It has been two long months since events on board the IAV Ziggurat. Now it's just called The Fall. Having survived the chaos of Verbena and making it off world alive, Ian Dugan and Tobias Hawke find themselves staring up at the night sky of the planet Ghost, a nearby gas giant, the aptly named Zeus, sat lazily on the horizon. Things had gotten rather messy in the Kalidasa sector of late, and the small planet was now being used to dispose of the various remains. The air stank of death, a scent the pair were all too familiar with now. It shouldn't be long now... Roughly 300 miles above, the Glory slowly dipped into the planets orbit and began their descent. Captain Becker stood on the bridge, trying to catch a glimpse through the think clouds below. Having spent weeks trying to locate Ian, break the blockade somehow and rescue them, but with no luck. Just as he was about to give up, a coded Cortex message bounced to the ship, with only a set of co-ordinates. He hoped it wasn't a trap, Niska just rubbing it in, but something felt right this time, like maybe this could be for real.... |

Kheu looked at Biff and was shocked at his words. She took it hard when she thought she had seen the mutilated body of Cole on the medical table aboard the Ziggurat. Tears welled in her eyes as she mumured. "Cole..?" She then fell sideways out of the chair and onto the floor, hitting her head in the process. Khei had passed out from the shock. |

Biff's eyes widened as Khei fell. He tried to catch her but couldn't. He sighed and checked her pulse. He examined her as best as he could given his knowledge of first aid both on the battlefield and in the wilderness. If she wasn't concussed he would simply carry her to her quarters. Trina was already a bit overburdened right now. He looked around to the others on the bridge. "So she didn't seem to hit hard but she's out like a light. I don't think she's concussed and her pulse is steady if a bit fast but I'd like a second opinion before I pile her on top of our ever busy doctor." |

After Biff had left, heading forward, Karyn stood for a moment, looking past Hawke's torso as if trying to decide what to do next. Finally she sighed and turned away, heading toward the crew cabins. "Well, I have a few hours to catch some shut eye before we land. Hope the next planet is not so surprising as this last one has been." She left the open bay and proceeded down the corridor to her bunk area. As she entered, she ran her fingers through her hair and caressed the back of her neck. |

Trina swore, the words rumbling from her throat more than coming through clearly. She stopped the gurney from moving any further and immediately started taking vitals. Taking one of the straps from the gurney, she did her best to force it between Cole's teeth and then laid across him and pinned his head. It was all she could do until the seizing stopped. "Cole! I know you can hear me! You have to breathe... deep breaths, put all you can into it! Come on, Cole. I know you can do this!" She spoke directly into his ear, firmly, demandingly. If she could get him to even out his breathing on his own, he would be one step closer to recovering. "You're so close, Cole! I'm here... I can help, but I need you to breathe for me!" |

Remy who had stayed in the medical bay had hit the emergency button near the door. A blue light flashed through the ship as a distinct tone began to whale indicating it was a medical emergency. "We need some help in here!" Remy yelled over the ship-wide com. |

Being near the medical bay, Karyn turned on her heal at her cabin and strode to the bay. "What can I do to help?" Before getting a response, she grabbed the gurney to stead it, and then held down Cole's feet to keep him from thrashing about. |

Ian was just about to answer Mike's question with an 'We'll think of somethin' whe he heard Remy. He looked back toward the Med Bay, to Mike and turned to run the short distance when he heard Biff's cry for help about Khei. "Mike, see to Khei I'll look to Cole." He ran the short distance and arrived behind Karyn. "Remy, Khei KO'd herself on the Bridge. See if you can help, or help move her to here." He moved further into the room. "What can I do, Doc?" |

Commotion came thick and fast. Something was occurring on the bridge but it was out of sight, only explicable by a few words after. Then came shipwide comms alerting him of issues in the med-bay. Becker's preferred move was toward Trina, and 'Cole' with whatever surprise was being showcased, but captain's orders sent him in the other direction. He jogged a short distance to put himself back on the bridge. "How did..." The sight of Khei on the floor was not something Mike enjoyed seeing. He moved toward her and offered his inspection which with no medical basis came from assumption more than anything else. She looked well enough, for an unconscious being, and Becker would have felt comfortable moving her to her quarters. If not for one lingering question. "What happened?" |

Biff looked up at Becker when he asked his question. "I don't know. I came up here to ask her to look into the new device we have stored in the cargo bay and then I told her about Cole. She just collapsed after that. She seems stable." Biff was hoping that Michael would come to the same assessment. His nerves were shot and he hated seeing Khei this way. He hadn't really got to know Khei in the time since he came aboard Glory. The others said that what happened to Cole had really messed her up. "If she's fine to move and you think she doesn't need further attention I can take her to her room." |

Sonya's instinct had been to go to the fallen girl, but the others were faster. She'd froze a couple seconds. Then she remembered her place. Officer on watch, bridge duty. With an apparent dissociation she returned to monitor the bridge. With an eye on who was rushing and in which direction, Gulliver found herself standing in the middle of the bridge, hands folded into each other behind her back. Eyes moved to screens, to the window in front of them, to the members of crew and passengers. "Captain's in med bay, Mike." she reported. He needed to know what was going on didn't he? That the Captain had arrived there. The Yang in her head had taken control. Ninjar at the wheel. This was her bridge again. She commed the med bay while she watched the activity there on a screen. "Khei remains unconscious Doctor. The trauma of the news of Mr. Cole caused her to feint. Should she be moved, and if so; to the med bay or her quarters?"

A brief flash of annoyance crossed Mike's features. While he himself hadn't expected such a bad reaction, this served as good reason as to why Khei shouldn't have been informed, as was instructed. It was perhaps reasonable, but with a tech expert on the floor Becker struggled to see past the moment. He glared a Biff briefly then sighed and met Sonya's gaze as she spoke. Becker spoke loud enough to get in on the comm message to med-bay. "She should be fine in her room. You can swing by when you finish up." Trina was certainly going to have more concerning matters at her hands, and an extra dollop of worry was not something she needed. Biff had nominated himself, so Mike rose and stepped away allowing him to transport Khei. Before Biff could take his leave though, Becker connected a few dots in his head. "Hey Biff wait. What was it about the box that Khei needed to see?" Becker sensed there was another problem afoot. |

Biff took note of Becker's annoyance and took it. He would take the heat round for telling her about Cole but it had been killing her. Anger boiled inside of him at the Alliances hubris. They are not God!! "The crate had a device under Cole. To be safe I put it in the old bacta tank in case it was a trap. It didn't explode. Now I'm wondering what it is doing." Biff picked up Khei and began to leave the bridge. She seemed so light and he wondered if she had been eating regularly. I did the right thing. How tormented is this poor soul. His hate for the Alliance was bubbling up again. He had found a way to push that hate down and not let it eat him but he was appalled by experimentation and ruined lives that are in the wake of the Alliance's recent actions. |

It was hard to remember how long since she'd felt this way. Full of confidence in the middle of a swirl of confusion. XO on Glory, or when she had her own ship for that short time. Maybe it was something they did to her on Ziggurat, maybe it was the psychotic triggers going off like before. But Sonya stepped toward Biff and Becker. She put a hand on both their shoulders, not really understanding where the testosterone levels were boiling up from, only that they'd best serve her, that is Glory; directed toward something else. "Maybe get Toby the Tinkertoy boy and Ian to check the box. Seems like they'd be right for looking at bombs." Ian had done it before. And Hawke, well it seems pretty clear he'd blown something up at one time or another. "You two, keep your powder dry," 'jesus she was sounding just like Dugan... keep your powder dry? for cryin' out loud!' "We got it comin' toward us now." With that cryptic comment she turned and looked out to the black. "And pretty sure we'll be heading straight in to it." Yes, she could see it, the darkness. Glory. It was time. The inevitiable confrontation. She was here for it, that's why she'd returned to Glory instead of staying home. It was her destiny. And she was ready. Full on physical top of her game, Ninjar and Jaime in perfect balance inside her head. Just like the old days, but it wasn't sports and games. This was the big one. But she was Glory. She was Champion. She stared with absolute confidence into the black, the stare that sent urine down the leg of many a challenger. 'I will win, you will lose. I will kick your ass.' "Glory." was all she said.

"If god hates me, it just sent out message that said 'Hey, Becker and the boys just opened up your personal property.'" Mike paused for a moment. "God does hate me for anyone interested." He nodded to Biff as he was preparing to depart with Khei in tow, then turned to receive Sonya's comments, which among sound advice was abstract and confusing. Keep my powder dry? After Sonya seemed to settle on gazing through the view screen, Becker offered instruction. "Comm Dugan, see what he wants to do. I nominate flushing it." He lingered for a while and studied Sonya, wanting to say something but not knowing what words should be shared. All he offered was a nod, before heading off to inspect the crate himself. Why would my powder be wet? |

Bridge. Sonya smiled at Becker's back. An honest and sincere man. Why she didn't have a natural attraction to men like that, she thought for a moment. 'Just part of my cursed side'. The 'powder' reference had required explanation to her as well. But Sonya had been around a few retro dueling pistols, even owned a most expensive one she'd won as a prize. She'd been much more fascinated by the man that had told the story and explanation that the actual history of ancient warfare, which Ian had gone on to great lengths in providing said explanation. The Dugan spirit rose when he talked of how what once was. Before the verse... when men were men and ... Her smiled broadened at old conversation, half serious/half joking. Ian. She commed him. "Captain, what do you want me do do with the device in the back up bacta tank. Becker recommends flushing it. We could freeze the chamber and we get it off the ship at Greenleaf to get a look at it?" Actually she wanted to flush it, but Dugan had taught her long ago that options were important. Ship's officers should present them, rather they thought they were a good idea or not. "But I'm with Mike on this, the less of Niska on board, the better." she commed off and stood alone on the bridge. Her bridge. Or Glory's girl. She was possessed again. By Glory. With her. And in return she could not help but take possession of the old girl. Worries that this had been a mistake, returning to this ship. But the old girl had won. Sonya never really had a chance. She'd not get away again. Glory was hers as much as she was Glory's. |

((OOC) Tojo, Sonya scares me. The way you write her is top notch ... btw, you joined this site on my 46th birthday. Too cool) Still in the Med Bay, Ian moved to the comm and thumbed the controls. "much as I'd like to, we better not. I dont feel like bein on the run and lookin over my shoulder for the rest of my life, 'an I intend to live a good long one. If cole was his cargo we'd better take our lumps right up front and be ready to dish out more. Make it to expensive to deal with us if it comes ta that." He paused a beat. "We'd best keep out powder dry an be ready with this one." He thumbed the control off and stood for a moment. THe best option he could think ta do was be ready for an attack when they dropped off the now empty crate to Niska's man. Yeah, that'd go over well He shook his head and sighed. |

Karyn nodded at Ian as she continued to hold onto Cole's legs while he thrashed about. "Check the bracelet on his wrist. Something we need to be concerned about?" [- since Karyn wasn't aware of the device in the box, she wouldn't be putting two and two together, but maybe Ian would. -] |

((OOC: Sorry for the hold up folks... comp has been acting up. Also apologies for assumptions of peoples movements in the following. I'll edit if need be.)) "Get Khei to her room and made comfortable. I don't think having her wake up in medical next to Cole is a good idea. Ian, take my place. Keep him from beating head on anything. Could do more damage than the seizure itself." As soon as Ian was there, Trina moved letting him take over. She had scant few supplies for this kind of thing, but she had some. Bolting to her bag on the counter, she tore through it, looking for the small vial she knew was probably her last. Once her hand was on it, she grabbed a fresh needle and saw to a small, less than minimal dosage. There was no guarantee this would stop the seizure and if it didn't, it might make it worse. It was then the comment about a bracelet was made. Trina was back at Cole's side, needle prepped and in hand, but she held it. Her free hand caught hold of the wrist on which the bracelet was and she noted the blinking light and tried to study it closely as Cole's body continued to be wracked. |

Remy ran to the bridge and helped Biff carry Khei to her room. She looked peaceful as she was laid out on her bunk. Remy covered her with a blanket in a brotherly way and brushed the hair out of her eyes. "I will stay with her Biff. You better go help the others." Remy took a seat in a chair next to her bunk and held his head down. Everything keeps getting worse and worse... he thought. Trina saw that the bracelet was firmly fixed to his wrist and was made of metal with a red blinking light in the center. Edited by loneviking, Sep 1 2013, 01:20 PM.

Cargo Bay Mike was staring eye to eye with the crate that had held 'Cole'. His expression was straight, his mind seemingly racing, until, "I have no idea why I thought this would help." Taking a deep breath, he leaned away from the crate, widened his eyes and stretched his back out. "I don't know what it is." A flickering red light taunted him. Becker shook his head and moved toward the back of the cargo bay. His gaze found it's way out of a view window that looked from Glory's rear. There was nothing but black to be seen, but Becker couldn't shake the idea that someone was on their tail. |
