she smiled warmly because Sonya seemed to invoke that reaction in her and because she wanted to ease the tension and said, "Yes, I am ready for food and I am sure I could provide a tale or too of daring-do to go along with." She turned away from William, keeping the arm with the knife up the sleeve out of his sight as she did so.

"You coming too Skarlet?" she asked as she headed for the galley.
