Burning Memories (Glory ACT II)

The arrival was rocky at best, though the brief turbulance was in the back of everyone's minds. On board the Glory everyone had their demons to deal with - memories long buried coming to light, old faces coming back as new ones, and burning spires of anxiety on the horizon.

It had been a good plan, given the circumstances. If it was anyone in the 'Verse who needed a hard earned rest, it was those on board this ship. It was Gulliver who'd made the suggestion of Greenleaf, a place she'd mentioned a few times during her time on board. It was a place she called home, a safe haven that would welcome the crew with open arms, and a tiny speck on the radar to anyone who might mean them harm.

That home was Cachetteen, the hidden village of the Brown Hill People.

And that morning, as the Glory broke through the atmosphere of Greenleaf to reveal the rolling forests and mountains and valleys below them, Cachetteen was burning.

Karyn watched the fighter moving off with the two captured dangling underneath.

"Should'a seen that one coming. "

As soon as Mike had the last of the crew on board, she revved engines and tipped the nose up slightly, in order to miss the tree line. She glanced back once to ensure all were settled in, and then hit the throttle, and tilted the yoke gently to the left.

Blaze tore out of the canyon, banking port and curving away from the caves, Glory and the burned out village. Karyn watched the scanners for any sign of being followed or that hazardous signature of a missile launch. Sweat soaked her neckline and her blouse was getting itchy. Her eyes seemed to be everywhere as she kept the shuttle hugging the tree tops until they dropped away to snow tipped hills and tundra.

Distance was the key now. Distance in both geography and time.

Glory wasn't going anywhere, although its security might not hold up to heavy military issue intrusion.

Neither would we, for that matter.
But my heart is not weary, it's light and it's free I've got nothing but affection for all those who sailed with me
Stick with me baby, stick with me anyhow. Things should start to get interestin' right about now

Biff listened to the man and pushed him down in the darkness. In a flash of steel Biff emerged alone from shadows finally sheathing his knife. Racing back towards the shuttle he was taken aback seeing Cole up and about strapping himself into a chair. Stranger things he'd seen but this was a hell of a recovery.

(OOC: Sorry all real life hell is interrupting me. Didn't mean for this to be such a short wrap up post.)

There weren't many options, but Karyn remembered one place Sonya had mentioned. Alliance free (mostly, er generally... er, usually) and open to any and all. 'du Sabre's Trading Post'. The coordinates were in the nav system. It wasn't exactly as secret at The Village was supposed to have been; but unless the Captain arrived with other options, that was pretty much the choice.

((OOC a little Narrator Press here to click off one episode, reset who's active, and get another episode running-that being going back with some repair parts to fix Glory and get her back in the black))
