Ayden looked at Pixie and mouthed the word "Thanks."

Siobhán smiled back at Ayden and mouthed 'you're welcome', pleased and relieved that Abe wasn't annoyed at her for leaping into the fray without being invited.

Rex said: "Can we use comms? check out the systems."

"Probably not. We don't want them alerted if they happen to have a better intruder alarm mechanism than we have been led to believe and we don't have the months it would take to mount a proper attack that they wouldn't notice. Long and slow or hard and fast; anything in between just opens up a world of hurt," Siobhán replied.

She had been caught once, a very long time ago; she had thought she had broken through the defences into the main system but it had been a dummy, a ruse to catch people like her and it had worked. She was older and wiser now, had the experience of a long, bitter war and thus had a better idea of the complexities involved, particularly when there were lives on the line.

"I'm better at winging it in real time so that they don't have time to react, and the closer I am to the centre of the action the better," she added.

Then the matter of Skarlet's unusual fashion accessory came up. It had had Siobhán intrigued from when it had first been brought to her attention. She hadn't had a chance for a close look but she had been mulling over how it might work. It seemed unlikely that there was some link running through the chain; a minimum of two wires was required for reliable communications between two devices without a common ground and using a precisely calibrated reference voltage would be problematic over the variable resistance that the chain would have. An alternative was some sort of wireless link between the bracelet and the stock of the weapon. There were all sorts of issues there too, particularly with respect to how long the system would last and how it would respond to its power source being exhausted, especially if they were completely independent and the one in the stock went first.

"You might want to have me look at that at some point, Skarlet," Siobhán suggested. "I can't promise anything but I may be able to find a way to disarm it."

REX YANGTREE AND SONYA GULLIVER.

Rex looked at Lupin, then at the crazy girl. Yes, he'd decided she was plenty crazy. But still had that 'it' that meant grit.

"Maybe you're important enough to have a flunkie military escort, nothing flashy, just a grunt corporal." Rex smiled at the lithe little lunatic, "Mind dressing up as a purple belly infantry Skarlet, the color might not suit you, but I bet you'd find it fun."

'careful' Rex thought, don't be too obvious in manipulatively pressing her buttons. He didn't figure she'd know; but the others weren't rubes.

Then he gave the little pixie a wink and gave a look at Sonya, "we'll call coordination from the bridge."

Sonya looked back at him like he was sniffing up her leg.

"Hmm." Sonya muttered trying to show no interest, as she turned from the table she gave a look to Siobhan and smiled as her back was to them. "Is that it then?" and walked to get a coffee.

Ayden figured that she would be going with the group most likely to draw fire. It would be silly not to be. Why would anyone want a medic in the field with a group not probably needing one?

She was expecting Rex to be part of that group. After all, he was a soldier used to close combat and probable skill in getting things done. She was confused as to why he thought that he would stay on the ship.

"So who do I go with?" she asked. "Or am I staying put and waiting for a call to help?"

She looked at everyone involved.

"I know how to handle a gun. My... father made sure of it." she told them, with the tone of the word 'father' sounding like he was akin to dog excrement.

God she hated him.

William looked puzzled at Rex and then Siobhán. "Comms? What do you think those are?" He pointed at the scattered earbuds on the table. "Like I said, they're all keyed into our secured channel. If you mean the station's comms, well, that's where the hacking comes in. But why need the station's comm? If security becomes aware of you, you'll know it. Alarms and klaxons will be sounding all over the station. "

He turned to Ayden. "You should tag with the security backup. The less folk going into the shipping office, the better the ruse. If we get into a shooting war, our boys will be the ones drawing fire."

"Same answer, similar reason," Siobhán responded, apparently not at all put out that she and Rex had been talking at cross purposes and that it had taken the captain to point it out.

"Nothing screams impending attack like the sudden appearance of secure communications," Siobhán said, and then added, "But once the operation is underway or if it needs to be aborted or whatever."

She shrugged. "Perhaps I am a little paranoid. Too much time going up against heavily guarded Alliance military installations."

William grinned. "Ah, but we're not attacking a heavily fortified Alliance base. The Skyplex is more civilian than anything else, and other merchants come and go packing similar secure ship's comms. So it shouldn't seem obvious. "

Despite the nagging that happened over Isaac's commentary, one of the newcomers to the crew did bring up something that made Skarlet perk up. Siobhán had been spending her time defending the new doctor, as well as rattling on about the comms network, and then she mentioned taking a look at Skarlet's bracelet. She sat up a little straighter at the mention. It had been years since her previous owner had stuck this on her due to some twisted notion of forcing her to learn how to shoot back when she still resisted the notion of taking a life. The notion was quickly drowned out by more talk about how they were going to pull off this job on the more technical side. However once things seemed to calm down she finally interjected, "Feel free to take a look, I've had other look onto it. But if your going to mess with this then you better be sure about it... if I lose my hand then I'll use my other one to flay you alive." To Siobhán it might sound like Skarlet was exaggerating, but the crew members that saw what she had done to rattlesnake with a few knives and plenty of spare time knew that it was a very real threat from the madwoman.

"Finally, someone wanting to so something for us." Skarlet glanced towards the copy that was hovering over Siobhán. The new additions had made Skarlet nervous. The ship already felt crowded to her, and the new members only compounded that problem. It ensured there was even less room for Skarlet to talk to her voices. It went without saying that the time they were traveling from the cave she mostly kept to herself, barely meeting these new members before this meeting. However one of the voices didn't share the negative point of view, "See, these people want to help us." Skarlet heard the click of her knife and noticed that she doppelganger was flicking the blade in her hand. Skarlet couldn't see the innocent voice, but when it spoke it sounded more distant, "You know it's true Skarlet! Please! Let them help us!" The copy of her walked out of the room, not looking too happy with her sister.

Skarlet stood up from her seat, "Is there anything else you need me for? Or are we just going to talk about how we handle our comms?" She looked over towards Siobhán, her earlier venom absent, "And um, let me know if you want to take a look at this."

"I stand corrected, guv," Siobhán said, in a cockney accent. "Objections withdrawn."

Skarlet said: "And um, let me know if you want to take a look at this."

"Whenever it suits, Skarlet," Siobhán replied and then added with a chuckle, "You might miss out on the opportunity to flay me, alive at any rate. If it goes wrong you stand to lose an arm whereas I stand to lose my head.

"Of course it probably wouldn't be the first time,"
she continued, with another laugh, thinking of relationships in the past she had committed to with her heart and not her head. None had lasted. It took her several seconds to realise that her gaze had shifted to Sonya when she thought about relationships but she didn't make the conscious connection. Something was niggling at her but she couldn't work out what and her mind, ever ready for a technical challenge slid back to contemplating the bracelet and what nasty surprises it might hold for the unwary.

SONYA GULLIVER and REX YANGTREE

Rex nodded with polite agreement as the Captain spoke, then as the meeting started to break up he searched out Ayden.

"Maybe we should have a talk, been busy since we got on board." His voice was more matter of fact, not baiting her now.

"Cabin in five?" His eyes studied her face. Whatever was going on they needed to settle it, his attention was needed on this infiltration mission and Ayden didn't seem to be here for a reconciliation.

...

Sonya leaned again a wall sipping a small cup of coffee from her right hand. Maybe a bit of a bored look, but it was directly at Siobhan, a little hook of a smile on on the left side. When Siobhan turned to look at Sonya, Sonya stopped sipping and moved the cup lower. She gave the smaller woman a fuller smile, one of approval. Rather it was for her part in the discussions, or something else.

And maybe it was the heat of the coffee that made Sonya Gulliver appear to flush.

Ayden kept to herself for the duration of the rest of the meeting. She had gotten a little confused though as to who she was meant to accompany during their "excursion." She figured that they'd tell her when they were closer to the time.

She was about to leave and try to find someplace alone and far away, but she felt a little gross and needed to change clothes. She had worked hard that day and wanted to freshen up.

That's when she heard him.

"Maybe we should have a talk, been busy since we got on board."

She turned to him and narrowed her eyes at him. God he annoyed her. Acting like he was wanting to get together like old friends. Well, they weren't old friends. They used to be more than that.

Now they were nothing and because he had left, she had lost everything.

"Cabin in five?"

She didn't know what he was up to. After all, he most likely should know what he had done to her so many years ago. Maybe he was going to apologize or something.

Would that even make a difference now?

"Give me a couple of minutes more. I have something I need to handle before you arrive."

Like changing her clothes and freshening up.

Lupin was content with the plan and began working with the ideas thrown to him and he began making up an ID badge of a mid-level executive which should be enough to get where needed without rousing suspicions. He typed away on his touch screen putting the basic details in and even began writing up some junk code and a copy of employee details in case someone tried to scan it. It was a basic job which wouldn't stand up to anyone who took 5 minutes to research the non-existent person or his position but this was meant for more than just buying beer.

For his psychotic companion he played around with hers a bit more. Since she was going to be playing the part of a soldier he figured the uniform and the gun would be enough for most cases. In his mind anyone who wanted to check her ID would be checking against the military's cortex which would take too long to put a fake record into and even longer to find someone that looked enough like her. Looking at Scarlett as she threatened to flay another crew mate alive he smiled for a brief moment knowing that she wouldn't let anyone push her around for a moment.

Sonya's smile intrigued Siobhán at a subconscious level and without conscious thought she found herself standing and walking toward Sonya. Her mind was still mainly occupied with Skarlet's problem but beginning to refocus on the enigma that was Sonya and she hadn't entirely missed the flush that had appeared on Sonya's face.

By the time she reached Sonya, Siobhán had put aside the problem of the bracelet and her eyes were locked on to Sonya's face, a broad smile on her own. Not that a broad smile on Siobhán's face was anything unusual; smiling broadly was her way.

"Is there any coffee left?" Siobhán asked Sonya as a way of opening the conversation.

Skarlet had quickly slink back into her room, leaving the first out of the rest of the crew members. In fact she had taken off before the meeting was officially ended, not like she could provide much use to the team trying to understand various chatters about how they were going to handle communications systems. That task was nigh impossible with the constantly chorus of voices that were always in Skarlet's head. Her decision on wanting to let Siobhán try and disconnect her from her rifle did bring a fresh topic of debate to the group. She knew that it was just another excuse to argue with one another and to try and drive Skarlet further into insanity. Her pace quickly picked up as she moved through the hallways of the Galiano, passing by pairs of copies arguing with each other. Some of them were even getting violent with one another, though any bloodshed would never last when they reappeared next. Others broke off to follow Skarlet to try and debate her, get her to snap and argue with them openly in a place where others could catch her. Skarlet walking into her quarters was a welcome releif. She quickly closed the door, her nails practically digging into the control pannel before she finally shouted. "Everyone just shut up!" She knew that the thick walls would ensure her privacy... as long as she wasn't too loud. As she turned around all 4 of the copies were sitting there, all staring right at her actually being quiet for a moment. Skarlet was able to tell each one of them apart by their body language or other features.

She looked to the first one, she was sitting on Skarlet's bed to keep her distance from the others, curled up to herself there were fear in her eyes as Skarlet shouted at her. "First off I am not doing this to make friends or that shi bing." She looked up to Skarlet, like this news was some sort of betrayal, "But she's so nice." Skarlet leaned forward, speaking to this voice like it was a small child, "I don't care. She's going to get this off. Then she can leave the ship for all I care." One of them retorted, still flipping a blade in her hands idly just like Skarlet often did, "And just how do you know she's going to get it off?" Skarlet was now pacing back and fourth like a caged animal, reveling in the fact that this moment of privacy meant that she didn't have to sit silently and bite her tongue while the others got to pick on her. "You guys don't have to carry this damn thing around. You don't have to change worrying about a gorram sniper rifle." One of the copies was hovering behind Skarlet when she spoke, "And just what is she getting out of this?" Skarlet span around, facing the door though she was looking into the eyes of her doppelganger, "You heard the captain, they're not terribly confident in me wandering about the station with this chained to me. How many times have we been kicked out of places cause of this?"

Skarlet's hands went to the side of her head as she closed her eyes for a moment, they weren't going to listen to her. They were all so single minded, one of them was still chattering about how Skarlet should use the opportunity to flay Siobhán alive. "Why am I even arguing with you guys? It's my rifle to drag around and it's my hand that gets lost!" It went without saying that all of them quickly protested, the room descending into chaos once again.

"Is there any coffee left?" Siobhán asked Sonya as a way of opening the conversation.

"Yeah," Sonya held up the tin the coffee had been made from. "But I think it's been sitting in the cupboard soaking up Galiano fumes since Uni-Day." Gulliver smile tried to match the pixie's but it just didn't quite have that whole perfect natural look. Still it was sincere, it just had a little few too many hard years on the edge.

Taking out a tin she pulled some tea bags sealing in plastic from it, "This is better," her eyes flickered unashamed quickly over her body. The smile turned just a little wolfish.

"So, Spitfire huh?" Gulliver's body turned to reach for the tea kettle, not too subtly moving just a little closer and to Siobhan's side. "Don't doubt you be that. But as nicknames go, I think I like pixie. Not that you don't got a fire burning, but I think you be a more of the magical than just brimstone."

She'd surprised even herself. The small woman had a definite sex appeal. The men on board seemed the type she was trying to avoid, despite herself. A deep breath forced her breasts to rise and fall. A few little fantasy 'captures' of the Pixie and what she could and would happily do to her filled her head. Everything else emptied out.

"Hmmm," Siobhán pondered, distracted not so much by the offer of a drink other than what she had intended but by the fact that she found herself standing rather closer to Sonya than she would normally.

"Careful, you never know where flattery might get you," Siobhán responded, and then wondered why she had done so. The truth was she was enjoying the flattery, the words, of course but even more so the way that Sonya was looking at her. She was used to that sort of attention from men but to have it from a woman was new, refreshing and, she had to admit to herself, more than a bit of a turn on.

The crazy thing was that she couldn't remember ever having entertained the idea of becoming intimate with another woman.

"Pixie works for me," she said and then added, with a flirtatious smile, "If I am a Pixie, and you seem to have cast some sort of spell on me to lure me into having tea rather than coffee, what does that make you? A wicked witch, perhaps?"

Siobhán plucked a tea bag from the tin and dropped it into a mug and poured water on to it. "So if I drink this potion of yours, what fate might befall me?"

Sonya was loving this now. She'd not been sure if the tiny perfect woman would be interested. Apparently she was, or at least the flirty part. That Sonya'd noticed about her right away. Maybe that's all she was, "That's the thing with love potions, they can have very unpredictable consequences...."

Something beeped on her ship comm on her belt. "Nav computer wants me to look at a contact." She moved away, Gulliver's eyes darted from the comm to the Pixie.

"And yes, I"m a very wicked witch." Sonya stopped at the exit of the Galley. "But I'm a very good wicked. I'd never hurt anyone under the influence of one of my potions. Quite the opposite."

She stepped into the hall. "Care to join me on the bridge, I may need some technical advice." Sonya took slow steps, waiting to see if Siobhan would join her.

"Is that so?" Siobhán asked when Sonya said that she would never hurt someone under the influence of one of her potions. "I might have to get you to prove that." She paused, head tilted down and looking up at Sonya from under her lashes.

"How does one prove a negative?" she mused. "We might have to accept a long period of experiment, observation and recording of outcomes but even then we can really only go on the balance of probabilities. After all, absence of evidence is not the same thing as evidence of absence."

She lifted her head and gave Sonya a long and appraising look. "Very well, I accept your challenge."

Siobhán was clearly enjoying herself and her pert breasts were suggesting that the enjoyment was not just between her ears as they thrust against the taught fabric of her jumpsuit, the state of her nipples clearly evident by the protrusions in the material.

"Technical advice, is it?" the pixie asked, her grin turning mischievous. "Or advice on technique?" she added with a giggle.

"I think the bridge is this way," she said, making to head in the opposite direction but trailing an arm within easy reach of Sonya to enable her to turn the pixie around.

The Galiano drifted into Ezra's space and nosed toward the high orbit skyplex. Several other ships were tucked into the structures docking pontoons, and two Alliance patrol craft sat in station a short distance away. The feeling of potential combat was thick in the Black around the station, as the news of heavy action in the Core reached the border systems.

William stood behind Sonya at the pilot station, watching their progress inbound. "We'll dock as a freighter, and disembark our two groups. "

He reached over to the secret panel and punched in a code, bringing up the identity suites, selecting one from the short list of bulk haulers. A series of bangs and grinds echoed down from overhead as artificial plates rose and titled on the outer hull, changing their general appearance.

"Technical advice, is it?" the pixie asked, her grin turning mischievous. "Or advice on technique?" she added with a giggle.

"I'm just a simple pilot, lots of technical advice I always need. And technique, yes of course; though I it's often nonverbal affirmatives that I find to be the best way to find the perfect technique."

"I think the bridge is this way," she said, making to head in the opposite direction but trailing an arm within easy reach of Sonya to enable her to turn the pixie around.

Sonya played along aware the woman knew exactly what she was doing. "Careful Pixie, the potion can be a disorienting at first. If you feel you're still swooning a bit later, someone might need to tuck you in, just to be sure you'd be safe and sound."

Siobhan's hand felt the ends of Sonya's fingers as it moved up her arm and stopped just above her elbow. The hand flexed, not to squeeze or pull, but to demonstrate a firmness without it pressing tighter around the smaller woman's hand.

As they headed to the bridge Sonya turned to business. "Once the caper is well underway I'm worried about a landlock, or station lock. You think you might be able to clear one of those?"

==========
On the bridge as they docked Sonya took Galiano in slow and easy, following the station crew's advice a bit unnecessary. Still it was always good to make new friends. "Thanks for the assistance." she told them as they docked.

She looked over the fake data that William had prepared, or rather was it the ship?

Captain Willian didn't quite seem the sort to have designed or much less set up this stealth ship. Gulliver wondered exactly how he come to possess it. Going through the fake documentations available had not previously provided any clues. It was something special this ship.

Siobhán didn't expect the tingle when Sonya touched her or the surge of pure lust that coursed through her. She had felt lust many times before, of course but only for men and never this strongly. "So, Pixie, you feel the urge to experiment, do you?" she asked herself with a mental grin that matched the smile on her face.

"I do feel a little lightheaded. I think I might need to call on someone to tuck me in later," she replied, putting on her best cute expression and batting her eyelids at Sonya. She kept pace with Sonya on the way to the bridge so that Sonya's hand could stay around her arm.

Sonya said: ".... station lock. You think you might be able to clear one of those?"

"It depends, " Siobhán replied enigmatically; she was an engineer, after all, and engineers were never known for giving an unqualified answer. Then her smile turned mischievous again as she added, "it depends on what it's worth to you."

Siobhán never could keep things entirely serious or rather, she had a tendency to conceal the serious matters behind humour or mischievousness.

"I think I can go one better." Siobhán's smile remained as she moved over to the pilot's console, her breast pressing against Sonya's arm as she leaned over the pilot and indicated a key sequence. "This will disengage the lock while making the port authorities think the lock is still in place and that we are still on the pad."
