It has been two long months since events on board the IAV Ziggurat. Now it's just called The Fall. Having survived the chaos of Verbena and making it off world alive, Ian Dugan and Tobias Hawke find themselves staring up at the night sky of the planet Ghost, a nearby gas giant, the aptly named Zeus, sat lazily on the horizon. Things had gotten rather messy in the Kalidasa sector of late, and the small planet was now being used to dispose of the various remains. The air stank of death, a scent the pair were all too familiar with now. It shouldn't be long now... Roughly 300 miles above, the Glory slowly dipped into the planets orbit and began their descent. Captain Becker stood on the bridge, trying to catch a glimpse through the think clouds below. Having spent weeks trying to locate Ian, break the blockade somehow and rescue them, but with no luck. Just as he was about to give up, a coded Cortex message bounced to the ship, with only a set of co-ordinates. He hoped it wasn't a trap, Niska just rubbing it in, but something felt right this time, like maybe this could be for real.... |

Dirtside Ian stood by Tobias and watched the stars. "Somewhere, out there, by the first star on the left, and straight on til morn is our way off this berg." When he had finally been able to get a message out, that wasn't intercepted, or encrypted beyond gibberish, almost two months had passed. He had not received word from the Glory, but knew she was there. "Do ya hear it? The Black is callin, home is near." He cleared his throat "Sorry about that. Been dirtside too long." He and Tobias Hawke had come to terms in that two months. His former crew had once again become family, sorta. At least to him, anyway. "I promised you a way out and I always keep my word. Good or bad. Ultimately, we are only as good as that." |

Mike met Trina's concern with a smile, appreciating the thought. "I ain't about to let someone pluck me away from you Trin." Was his way of saying he didn't intend to die now he had something to live for. A continuation of his smile followed before he pushed himself through the doorway and on to duties. On his way to the bay was a companion and a gunhand. "Mister Rokash," Becker shared with a tip of his hat before moving past. There was something about the man's stature and reputation that had caused Mike to make a habit of the formal greeting. It was purely friendliness though. Becker reached the main bay and made for the doors, which he promptly opened. He had a few seconds of time to wait before he was greeted with what waited for him on the other side. That was nothing. Becker had briefly believed that he may be met on the ship's doorstep, but perhaps not. Retrieving his PDA from his pocket, Mike pulled up a screen that displayed current co-ordinates and target co-ordinates, there was a small walk between them. Becker turned and looked back into his ship, waiting for his gunhand but ready to greet anyone who crossed his way. |

After mixing pleasantries with Remy Biff gave a nod to Trina. The ships doctor was very kind but her eyes betrayed a void all to familiar with Biff. The stain of war, loss, and guilt. He smiled as Becker passed in the hall and knew it was time to get to it. Putting a hand to Remy's back he smiled. "Well my friend I'm off to escort Dugan home and that loud mouthed maniac. Should be fun. I'll see you when I get back." Entering into the cargo bay Biff looked around seeing Becker looking back. "How do you think this is going to go down?" |

Gulliver stopped at the lockers next to the cargo doors as Becker looked out. She retrieved a set of double telescopic binocs and a sniper scope. She almost closed the locker door then took out the sniper rifle too. She'd spent some time going through Glory's gear. It wasn't sorted to her liking, but now at least she knew where things were. She moved next to Becker. Handed him the motion binocs. "Captain Naked still kissin' all the girls and makin'em cry?" Sonya stomped down the ramp and started circling the ship looking through the scope. Edited by Tojoyama, May 18 2013, 04:26 AM.

As the rest of the team head out to find the subjects of this landing, Karyn punches up the long range visual scanner, panning across the horizon, watching for any movement. I'm still not sure about this Hawke fellow. Seems like he brings more trouble wherever he goes. |

Requiem for a Hawke
|
Hawke rolled his eyes again, an action he had become accustomed to in regards to Ian. As they stood there, Tobias stuck a hand out, his only hand, and put the back of it gently against his chest, a symbol to bar him from going any further. "Hey." He turned side on, staring down somewhat at the man, the same hollow look in his eyes that had been there for little over a month now. "That ain't the black callin'. That's just your ship. I feel like we been over this before, but I don't mind goin' over it again for your sake, seein' as your memory's as shoddy as mine..." His other arm, shrouded only by the edge of his rolled up brown coat, flicked forward, and a great patchwork saber slid out and clicked into place. It was longer than an arm in its own right, extending just beyond where his left hand would have sat. The spine of the blade was all welded pieces of junk - from Ziggurat wreckage, ironically - and the blade had been worn away to a serviceable edge over many sleepless nights, on things other than him. He pointed the blade somewhat skyward, straight up to space. "The Black is a terrible and dark place. Fulla nightmares and monsters like me." He swung the blade idly, looking down as if to spy the whistling sound it made, roughly gouging the air. "I made my home there. You made your home on your ship, in defiance of the Black itself. With people t' watch your back." He gripped Ian's shoulder, shaking it gently with a worn, old smile down at the man who'd helped him survive the last two months. "Just look at the worlds of difference between us, it's proof alone." With a slap on the back, Hawke thrust his saber forward, and stepped off. A creak of metal in his step made him pause. Reaching down past his gun, he straightened up the metal hinge splint he had juryrigged onto his leg. "Be glad to get this gorram thing off when we get back... Not looking forward to the scans, eh?..." He smiled again, chuckling with a faltering in each breath, thumbing his face to remove some of the dried blood that seemed to almost permanently sit running down his face and neck. "Where's she touching down?" It had been a long, long two months... |

Becker ran his tongue across his gums as he looked out following Biff's question. "I think," he began with an air of optimism, "beings how they aren't here. We're gonna head to the co-ords, see old friends, exchange hugs, exchange... a tough chat, then head back." "But don't get too comfortable in that idea."
"He's havin' a slow year, I'm sure he'll catch up." He looked to Sonya and the sniper rifle she held. "Guess you're coverin' the area. Sounds solid." Another glance to dirtside and a flick of his fingers to gesture accompaniment. "Let's go then." And so Mike began, following PDA instructions on where Dugan And Hawke should reside. Sonya had the rifle strapped across her back. "oh." Staying with the ship hadn't been her intention, but she had no objections. She followed them part of the way, up to a rise in the terrain, stopped and looked through the sniper scope she had been carrying. "uhm." Sonya said. "Scruffy looking mischievous sort and a tall crazy mythological sidekick?" She pointed along in the direction they had been heading. Sonya zoomed the scope in and watched Ian. He looked tiny in the scope, like a grown up little Ian. Trouble. "Mm." (spotted with Nar permission) |

Ian smiled up at Tobias as he had yet again tried to say they were a lot different from each other. Ian really didn't think so. Not down deep. Ian followed after the big man and made way toward the extraction point with trepidation. Mike had been Captain now for two months. How was he going to feel when Ian showed back up and took the reins back. What changes had he made in that time? Had he slept in his bed? Had he not?? So many questions. But one thing was right. "You're right about one thing, Tobias, the Glory is my home. Yours too, as long as you want it to be. You may not remember, but it's always been that way since the first time you step foot aboard." With that he followed the giant in silence as they made their way. |

It didn't take long until Becker and Calhoon found themselves approaching Dugan and Hawke from opposite directions. At first sight Mike couldn't be sure, only hopeful that Glory's captain was back within is grasp. Confirmation of his presence brought a smile. Confirmation of his company brought ambivalence. Mike struggled with how to act between the pair before him. He was glad to see Ian intact, but by current understanding Tobias was the man who'd put a bullet in Cole. Glory's true captain looked well though, and at peace with the man by his side. That made Michael more comfortable with his approach. "Ian." A hand for a handshake. "Sorry it took so long." And a transition into a man hug with plenty of back patting. As he retreated he looked over to Balketh while taking a deep breath. "You're gonna have to explain this one to me captain, 'cause I'm strugglin'." |

"Heh heh I never do captain." Biff followed after Becker setting a little distance in a wedge formation had they more of a squad with them. Looking over the terrain approvingly and taking in the sights. When they approached the missing captain and Hawke Biff waited till Becker and the captain began to converse. As they greeted each other Biff went and stood by Tobias greeting him. "Well I never thought that I'd see you again after we parted ways in that alley Hawke let alone as mangled as you are." Biff spoke without malice and with respect from one warrior to another. Tobias and himself fought a hell of a battle that night in the ruins of the cafe where they lost poor Joseph. "Plus I didn't come out of it that unscathed either." Indicated the slight limp that was on the mend from the bullet he took in the leg. |

Sonya waited at the little rise in the terrain, held the scope up while Biff and Becker approached Hawke and Captain Ian Dugan. She thought a naughty thought, hitched a smiled to the corner of her mouth and turned her attention to the rest of the horizon. Karyn had the atmo, so she just needed to make sure they were as alone and desolate in the best empty spot they could find. Glory was in a low spot, nicely picked out by Karyn. Sonya's little smirk turned down a second as she pondered how unfair it was that the purple bellied bitch was gorram good at everything that mattered. Not good. Better. She'd completed a 360 and come to rest her eye on the talking party. The smirk returned. Well, not everything I bet.

Remy met up with Biff in a corridor, Remy smiled at his friend, they had been through so much together, and to find out that they actually could stand the sight of each other after everything they had been through made him feel good. Sometimes when you go through such pain and anguish with someone, you just want to forget it, and everything to do with it. It was good that they could be friends, afterall, Remy didn't have many in the 'Verse, people he could call friends, Clients, sure, but friends, they were few and far between. They were met by Trina, Remy smiled courteously, and they were soon joined by Becker, the acting Captain. he laid out plans, and Remy listened, not really knowing what he could do to help. Remy smiled as Biff left, and patted him on the back as he walked away, contact, sometimes words werent needed. It was just Remy and Trina left. Do you need help with anything? he asked Trina, he had nothing to do, and might as well had made himself useful, otherwise, the crew may not have need for him Edited by ribsource, May 19 2013, 11:50 AM.

Remy beat Trina to her question for him and she offered up a smile. "Actually, I was going to see about a 'welcome home' meal for Ian... and company, but as many people as we have on board, I could use a little help with it." She hadn't planned on anything fancy, but with her shoulder still recovering, lengthy food preparations for even a simple meal got a little overwhelming. "I need to prep medical before I head to the kitchen, but if you're interested, I could meet you in the kitchen or we could talk over what I was thinking about for the meal if you'd like to come with me." Trina hadn't gotten to know Remy all that well, though they had spoken some over the last couple of months. She hadn't exactly been overly social with her shoulder and the relationship with Mike blossoming. That poor social behavior around others was eating at her a little and she did want to get to know people a little better. It always seemed to help with easing any future medical concerns. |

Ian had approached with trepidation and went through the handshake and smiled when it turned to a brother hug with much back slapping.
Once that was done
"No worrys. You did good, Captain" Becker looked over at Tobias.
"What's to explain. You know my rule. Once family, always family. As long as I'm captain, Glory's doors are never shut on crew." He paused and contined "I am still Captain, aren't I?" He asked his question in all seriousness. "Mike, you handled yourself with valor, you could be Captain of your own ship. I'm just wondering if you'll let me have my old job back is all. If you do, you'll need to tell me how you have things now, so I don't make a fool of myself when I step back aboard." Edited by ian dugan, May 20 2013, 01:41 PM.

"You kidding me?" Michael asked, somewhat bewildered, even looking over to Biff as if for confirmation that he'd heard the words probably. His gaze fell back on the true captain. "She's yours, I was just keeping her warm for you." Becker had no reservations about relinquishing command, once again it would be a relief. "Pretty sure the last thing I said to you was don't leave me in charge again. You're really gonna have to work on that." After the joke Becker glanced to Tobias again. Once a friend always a friend? How could it be that simple? "Your ship, your rules." He said, Tobias' presence on board being out of his hands and with his reputation it seemed unwise to cause a scene. He'd collar Dugan on it in private. "There are a few crewing matters to discuss though. I kinda filled the ship." He ran over the crew in his head, thinking if there were any big issues to address "Kinda emptied it too." Mike stepped to the side and gestured with a hand the direction he had come from. "How 'bout I tell you on the way." |

Requiem for a Hawke
|
Hawke eyeballed the pair as they approached, and fell uncharacteristically silent, at least by Ian's experience in the last two months. His hat pulled low, he let Ian speak, and was wholly content to let him do all the talking to the ship and into the black, but a familiar face, in a sea of blank canvasses, addressed the damaged man.Hawke continued to eyeball the man to his side, raising an eyebrow. A scoff came from Tobias, of all things. "Yeah, some real battle damage you got there." He spat - though not in a way inferred to be rude - onto the ground. It was mostly red. The arm-length, large blade that made up his left arm waggled, rapping against his duster-hidden legs. The sound of metal hitting dull metal rang through. "Only thing keeping me standing right now are these pistons, and a lot of vitriol, but - that's still nothin'." He grunted, shifting a leg forward with a pneumatic hiss. The salvaged arms of some kind of small loader appeared to be strapped to his legs, jointed at the knee. They were acting as some kind of splint/power-leg combo, for what little they helped. "Hey, Crosseye." The man turned, calling to... Someone. His amber gaze fixed on Ian - 'Crosseye' seemed to perhaps be a nickname Hawke had come up with for Ian, its exact meaning ambiguous to all but the two. It was spoken without care, in such a natural manner... "You wanna move this along? You said your medbay could help - wanna get around to that soon." He reached his only hand out and rapped Ian on the shoulder, staring down at him. What small grin he had vanished briefly as he spoke. "Vision's going again..." He coughed, looking back to the only other face he recognized - the fourth man among them an utter mystery to him. "Yeah... Yeah, that's nothin'... You wanna know what scathed really looks like?" He shot Biff a broad, toothy grin, gazing down at the man with seemingly lit, amber eyes. "A planet hit me... Ask Crosseye what I did to the planet." He strode off in the direction the two men had come from, a gangly strain in his hissing, heavy steps. |

Ian smiled and nodded when Mike told him about how he felt at being in charge. "I seem to recall somthin about you not wanting ta be left in charge, after all." He listened to Mike as he gave a brief description on the status and was about to honor Mike with a proper salute ...
Ian rolled his eyes, and almost looked crossed eyed as he did. "How many times have I asked ya not ta call me that. Especially in front a the children." He grew serious as Tobias continued.
Ian nodded and started to moved, indication that Mike should lead the way because he had not seen where the Glory had landed. Tobias continued to talk about Verbena and the Ziggurat "Mike, suppose you give me a complete status while you show us the way home." |

"Erm, status?" Mike stumbled over the words despite their simplicity. Something about assuming he meant the current status of the ship and not knowing how to describe that thre him. "You mean, what's been going on, right?" "Well departures first. Dom took his leave. Something came up that he wasn't too sharing about. Once Anders put that fella we found in a good hospital, he took off too. Business to attend to he called it." "Sonya's stuck around, but..." He chose his words carefully. "But not quite as I remember her. Though that's going around." His eyes briefly flickered in Tobias's direction. "Took on Karyn too, she's a hell of contribution. Biff here of course, he's a solid gun. And I've been grantin' passage to a Remy and a Jenna. The first is a companion, got some connections, actually found us a nice job and put us on some paths we don't usually get to travel. The other is a bit of mystery, but she was a package deal with Remy." When Becker reached a position from which he felt Sonya could see him, he gave a half hearted saluted in her direction, aiming to gesture that everything was shiny. "I did give everyone a heads up that I couldn't grant permanent positions. Put the final call down to you on your return." A brief pause. "Which is now." |

"All's clear." Sonya said into her comm. She lingered on watching them walk toward the ship. "I"ll be on our six while they approach." Then Sonya, feeling a strange rush of anticipation at Ian approaching. "That's the other side of from where they're approaching," She teased Karyn. "Right admiral?" Sonya walked somewhat around the ship, really wanting to be at the ramp. But it was an empty place. Chances of landing right on someone that would do them harm was small. But Glory had a way of attracting evil cockroaches. |
