The ship adjusted it's course and began it's weeks long Journey to Deadwood. Syl determined that Glory had enough fuel before they had to stop at a refueling station along the way. |

Bosch was quick. He had to giver her that. So Ian reached over to Dom's locker, the one no one was in front of and whipped it open, making sure he was not in the area of the open door. |

Doms locker contained a picture of the Glory crew from back in the day. Lane, Ian, Lear, Khei, Mike, Sonya, Becka, Balketh, Dom, Reese.. They were all standing proudly outside of Glorys ramp in the middle of the desert. Probably just after a job.. There was an old jacket which was empty and an empty holster that was hanging. All that remained was Jaspers locker.. |

It worked for a little while but soon it wasn't enough to keep those thoughts from creeping in, especially when she had found that she had made mistake and had to undo half of what she had just done. "At least it wasn't half of yesterday's as well," she thought, trying to distract herself. "The flute?" she wondered but that meant leaving the medbay and that meant both effort and deserting her post, albeit briefly. It would also be heard and might be a distraction to the crew of Glory or draw unwanted attention to her and that involved too much courage on both counts. With regards to the latter, Beth was a mouse in temperament as well as size, with all its insecurities and on the former count she would never forgive herself if she did something that, however unintentionally or obliquely, caused harm to someone in the crew. If she thought it through, she might have realised the hypocrisy of it, having accepted a job which might involve the necessity for performing surgery when she didn't know if she could carry through with it or would faint at the first sight of blood; or perhaps she did understand but was shielded by her subconscious from that level of self analysis. Beth sighed and looked at the embroidery. She had completed unpicking the mistake but the thought of repeating what she had already done, albeit correctly was too much and with another sigh she packed it carefully away in its bag and set it on the counter. A tear trickled down her cheek and not for the first time in her life wished that she had someone to put their arms around her, hold her close and tell her that it everything was all okay. As little as an hour ago Beth's first choice might have been April but now, even though their conversation had been cut short, it was Sylandra she wanted. "But Sylandra was stuck on the bridge and I am stuck here in the medbay," she thought and a tear rolled down her other cheek.

Jasper looked bored. He looked around. His locker didn't have much, he didn't have much. Jacket, some deck shoes, a change of clothes, a couple of his own personal tools. "Why are we looking for a transmitter? Is there a reason someone shouldn't have one, or be using one?" he asked the person next to him. He shifted his weight from foot to foot as his became the only remaining locker. |

An unreadable expression crossed Ian face as he looked from the locker to Jasper. He had no doubts about Dom, but Jasper??? "I never did ask you that question." He looked back at the locker and said to Jasper, though he did not look directly look at him. '"Please open you locker" His hand itched for the butt of his pistol but he refrained ... for the moment |

Abe tensed each time Bosch opened a locker, but was glad that nothing had been found in Dom's locker. She glanced in long enough to see an old picture of Dom and Ian with a bunch of other folks on Glory's ramp. Must have been the crew a while back. Maybe she would ask Dom to see it later and get a view of Ian's life at another time. But back to the task at hand. There was one locker left. Jasper's locker. She cued in on his body language. He was being shifty. Literally. His weight passed from one foot back to the other. "Why are we looking for a transmitter? Is there a reason someone shouldn't have one, or be using one?" He wasn't asking the Capt'n. He was speaking to whomever he was standing next to. She glanced back at Ian for a moment and the expression changed on his face. "I never did ask you that question." Something was not right, Abe's gun raised slightly. Not a straight out draw on Jasper, but high enough that said not to move. "Please open you locker" Abe would watch him and if need be, shoot him dead right there and make sure his body got tossed out the closest airlock. "Make sure ya do it without any sudden moves," she warned. "Situations like this leave me a bit twitchy, but just know my aim isn't. I won't miss." |

Jasper didn't appear to be in fear, but he did seem to understand what everyone figured to find in his locker. He moved slow to open it. It was locked. He stepped back. "Hey, I didn't lock it." the simple self setting combo locks were not difficult to set. Nor to get in to for a determined thief. "what would be the point?" Daltry gave the locker a small push up out of the pins that held the door shut, then shook it a little and the door swung open. Daltry stepped back. "Look, I know I'm ruttted, but anyone could have put a transmitter in there." He looked around for some support, "Right?" |

Jasper had an old jacket hanging up. If one were to search the pocket of the jacket they would discover a small handheld cortex that had the words SIGNAL TRANSMITTING flashing on the screen. |

Mike's hand had gripped his gun and pulled it from his holster. It wasn't up and pointed at anyone yet though, it waited at his side dangling from his limp on. The writing was on the wall, but Becker still waited on the captain's word before acting. Mike ran his tongue around the inside of his cheek as he watched Jasper carefully. "How about we go take you back to your room and figure this out." He looked to Dugan for agreement. Room arrest seemed like a good first step before that started questioning him. Plus there was more to it. Someone in the know could take a look at the device. And if this really was someone else's doing, Mike found some suspicions easier than others. |

Ian searched the locker. There was not much in it. In the pocket of the jacket was a small handheld that was transmitting. Ian took the unit, holding it mainly by the coat itself and pushed the stop button. "Jasper, please do as Mike suggests. Bosch, Abe, Dom. We need to search the ship, We need ta do it in pairs. Giving Jasper the benefit of the doubt, I want ta make sure we are alone. We still have that building to blow and save Biff." He paused, wrapping the PDA in a cloth "We need ta get this ta the Med Bay and play detective. Jasper's prints are on file on the Cortex. We can compare them ta what on here." He looked at his crew that were there. "We still need ta decide who's finishing the mission and who's going ta Deadwood." |

JASPER DALTRY "Sure. No problem." Daltry look a little relieved that things were not going to be left to the mob rule of an angry crew. He gave tip the invisible hat to the Captain to let him know he respected not be assumed to be guilty. Despite trying not to be obvious by looking for a way out, Jasper couldn't help look over his options as they walked to his cabin. Becker was staying sharp, so that was a high risk; talking wouldn't do much good, maybe even make him look worse; so it was the cabin. He took a seat on his bunk, leaving Becker a chair and an advantageous position by the door. Daltry figured he's want it that way anyway, so might as well make some good grace between them. "Been with this crew long?" he asked. And then, "I'm no informer. No snitchy or spy." they must have his records. Jasper Daltry did hard time to keep his mouth shut. |

Sylandra leaned back in the #1 seat and put her boots up on the edge of the console. Change in route was in the nav-comp, with a slight bypass to a refuel along the way. She fingered the PLR-16 on her hip and drew it slowly out of the holster, popped the mag and cleared the chamber. She began breaking down the gun while reaching into her shoulder pack, drawing out the cleaning kit. Turning slightly in her swivel chair, she laid the gun parts out on the side shelf, assembled the ramrod with swab on one end, and fed it into the barrel. She fell into an automatic routine; muscle memory running through the steps to ensure Bruce's effectiveness. With no action up in the bridge, she was content to deal with those functions that required no direct thought of her own. Instead, her thoughts drifted to the woman in the medical bay... There was a softness to her skin, a warmth that Syl had dismissed from others, and now felt the tingle growing in her own loins. Not since Cypher; Not since her terms on Arc. There hadn't been time nor incentive to feel open to another for so long, she had not been sure of whether she was ready to welcome someone else into her life. She licked her lips and tasted the faint stickiness of her lipstick. Would Beth like that color? Would she approve of Syl's dress and manor? The thoughts crawled through her scalp as if tiny insects were prowling around under her hair. The tingling in her loins grew with intensity at the mere though of the smaller woman. A satisfied grin grew on her lips, wet and moist like her nether regions.

Beth would have been surprised to learn that Sylandra was thinking about her, despite the few moments of closeness they had shared. If she had known the nature of some of them she would have been really rather shocked. It wasn't that Beth was a prude, though it was true that she was a little squeamish on anything that got close to descriptions of sex and the one time in her life that sex had become and imminent possibility she had run. She would have, at some level, been flattered at being the object of someone's desire but at another, alarmed that Sylandra's thoughts had progressed that far. But she had no idea and so for the meantime, at least, the point was moot. She did wonder if Sylandra was thinking about her as much as she was thinking about Sylandra. "You could always call her to see if she has heard anything," Beth thought; her rational was that she didn't want to interrupt the Captain. "Or do you just want to hear her voice?" she asked herself. It seemed a more honest assessment of her motive though the lack of news was causing her concern. Plucking up courage she opened up a comm link to the Bridge. "Hi Sylandra, it's Beth." she said shyly. "I was wondering if you have been .... if you have heard anything from the Captain?" Beth was glad Sylandra couldn't see the colour rising to her cheeks as she narrowly stopped herself from asking if Sylandra had been thinking about her.

"We've had our fair share of bad eggs. You just let us figure this one." Mike held a position by the door, standing rather than sitting, his gun holstered though. Becker stayed alert. He was all for the possibility that Jasper was innocent, but he was also all for the possibility that Jasper was biding his time and actually quite dangerous. Plus his fondness for the ladies hadn't helped. While Mike wouldn't admit it on a conscious level, catching Jasper eyeing up Reese hadn't drawn positive connotations. Mike glanced around. "You mind if I check your room?" |

JASPER DALTRY Jasper's quarters. Jasper nodded as Becker spoke. Then he asked to search the room. He considered his options. Again. Figuring there wasn't many options, even if he could get the jump on what he sized up as a likely formidable opponent, there was no where to run. Best hope it all worked out in his favor. Keep options open though. "Sure, look away. Not really had much chance to setting in." he nodded to his half emptied bag and slid back on his bunk to make it much harder for him to make a move. A reassurance that he couldn't do anything sudden, and maybe get him thinking he had no inclination either. |

Abe watched Ian as he uncovered the transmitter in Jasper's locker. She wanted to shoot him, but she knew that they needed to get down to the bottom of this. They especially had to figure out who the signal was being sent to and what exactly did it mean. "Jasper, please do as Mike suggests. Bosch, Abe, Dom. We need to search the ship, We need ta do it in pairs. Giving Jasper the benefit of the doubt, I want ta make sure we are alone. We still have that building to blow and save Biff." There he went again. Ian always being so noble. She hoped that his reticence to take action did not come back to bite Ian in the butt. He was noble and as long as she knew him, he always had been. It was actually something that endeared him to her even more. But these were tough times. Things had changed immensely. Furthermore, the thought of a stowaway made her sick. If the transmitter didn't belong to Jasper, they could have an unauthorized person on board. God only knew what a person on board under that kind of situation might do. Were they looking for information or were they looking to take out some leaders in the new resistance? "We need ta get this ta the Med Bay and play detective. Jasper's prints are on file on the Cortex. We can compare them ta what on here." Then he looked around at all of them. "We still need ta decide who's finishing the mission and who's going ta Deadwood." She knew where she was going. She was going to continue to watch the back of her man. Where Ian went, so would she. "I'm with ya whether it be to Deadwood or the mission," she told him, the tone in her voice telling him that she would not be deterred. "Let's get that transmitter delivered and get ta searchin' the ship. The faster we get down to the bottom of this, the better it will be for all of us." Edited by abbey, Jan 28 2015, 06:59 PM.

Once they broke apart Ian followed them out of the locker room with the PDA he had found in Jasper's locker, wrapped in Jasper's coat no less. He agreed with Abe in her statement about the need for a speedy resolution to their current situation As the others searched or began their search Ian made his way to the Med Bay, knocked and entered "Hi Beth. Do you have a DNA scanner or a very powerful scope? We need to check who the owner of this PDA is. It's either one of the crew or an extra body, and I dont mean Gizmo." He set the PDA on the table and moved to the Comm unit on the wall and thumbed the control for the Bridge. "Syl, make sure the Bridge is secure. Including the hatch from the Observation Deck. Make sure Reese has the Engine Room locked up tight too." ((OOC) Made an assumption that the door to the Med Bay was not locked. If it was, I'll edit my post accordingly) Edited by ian dugan, Jan 29 2015, 07:34 AM.

"I was wondering if you have been .... if you have heard anything from the Captain?" Sylandra was about to respond, a too big smile on her face, when Ian transmitted. "Sly, make sure the Bridge is secure. Including the hatch from the Observation Deck. Make sure Reese has the Engine Room locked up tight too." Sylandra keyed the intercom. "Bridge secured all 'atches. Engineering? Report on secured status." She glanced backward at the hatch as if to make sure no one had snuck up on her in the meantime.

It was only when Ian knocked and entered the Medbay that Beth realised that she should have locked the hatch, a realisation that was reinforced a minute or so later when Ian called Sylandra and told her to make sure the bridge was properly secure. "That was silly, Bethany," she told herself. "I have both, Sir," Beth replied. "I will see what I can find." Beth pulled a couple of boxes out of lockers and set them on the table. From one she pulled a handheld DNA scanner and then putting on a pair of surgical gloves she unwrapped the PDA and having picked it up carefully, ran the scanner over all the surfaces. She set the scanner aside to let it process the results and pulled an optical scanner out of the other box and repeated the process. "If there is anything to find I should have the results in a few minutes. Do we have everyone's DNA profile on file or do I need to take a reading from everyone? On second thoughts, it might be an idea to take a fresh reading, just in case what we have on file has been tampered with." "Where did I learn to be that suspicious?" she asked herself but she didn't need to look far. The way the authorities had investigated the fire at the clinic and immediately leapt to the conclusion that April had set the fire because she had subsequently taken her own life had left her more than a little jaundiced.
